I have a Bell, but its a bit small and they don't make them any bigger.

Something to hang a GoPro or light from for various activities.

That actually reminds me, I with more people made headlamps that connected to NVG mounts. Seems pretty good idea, but the only one that does is the PTec Remix OPERATOR edition.

Nothing really, they're great plates especially SAPIs. I just bought ceramic grid meme plates because

Personally I like the idea of one mount doing everything, but not everyone is in my situation.

>>32473508
My brother has a Smith Optics Holt that nice, but I'm not sure I'd want to "ruin" it by adding a Velcro field and possibly a NVG mount.

I should probably just get over my autism and use the tregular GoPro mount for it, but it would bother me that the mount is there for only that, and idnthink the mount wpould get in the way of goggles or a headlamp

Yeah RMA discovered that if they made their ceramic plates a grid rather than one monolithic piece you don't get spiderwebs after it gets hit. They're retard tier strong too, The Wound Channel has a video where it stops 2 250gr .338 Lapua Magnum rounds before failure.

>>
>>32474200
Yeah there are a fair amount of companies that make foam or rubber plates.

Ton of airsoft companies make decent fake plates for cheap.
No point to a plate carrier if you're not gonna use legit plates, tho. Just get a belt and save a lot of money.

Was screwing around, came up with this. I'm using the 100-rounder on my left as an IFAK. I stuck the 200-rounders on the back as a pseudo-buttpack, but I just stuck them on there so I won't be offended if you tell me that's retarded. One reason I didn't just get an issued waist pack is that it's not that much capacity, and they don't come in coyote like the other pouches. Might remove one of the 200-rounders and putting on a backup 1-quart or something. Another possibility is just forgoing canteens altogether and using my Camelback.

I have a 2-mag up on my chest but it's more for a flashlight or something than a possible 9th or 10th mag. I have an ALICE belt not in the picture for a holster, knife, and pistol ammo. For when I get my handgun.

And before you >flc me, for one the desert and woodland ones are cheap as shit, and they always worked fine for me when not overtop my IOTV.
>>
>>32474200
>Does anyone make custom waifu pillows? I mean, since no /k/ommando is ever going to actually going to get any from their oneitis, why not just print her on a pillow and save yourseslf the effort?

>>
>>32474224
>No point to a plate carrier if you're not gonna use legit plates, tho. Just get a belt and save a lot of money.

As you can see in this thread, lots of people are interested in cosplaying with plate carriers.
>>
>>32473906
For a battle belt cobra buckles are a godsend, but I fabbed my own out of the $20 USGI rigger belts at the PX and some chinky $16 cobra buckles off amazon. Did require basic sewing knowledge and time but I did it without a sewing machine. They also have no sew buckles.

I wouldnt trust it for rappelling or for an aircrew cowtail but for a battle belt its fine.
>>
>>32474263
That's fine. I'm just stating the obvious that it's actually useless for its purpose if you're not using legit plates. Displaying is chill cause some people are into that, but don't then pretend that not having legit plates is the same thing as not having them because
>"lol dood you're never gonna get shot lmao"
As true or false as that statement is, without plates a PLATE CARRIER is quite literally an oversized battle belt.

unless you're doing vcqb training while shooting or vehicle infantry work during SHTF
I'd skip the bump helmet and go with a softcap, your skateboard helmet would just fuck up your SA and won't stop the lethal shrapnel.

besides that
Protech A-Bravo Full Shell Helmet are less tacticool and have a half decent suspension system just add a NOD mount for a bretty good GoPro helmet.
if you remove the rails off the sides you shouldn't be having a tactical retreat of spaghetti from your pockets when you're in public.

chinese alibaba plates have been made of "grids" for years and it's because it's too hard/expensive to make one monolithic piece of ceramic especially with a complex curve.

also if you think about it, you are basically buying a precracked plate. You bought a plate with a bunch of full length cracks in the ceramic material in order to avoid getting cracks on impact.

Start with a helmet factory painted green. Apply an even coat of gray/green spray paint (I need to figure out the name) to the whole outer shell. Then, apply a mesh laundry bag to the outside and apply a light coating of tan spray paint. Finally, apply a heavier coat of the gray/green paint to the helmet in random areas to complete the job .

That's not how crack propagation mechanics work.

Tbh my heart rate rises really quickly. Like I run up some stairs and Im2instantly at 140, it's kind of uncomfortable. But then I lap swim as hard as I can for half an hour and I'm still ~140-150. Talked to a lot of doctors about it and they say I'm in fantastic shape and there's no reason my heart rate should immediately spike like that doing any physical activities.

