Overpriced for what they are. The materials on mine are just OK. Stitches are very large so I don't think they'll hold up well under heavy use.

Made in India by Pajeets so buyer beware.

So, /gq/, I've been thinking of some experimental setups lately. Pretty much every single piece of gear I have has been customized to some degree and adapted, tweaked to my own tastes, with a fair lot of stuff being fully custom from the very beginning.

Anyways, this picture made me think. Could it work out? In theory, the magazine layout would give the advantage of being able to go flatter and closer to the ground, which is sorta vital in combat, however the issue is that reloading mags in that position would require one to rise up to access them, thus negating the advantage altogether. However, I can think of ways to circumvent that issue, mostly, slapping mags on the belt, or maybe fancier solutions like lumbar panels or Crye's horizontal mag pouch on the rear of the PC.

However I am pretty sure I haven't entirely thought this thing out, so alternative viewpoints would be nice.

tl;dr could pic related work
>>
>>32491580
That's retarded. There's nothing besides friction with the pouch stopping the mags from falling forwards.

>>
>>32491629
FASTmags have enough friction to keep them in place, even upside down. Though if I did it, I would use Tacos instead - well adjusted Tacos would keep the mags in place very well, though I would also likely add bungee retention on top just in case.

What's a realistic wait time for items i buy on ebay from a seller in Russia?
I want to buy a pair of Russian camos but i keep hearing horror stories of dreadful customs waiting time.
The seller has 300+ positive feedback so i am not too worried about getting scammed, but im not sure if i want to have it order to my home or jobsite since i travel back and forth between them every other month and no one is there to get the package for me.

Depends where in Russia. If it's European Russia then maybe 3 days to a port in the Netherlands and a week over to East Coast States then 2 days shipping from there to you.

Siberian or far east... A week to Vladivostok at best a week to Seattle or San Diego and 2-3 days to you.

Ideal pack weight is 1/6-1/4 your body weight, so how would /k/ use their ideal pack weight? (1/3 if you're pretty fit or not running around all day)
shamelessly tallying my weight, I know I can cut somewhere, probably in molle gear, I need a light GAT as well.

40lbs
Individual total Running total
Plate carrier 3.1 lb 3.1 lb
Plates: 14.4 lb 17.5 lb
Molle gear: 3 lb 20.5 lb
Pants/shirt: 3 lb 23.5 lb
Belt gloves boots: 2.5lb 26 lb
6+1 AR mags: 7lb 33 lb
3 pistola mags: ~2lb 35lb
AR+M9a3: 10lb 45 lb

5 over isn't bad, but it needs cutting, 20lb alone in guns and ammo...
>>
>>32492437
why 3 pistol mags? does that count the one in the gun?
>>
>>32492482
Yeah, sorry
2+1

I'm also using the unloaded weights of the gats.
>>
>>32492483
so far as i can tell most people don't count their clothing weight and boots into their pack weight.
>>
>>32492516
>dont count their clothing weight
Because most people's clothing is nothing compared to the total, I did it for completion.

Also
>Try that when your clothing total is >20lb of winter gear
>>
>>32492525
just saying
i wouldn't be concerned with being 5 lbs over if the 5 pounds come from clothes and boots

if you think about it after you add sustainment gear the weight of some BDUs is negligible.

one thats an videogame armor carrier. the cummberbund of a pc is usually smaller and sits higher, so idk id you could stack two mags or reach the mags on your suppor side quickly

you lose capacity and you make it harder to reach your belt line. Now your ifak and radio need a new place to go because the cummberbund is taken

basically, that's dumb video game shit
>>
>>32492874
This.

No offence anon, but that also seems really dumb since the chances of your magazines spaghetti'ing all over the place and falling out are also greatly increased.

>Now your ifak and radio need a new place to go because the cummberbund is taken

Unless you're planning on jamming everything else on your belt then having cummerbund space all used for 4 mags in total seems really inefficient and wasteful when you can pack 6 mags onto just the front of a PC using a triple wide double mag pouch.

I live in the Midwest and I've ordered gear from Russia on multiple occasions and it usually takes around 10 days for it to get to where I live. The packages have gotten stuck in US customs a couple of times, but it only pushed the delivery date out by 3-5 days. Never had a problem otherwise.

DONT YOU EVER SPEAK FOR ME AGAIN!
But seriously, if I was looking to shave weight, armor would be the first to go. More armor necessitates more water because of sweating. Besides plates have such a small coverage area.
>>
>>32493504
>if I was looking to shave weight, armor would be the first to go

You said just drop the plates. What you probably meant was to just go with a chest rig then, which is a pretty good option for innawoods or innamountains.

