Does anyone have experience with the newer mini battle belts, And how viable is it to wear them over a jacket?
I find when I load up my carry belt it really digs into my hips throughout the day. Also if I have to put of a jacket it becomes a pain to get to my gear.

Anyone familiar with buying gear from American websites and shipping it to Canada?
When it crosses the border what sorts of fees or taxes do you have to pay?

Is it usually just calculated on purchase orders on websites or do you get gypped at every turn when you ship stuff across?

how is that $300 nod? I know GQ trashes on gen 1 stuff but a while ago I bought a really shitty gen 1 handheld device for around $100 and it was significantly better than the naked eye in a pitch black forest. Is that helmet mounted one worth the $300? (im a poor college student and will be for the next 3 years there is no way im going to drop $4000 on a proper device any time soon.)

Reposting old pic, since I haven't really been at my cabin for some days. Waiting for the next paycheck so I can waste more money. Nearing the end of the kit
Last things needed:
>Ballistic Helmet
>Peltor headset
>Peltor PPT
>Front and back plate
>camo paint(for helmet, unless I can get it in Tan/Green)
>counterweights
>helmet cover

Project after this will probably be a winter set-up, but it'll probably just be white camo pants/jacket/helmet cover.
>>
>>32525364
I've used one. It's honestly impressive for $200 but it's still a piece of shit in general. At the ranges it is useful, even with an IR flashlight or illuminator, I would rather use visible light. Fun and potentially useful, but garbage.

If you've ever looked through a gen 3 unit you will want to huck it in the trash.

No, not big into armor, would obviously read more into it if I ever felt like buying a new set of plates.

>calling me a larptard?
No one specifically. But if someone spends $800-$1000 on some cordura stitched together just because it looks cooler or SOF guys use it, it's pretty LARP worthy.

Appreciate the suggestions though, velocity has a couple slicks that fit the bill and I know that perroz skeletor has is pretty neat for what it is.

about as sketchy as RMA armor. You want my advice stay the fuck away from armor carriers. They can weigh 4 lbs empty with no plates/ soft armor or any pouches added. What is your budget?

Say hello to the SSO Legat Assault Vest
Just got this thing and from initially playing with it, it is an awesome rig. 4 rifle mag pouches built it with flaps that connect to velcro on the back so you can adjust for any mag size. Two admin pouches, one that goes all the way across the bottom and one in the middle. The rig actually holds a front plate if need be and the top part can be tucked down if you don't need it. I'll have to take it out shooting with me, but so far it looks and feels great.

>>
>>32527055
Got it as an add-on in a trade. I only use it as a truck and range bag, so it's been great for that. Not my go-to for hunting or heading out on the trail though. The material is legit and the stitching is solid though, I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a weekend pack if I needed to.

I had to hose it down with some waterproofing spray to really seal it up though, if it rains hard the interior of the outer compartments is going to get soggy. The main cavity stayed dry though.

You can tie down the goggles with 550 cord, I can post a picture in a bit. Cheaper and lighter than rails. If that's all you are using rails for, you can remove them entirely. I never had much use for goggles outside of turret gunning in extreme weather; shy of that I'd just go without them. You could instead put a second headlamp on your helmet. The normal headlamps (tied down with 550) I have found are better to use than the "tactical" ones that hang down and create snaggle hazards.

I'd remove the grippod and eschew from adding a bipod. You can use your assault pack as a shooting rest. Attach a dedicated VFG/AFG as you see fit.

Assault bag looks of the style bigger and sloppier than I like.

ALIVE frame rucks are not ideal, even the upgraded MALICE packs (I have pretty significant experience with ALICE, MALICE, and other rucks to compare it with).

You arty?

I can post better when I'm not rushing around on a phone.

Arty/FST for life. What gave it away? The foretrex, cross cannons on the ID patch or the J-fire?

Currently I'm not using the rails for shit. My plan is to get some Comtac IIIs attach em to the rails. I have the adapters and cyre airframe rail adapters. A little bit of wire bending and you can make it work with an ACH and get a good seal around the ears.

Goggles are secondary I live up in the north with snow and mountains.

the bipod I use to assist more in laziness. It's so nice to be able to put my rifle down where ever I want without having to lean it up against a "rock or something." I have a magpul afg, I had taken it off for some reason while I was cleaning my rifle.

It does look sloppy, probably because there is not shit in it and the buckles aren't tight with straps taped down. But the back support is legit as fuck.

Alice/Malice aren't ideal but god damnit I love the thing. But I'm always willing to listen to suggestions.

Guys, can we all just agree that cryes are a niche market, and these are even more niche. If you like and them, and can afford and justify them, fuck what anybody else says. If you think it's stupid, that's valid. The material is worth 75 alone, with labor and marketing and everything else taken into account, it costs crye about 250-300 per set of cryefires (because of dri-fires proprietary material costing a fuck ton to buy). I know a guy. It's still a stupid fucking markup, but cmon guys. Don't be so hostile all the time.

I don't think you have to justify yourself. GQ is split mostly as the budget people will put into gear. It's fine not to be too into it or not have a huge budget but don't hate on the people with a lot of spare income just because they spend their money on gear more than other people.

Would I be alright to order ceramic plates if I intend on doing HIIT sprints with a PC + gun belt on, plus doing drills at the range with the carrier on? I've got an ALICE belt, loaded G19 in an ALS Safariland holster, and an ALICE mag pouch with three loaded AR mags. Now I'm wearing an airshit carrier with AR500 targets (lol) stuck in the plate inserts of the vest, which has me at 227 with all the gear on. It's not so much the weight I'm going for, rather running with body armor and a gun belt on. I'm looking at a TAG Vanguard with level 3 plates, and I'm leaning towards ceramics now since they're more durable than I thought.
>>
how many mags should I carry for a combat load?

For the primary, I was thinking 6 plus 1 in the gun

Authorized for wear are:

Types of uniforms: BDU, ACU
Types of camos, M81, UCP, OD#3

Nobody said you can "mix" them up. You can wear ACU with UCP camo or BDU with OD#3 or BDU with M81 etc. You absolutely CANNOT mix types and camos.

In US Army you can currently wear ACU with UCP or ACU with OCP. Still you cannot mix them up.