Do you guys run with weight on? When I do my morning runs usually I don't but I've been considering running with a backpack with some weight in it or something to kind of simulate running with a gear load without actually running around with a plate carrier (and then getting stopped by cops).
>>
>>32483413
I want to ruckrun my bob, but I also know what that does to my knees, so no, no weight.
>>
>>32483413
I rarely run with weights. I usually do one or two pack runs, about 8-10km with 20-25kg, and try to go get under an hour. But I find it usually does more harm than training. Most weights I run with is with a 3L camelbak, and some times with a plate carrier.

Might just be me tho, Ive fucked up my back several times, but I find running 10-20km in 10-11km/h pace, and running intervals every other ish day is more helpful for my cardio and overall running strength.
>>
>>32483454
One or two pack runs a year*
Just to see what my pack run time is
>>
>>32483441
>>32483454
I'm 20, would running with pack weight fuck up my knees that much?
I don't really wanna have leg issues starting at 22, that would suck massive penis.

Should I just keep doing my morning runs no pack? How do I really prep for running in kit otherwise? Just run a lot and have stellar cardio and hope for the best?
>>
>>32483687
I dont know about knees, never had issues about it. But when I was a conscript and wanted to try out for a SOF, I always heard "never run with a pack if you want to get better at pack runs". Do one or two to see what your time is, then work from that.

Running with weapons/kit is something that will come natural when you've spent time doing stuff with the kit on. I usually march with backpack + kit so my body gets used to the weight. After a while 20kg on your body will feel natural, and running short and even longer distances will come natural.
But I wouldn't recommend activly running long distances with heavy weights.

Again, just my 2 cents.
>>
>>32483804
Thanks anon. I asked /fit/ a while ago but they said just to run more... Which wasn't all that helpful.
>>
>>32483884
Yeah I used to browse /fit/ some years ago, their running advices are kinda meh, due to the cardio kills meme that will forever be burned into them.
>>
>>32484019
I never got why they think cardio is bad. I'm almost certain the definition of being "in fit" is having good cardio.

Whatever. If they wanna gym rat instead of be a run fag that's fine.

I'm also almost positive any branch of the military except army reccomends you have fantastic cardio to excel, where lifting and upper body strength aren't nearly as required.
>>
>>32483687
running with a backpack is going to ruin your joints, you can try a couple times but if you start doing that on a regular basis you're going to hurt yourself.

Don't run with weight on your back, you'll fuck up your knees
Do HIIT for cardio if you're over 185 lbs
If you're going to run, do it around 3 times a week, not every day
Get a good loadbearing system so your shit doesn't rattle around
Heavy lowbar squat and deadlift and breathe into your abdomen to train your core
If you don't have strong legs and a good core to stabilize you, your gear is going to tire you out much faster, since your center of gravity is higher
>>
>>32484079
Chris Pratt is that you?
>>
>>32483687
I put weighted running in the same category as shooting without earpro on: It will slowly and irreversibly degrade your body over time, it won't condition anything relevant to be any stronger (you can't train you knee cartiledge to be stronger), and stupid people will call you a pussy for being safe. If you HAVE to make the occasional ruck run in real life or for a training course, obviously you do it, but you should be conditioned in other ways to make it possible.

I say this as somebody who did a few weighted runs in my younger days. I didn't get too hurt because I was already a well conditioned runner, and I stopped before I really hurt myself. Doing *short* explosive sprints in weight is fine-that's what weight vests were made for. If you want more leg strength, run up and down courses with hills and hit the gym for leg workouts.

For rucking, a real ruck march expert knows how to step out a brisk pace at a walking stride.

>>32484042

>>
>>32484239
/fit/ assumes everybody wants to be mega huge. Also there is a distinct air of them inflating their lift numbers when they post.

Spent almost a decade inna military, and I'll say that 90% of the time you need good cardio and strong legs and back. Having upper body strength is a positive, but only if you've got cardio and legs. Somebody who has gorilla arms but can't ruck or walk out a patrol is pretty useless.

Good cardio/lite strength day exercises can be boxing training, clean and jerks, and rope climbing if available.

High intensity interval training: it's basically intervals of high intensity workout and then rest, repeated several times. Your basal metabolic rate and heart rate stay elevated for a longer time afterwards relative to long slow distance training. An example would be 5min plyometrics or sprints, 1:30 of rest, then repeat 10x. It's a better cardiovascular workout than running and targets type IIA and IIB fibers better than running.
Squats and deadlifts just by nature of being whole body movements heavily involve the core as the main stabilizing component of the trunk. When you squat and deadlift heavy and breathe into the abdomen, your core has an easier time contracting over your gut to stabilize the spine, working your core muscles and training good spinal alignment which is essential if you're going to be moving with heavy loads
Starting Strength and Practical Programming for Strength Training are both great books for lifting, and Supple Leopard by Kelly Starrett is a great book to help you get good spinal alignment so you don't end up with an injury
>>
>>32482503
hows that kyrptek D3 holding up for you
>>
>>32484356

my high intensity interval training consists of lifting a bottle of jim beam up and down in 45 degree motions usually in repetitions of every 2 to 3 minutes around 11pm on a monday

Thank you very much.