>Besides plates have such a small coverage area.
Coincidentally that "small coverage area" is the "poke holes here for ded" area
Most of your body is non-critical.
Most of the area covered by a plate is critical.
>>
>>32493504
there are ways to cut weight other than going without plates. for example there are plates that cost 4x as much as my plates and weigh 1/2 as much for the same armor rating. I can carry fewer magazines, wear less pouches
>>
>>32493527
No fucking shit. I know what a cardiac box is. And that small coverage area really only works when squared off with the guy shooting you. That and I've seen too many cases of dehydration and heat exhaustion from too much armor. Freedom of movement makes you more of a threat than being a tortoise with knee and lumbar spine problems.
>>
>>32493613
>less magazines
What do you consider an ideal amount of mags then?
>>
>>32493614
You seem to think that hydration packs aren't a thing or are too cumbersome to haul around yet basically everyone does it just fine.

Also that <20lb of plates now means you're wearing the full US Army SAPI suit for vehicles. The entire point to a carrier is to be as mobile as possible while giving you reasonable yet critical protection.
No one's going to dispute you that dropping plates is a great way to cut weight but
>Oh look this meme again
No one's fucking Jason Bourne or in the Splinter Cell series. You're not some sort of spec ops tier ninja woods warrior that is one with the bushes.

It's up to you what route you take. Not being shot at is a fantastic way to not get shot, but that's not always an option especially if you aren't ninja woods warrior that can avoid all detection and conflict in a SHTF or "defend your castle" situation.

>>
>>32493626
I wouldn't go below 6+1 for shoot out and self defence rig.

For bugout 3+1 is fine imo.
If you really wanna save weight then use a 9mm carbine or something and you can pack 2x the mags for the same weight.
>>
>>32493719
Have you ever worn full armor in hot conditions?
>>
>>32493735
Thank you
>>
>>32493793
I'm fortunate enough to live where the hottest temperature is 25-30 C
Maybe that's where the disconnect is if you live in Arizona or something.

I just roll up my pants and sleeves and I'm generally fine running around like that, granted I run a fairly light carrier + belt load.

Yes, work the basics. There are a couple different ways to position your gun and they all have pluses and minuses to them. Tucking the buttstock under your armpit gives you maximum stability but is slower

vs

keeping the gun shouldered and angeling it towards the incoming mag. Much faster but less stability.

You need to choose a style that fits what you do. A lot of people work at BLAZE OPS FAST reloads and few people bother to practice reloading how you actually do it

>cramped behind a wall or cover trying to keep your body small
or
>Backed off away from a corner trying not to flag a team mate who is now covering that corner.
or
>whatever insane scenario you find yourself in.

It is for this reason that I practice and get fast and the flashy reloads like everyone, but also work from every imaginable position.

Good advice, I think a lot of people really neglect the awkward reloads. I used to play a lot of paintball when I was younger, and it's nothing like reloading a real gun, but I was never in a situation where I was just standing up straight reloading. I was always ducked behind something or moving in an awkward position. One thing I need to practice is reloading from all my different pouches on my PC and belt.

Hi, about the dump pouches, here's my personal take on it.
My AR is designed for precision. I shoot prone a lot. When you're prone, getting a mag out of a PC pouch is easy, you just have to grab it and pull. Getting a mag back in is impossible (I haven't tried ALL pouches, but that's what I experienced with paraclete and tacos). Instead, I just grab the mag and put it in my dump pouch behind my butt. Easy as pie.

Another reason is that I hunt, and I like picking up stuff, instead of having to look for it later. Therefore, brass, empty mags, snack wrappers,etc.. go in the pouch, and I can quickly move on. The practicality of a dump pouch outweighs the bulk drawback, and in terms of weight, I deem it to be negligible.

Your setup looks to be designed for pure gunfighting, maybe 2 guns, who knows. I'm a civilian doesn't just shoot in ranges, I go outdoors, I walk a lot, I pick up stuff (fruit, tinder, cool rocks), and wear a backpack. So no, I'm not high speed low drag, but I have enough on me to be independent and operational for 3 days, up to a week. Not just the gunfight itself.

This is a pretty good dump pouch if you want something a bit low profile http://www.skdtac.com/Tactical-Tailor-Fight-Light-Roll-Up-Dump-Bag-p/1tt.208.htm

I usually run this on my belt, and switch it out if I need more utility on my belt.

How much do you practice or carry smokes (for work), senior tripfag?

I've found them to be highly useful for many situations, and being not terribly dangerous it's not horribly unacceptable to hang them Hollywood style off your gear.

And thermites are useful too. Not as many are needed, but a single one per fireteam can have its uses. Just be safe around the purple ones, they are likely to asplode rather than burn properly.

That's an update on the Blackhawk RRV concept. Retarded for many reasons.

A better solution is a dedicated plate carrier with either a detachable panel that turns into a chest rig (TAPS or similar) or wearing a dedicated chest rig over a slick PC. Jamming a single front plate into a chest rig is the worst of both worlds.

I thought it was supposed to be saturated as well, but I think most pictures are just oversaturated or show it at an angle where the shadows and light complement the uniform (which is perfectly acceptable because Multicam is meant to work based on shadows and light) but without any lighting it's extremely dark. Like I said, it'll work best here in winter because the sun goes down around 3-4pm here but during the summer when the sun stays high and the vegetation is all exposed and bleached I'll stick with the Zhaba.

