So here on the right is my older bro's M&P15 that's having issues with mag insertion. Please go easy on him, I know it's every bad /arg/ meme rolled into one.

Gave S&W a call, turns out that it's out-of-warranty and will cost us, plus shipping, to have it fixed.

His lower seems to function perfectly, so we're considering just getting a PSA midlength upper with a meme-floated barrel to mate to his lower, since he hates the front-sight post on his anyway. It'd also force him to get a decent set of backup irons. Good idea?

I swapped my upper with my older bro's upper. His lower performed flawlessly with my upper, and the combo featuring my lower and his upper inherited the difficult-to-insert mag problem.

I tried exchanging his entire upper, then just his bcg with my bcg, and even trying different mags, with the same result being confined to just his upper. Wherever his upper goes, the mag insertion problems follow.
