You do have a point about it being a cheese grater. Any grip that isn't using the VFG or the mag well is rather uncomfortable due to the sharp ends of the rails, but some cheap rail covers should fix that right up.
Personally I chose a quad rail just because I like the look of it, I just wanted to be sure there wasnt some kind of major issue that I wasn't seeing.

Nah, they can be solid. Just most people would prefer a rail that's a bit slimmer since they really don't need all the rail-estate.

The cheese-grater rails are the primary complaint, with the girth being the secondary complaint (and exacerbated by rail covers to varying degrees).

If you like the look, cool. They work. They're just not a good fit for most people.

you're going to find of three things as people's stocks here:

1) usgi m4/m16 stock
2) sopmod (b5 because lmt costs too much, even for ar general)
3) magpul

grip is up to preference. I like the ucwrg/b5 grip but the magpul k2+ is better because it has storage (better to have it then not have it) to go with the grip angle. also overmolded. some people here even like the a2 grip. i don't know if you are counting handguard as part of the furniture but there's practically every rail under the sun here. magpul moe handguards would be considered poorfag for sure

For a single stage trigger its not bad. Very smooth with a decent break but at the end of the day its still a mil spec trigger. But with your budget look into the MBT. that is unless you want to keep it single stage.