FLC carries a lot more and if you set it up right, the weight is distributed on the hips.
On the other hand if you have a backpack with a waist belt it's not going to be very comfy.
The chicom is super minimalistic, you're most likely going to need to supplement it with a belt or make modifications to it.

Hey guys. GQ noob here. Was gifted a Condor Rapid Assualt rig for xmas and I just want to know what I can do to optimise it. I've heard Condor ain't great, but it was a gift so whatever. What essentials, given the real estate, should I incorporate into it? I've already ordered a pistol mag pouch to mount (Condor again. Whoops).

I am a poorfag and want to invest in gear when money is more plentiful but I have to make due for now.

My purposes would be SHTF/WROL. Halp, and plz no bully
>>
>>32497400
Chicom is easier to dye, can be modified with detachable clips with or without cutting, and you can even do things like ad a large map pouch behind the rig and live the top of the pouches with elastic. The rig itself is tough yet can be easily sewn due to its cloth construction (so no need for fancy tooling), and doesn't require special synthetic dye so its cheaper to do as well. As far as the limited capacity, it honestly has plenty of space. 6 mags and an IFAK is all you should need in a rig.

>>
>>32494190
Yes. In dry fire, set a shot timer to something like 5 seconds and hit the reloads. If you beat the time cut off 0.1s. When you fail a time, add back 0.2s. This should help you find your limits pretty quick.

I recommend doing the same thing, splitting the reload into two halves:
Part 1: Drop the magazine, draw a new magazine, and line it up with the magwell (don't insert it yet)
Part 2: Insert the magazine, hit the bolt catch if applicable, re-establish your grip, and aim the weapon.

This method allows you to break down the details and get hyperfocused on your mechanics.

On all of these drills I recommend you start without pulling the trigger, as this only adds more confusion initially (did my sights move because I jerked the trigger or was it because I was moving the gun fast?). I would start adding trigger presses in live-fire where you can easily check hits.

hey man if i go to milsim west Rostov Rising as a russian militia guy instead of straight rusfor is it kosher to wear a chicom?
>>
Are there ANY MilSim events that are close-ish to Florida? Like drive there tier?

All of them seem to be out west, which sucks for a floridian skinwalker like me.

there are tasteful ways of camo mixing.
>>
>>32499897
The thing is, I bought a vegato blouse and pants. Pants don't fit, but the blouse does. I was kinda thinking of getting multicam pants because I want combat pants that fit, and tigerstripe because I like it. Would mixed vegato and multicam offend your autism less?

price for a set of woodlan cryefires?
Large Long Shirt
36L pants

i want a new Crye wodland shirt because my current one is pretty well worn
>>
>>32500580
775 a set, at that I make basically negative money with the new distributor.
>>
/K/ what do you recommend for a Range bag for carrying an AR pistol with a few magazines a gun cleaning kit and some other stuff ammo or something
Doesn't have to be big or fancy preferably under 100$
>>
>>32500158
Like I said, flat colours work fine with camo. Mixing camo uniform is povo airsoft dork tier
>>
Is Wolf Grey good?
>>
>>32500797
The best.
>>
Are Crye elbow pads annoying? I figure (from experience), unless you're on a rocky surface or cement/asphalt, you really only need knee pads/

Is there even any point to using a combat shirt if you don't own a plate carrier?

Is there any point to a plate carrier if you don't own an AR/AK/Assault-style rifle?
>>
>>32500797
I sure hope so.
Got a plate carrier, hsgi belt, six tacos...
Time to get the dead bird to match.

Wonder who makes helmet covers....
>>
>>32500813
If you aren't using a plate carrier or chest rig, no, don't use a combat shirt. It'll get all fucked up by without the coverage.
Get a normal field shirt instead, and tuck it into your pants.I did this when I was in (even with a chest rig) and it was fine, though I'd have preferred a combat shirt if I were always wearing a chest rig.

Not him, but I imagine Wolf Grey to be a camo that would blend with kind of any environment, except maybe dense jungle, or extreme desert.

You could ask Mil-Tec. They make splittertarn reproductions. http://www.miltec.de/en/

Just don't. You going to regret it.
If you really want russian army boots - look for Butex (Бyтeкc) company.

>>

But multicam does it better. There's no point in grey overt gear unless you're a cop who needs to avoid camo patterns for PC reasons.
>>
>>32501344
No. Also they're expensive because FR and Crye.
>>

Yeah, but like you said. Wolf Grey is more covert.

Separate question.
Anyone got any lightweight sniper rig pics? Not talking ghillie suit, however.

Don't do all day stuff, and even when I do ~5 water bottles are more than enough.

I've been considering a hydration pack but water bottles do basically the same thing but then I can also store other things than JUST water...

because I like to wear a BFK, I don't put it on the belt unless I'm going to need it. but knife belt positions - mine is usually in the 3-6 o'clock behind my pistol.

Is 2010 Afghan issue of the Brits.

Worth for £45?

soldier 95 British smocks are great.
but they fit like dresses if you don't cinch to the bottom shock cord, aswell that wired hood flap that come with it are hot garbage first thing I do is cut them off to make a normal floppy hood.