What to do if I don't gain any muscle mass? I don't want to be huge, I don' want to be slender.

idk wear a $5 windbreaker over the pc?
>>
>>32484356
This guy gets it
I played Basketball in high school and due to conditioning my coach put us through I could play a full 40 minute game without breaking a sweat. Lots of sprints, suicides, bear crawls, and other cardio twice a week and lifting 3 times a week put me in the best shape of my life. After high school I dropped the cardio but I still lift. I should pick it back up but I fucking hate cardio.
>>
>>32483413
Alternatively you could wear a tool belt with tools in it. Then, people will just think you're in a hurry to get to work
>>

Or carry a real big bag of dog food, those are fifty pounds, make friends with local dogs, get girls by saying you're on the way to donate to a dog shelter, etc etc

Not that anon but just get more calories. Some people just need to eat more.

I'm talking like 5000 calories a day. And ideally as many grams of protein as you WANT to weigh in pounds. (If you wanna weigh 200 lbs eat/drink 200 g of protein)
>>
>>32482035

Been using that LBV since the mid-90's. Alice doesn't work so well without some sort of strappage. Alternatively you can use the shoulder strap off a map case Sam Browne style for lighter loads. Blackhawk! also makes an improved H-harness that's pretty good.

Hey /gq/, I have some cordura (in an obscure camo) that I want to send off and have a plate carrier made out of. Do any of you have experience with such things? If so, what would you recommend?
>>
>>32485499
send it off to good tailor
>>
I'm so tired of all the gear review channels being airsoft channels.

They have the legit gear half the time, but skim over most of the stuff that seperates one carrier, or belt or whatever from any other and most of the reviews are
>It's comfortable and can be adjusted like this
>It has molle lol
>Look at this loop for hydration packs no one will ever get
>Built really well
They like to say
>Sturdy
>Solid
But then gloss over or don't talk about inside pouches, carry handles, weight, built-in radio and comms friendly features

Can a fellow Gear Queer recommend some good review channels that aren't airsoft but have done a lot of videos? (New channels tend to be limited as to what they review).
>>
>>32485673
you can check out garandthumb.

I'd consider making a new channel but my camera sucks

I'm looking for a civilian version of the 5.11s, Condor, etc..

Thigh pockets and reinforced knees are great. Rip stop nylon, large flaps on pockets with carabiners all over the place a shit

I was gonna suggest something legit but you asked for no mall cop now you're wanting mallcop.

Mayflower APC
vs
LBT 6094

Looked at both of them thoroughly, it comes down to build quality at this point, I'm leaning towards the 6094 even though it's 2x as expensive.
>>
>>32486143
I'd go with the APC.
unless you're buying the 6094 on sale you're spending too much
>>
>>32486143
chalk another one up for the APC, but look at the AWS OCPC if you're deadset on the 6094 look.

this.

>I was gonna suggest something legit but you asked for no mall cop now you're wanting mallcop.

thigh pockets are necessary to have cargo pants. reinforced knees make them tougher (see work pants). what work/cargo pant is a good stand-in for ninja pants

LAPG Tac pants are the best I've ever used. Extremely cheap and light compared to 5.11, Propper, Blackhawk!, etc. I have a pair that I've put through rough use over 4 years and have had no broken seams and little to no fading. I've accidentally poured bleach on them and thought that I ruined them, but they came out with zero fading. If you get them in kakhi, they shouldn't stand out. Great pair of pants.

The thinner, the better. The Ceradyne MSAP plates that I have aren't that bad, but I really think I could benefit from plates that are a bit thinner. I'm thinking about buying a pair of these next year (Ebay item:142124200506) to try since they appear to be thinner. Coated curved AR500 plates might not be a bad option for this role either. In the end, take into account that you are adding a large amount to your side profile when you add side plates.
>>
Would a 36" Operators Gun Belt be able to be adjusted down to 30"?
I would assume no but I wanna be sure because a $15 belt sounds pretty tempting for a starter piece.
>>
>>32476367
AR500 is better than nothing. Basically the only people who truly hate on it are trip NEET's who spend their months worth of EBT money on a Mayflower PC and then larp around their parents backyard and the mall. On the extremely off chance that SHTF, I'll be happy that I have my AR500 PC w/ plates. I'll still have more protection than 99.9999999% of the population.
>>
>>32476864
pretty much any PC will fit them. Don't worry about it too much. Unless it's one of those weird micro PC's then it will more than likely fit your plates just fine.

Moab soles are better and meant for full on mountain climbing. The Phoenix soles are okay but not as good.

Source: I bought Moabs for mountain warfare school and googled the differences.

Moab insoles suck ass. Had to get those Dr. Scholls custom $50 ones. Did you use the regular ones at the school?
