Reposting from end of last thread. Recap sold some dust collectors and just picked up Arsenal SLR 104. I just have to say again what an amazing rifle out of the box. I'm not a fan of all black aks but I don't seem to mind this one.
>>
>https://www.legionusa.com/russian-military-ak-front-sight-takoffs.html

Wonder where these came from. No pin holes drilled nor punch press dimples. Look OEM, but it says re-manufactured.

Don't buy blind, there are too many garbage AKs on the market. I don't care what your friend says about it, don't buy unless you know for sure what it is and that it isn't shit.

I'm assuming it's in 7.62x39, so anywhere from $95-$150 depending on what drum you want and I'd pick up surplus mags from AIM if I were you.

OG FEG AMD would be a nice pick up at $500.
Then you could get one of Kyber Customs slotted upper handguards.

You will have to get a gas tube with handguard ferrules though and then fit it for it to work, but it could turn out pretty cool.

Depends on what you want? The WASR-3 will be an awesome 5.56 AK and the unconverted Saiga will be an awesome 5.45 AK, you should beware that converting a Saiga does take some time and money though depending on how autistic and picky you are. I couldnt say without some research but at least a couple hundred bucks at minimum, like i said before if your looking for authentic Russian parts it will be even more but in my opinion there is no other way to do one than with authentic parts. >>
>>32319701
I can't. I put it on until it clicked into the notch thing, but it was still loose so I pushed in the thing and kept turning it. That's where it stopped. I can't turn it any more.
>>
>>32320115
The muzzle device can be a bit loose, but the timing for the slant brake is more important.
>>
>>32320115
>but it was still loose
It's okay if it has a little wiggle, it's not supposed to sit tight the way an AR muzzle device would
>>
>>32319576
If you're just going to build/convert a single AK, find a gunsmith to do it for you instead. The cost of machinery and risk of you fucking it up is much higher than an AR, which can be done with a combo wrench and some punches. A parts kit build will be more "correct" but will also run you even more than just converting the Saiga, since you're almost guaranteed to end up with a barrel that has to be populated before installation too.
>>
>>32320169
>>32320171
I don't know. It works fine the way it is.
>>
>>32320243
It's not working the way it should. Trust us, it'll feel a lot better recoil-wise if you get the timing corrected. Right now you're actually *increasing* the muzzle rise every shot.

>>
>>32320659
>Gotta run the credit card theft gauntlet when you buy through them too.

I've been hearing that go around here a lot lately but I've placed at least 10 credit card orders through them and I've never had my identity stolen, or credit card used for fraudulent purchases. I'm not saying it absolutely can't happen, just that it might not be as common as some people make it out to be.

Also, I've been checking their website several times a day for about 5 months looking for a PSAK and I've yet to find them in stock. Kinda frustrating but in a way it's OK. I really should slow down on buying guns.
>>
>>32320686
Well, you got lucky then. I bought an AR LPK before the election from them and had someone ring up a $900 Panasonic TV (who the fuck spends $900 on a Panasonic?), three Wal-Mart purchases, and attempt to check into a hotel using my Visa info before PSA even shipped.

Thankfully USAA got it all squared away shortly after, but if I ever have to buy anything from PSA again, it'll be on a burner card.

On classic, i noticed the barrel us different and the front sight is way forward

The one in question has the sight closer to the gas block, and a different barrel.

Yeah I went and called dibs on it, waiting for him to confirm his pp info. I just figured I'd get this rifle to have as many Russian parts as I can on it and get it reasonably "correct", from what I understand no fixed stock Russian 74 came with black poly furniture, it was either plum or wood, so I figured I'd do wood, I have a plum set that's shitty that I will keep around just in case. I may throw the black poly stuff on my WASR when it comes back, or throw Romy wood back on it.

M92PV's can be found new for around $530 or so.
It's kinda hard to say the current market price for the RPK, but I'd say it's fair to estimate it at the same price or higher as the Yugo.
So if you go bottom of the estimation scale, it's an even trade and nobody got boned.
If you estimate the price of the RPK higher, which there are some on gunbroker for close to $1000 (no guarantee they will be sold for that price) then you made out like a bandit.

tl;dr I'd say you dun good. (unless the RPK is completely fucked up and the barrel is shot out in which case you bent over and spread your cheeks for that guy)
>>

Most steel hollow point will not expand like it's supposed to. It just blasts right through like ball ammo.
8m3 has been designed with lines scored into the inside of the steel jacket that allows it to expand like it's supposed to.

Almost finished my first ever AK build, a Bulgarian AK-74

All I have left to do is rivet the trunnions and press the barrel back in, I've already done headspacing and stuff. Really excited to finish it up this weekend, I'll post pics when it's finished.

I headspaced with the extractor still in but since then I've read that it's better to do it without the extractor, does it really matter?

Is it fuddlore that it is illegal to swap an NHM 91 thunb hole stock to a regular pistol grip?

If i was 922R compliant, would that be a work around?

I saw one at my LGS, thinking about doing an RPK build off of it, since it has the longer barrel and everything.

oh shit....
if you attach ANY foreign made parts on that gun you will get v&'d and the ATF will kill your dog
>>
>>32327475
If its 922 (r) compliant, there's no problem. If you do an Ironwood stock (pistol grip, hand guard, and buttstock), and us made fire control group, you're good to go (6 US made parts). But you can get things like mag followers, and base plates too if you want to use other Chinese parts.
>>
>>32327475
Once you buy it, stop worrying about 922r. I've purposely changed out every single US made part on my WASR that century put on, and replaced them with foreign milsurp parts.
The jackboots aren't going to kick your door in because your parts don't add up.

Hey guys

Can anyone give me some input on the Zastava M90NP?

I'm trying to kit together a SHTF rifle, and I like the idea of a 5.56 AK that uses AR mags.

I've already got a lot of AR mags, and kek knows that the United States is full or AR mags. Same goes for 5.56 basically.

I was trying to get the AK action for that there piston reliability and ease of suppression.

Am I being reasonable? Is the Zastava really going to be more reliable/longer lasting than a well built AR ($1000).

Also what do you guys know about Zastava AK furniture, specifically stuff that fits the M90NP?
I would definitely want a folding stock, but I would also want an optic. The ability to mount a light would be great too.

Should I just stick with an AR?

Thanks all!

If that's the case, you should try and take advantage of the discounted gift cards SVM puts on eBay on the regular. Combine with a $20 off $150 coupon for doing the receipt survey and you'll usually end up paying anywhere from $100-$115 or so plus tax for $150 worth of stuff.

Best "take" I ever did at a Cabela's included 3 $50 GCs I paid $40 each for, a $50 Cabela's Bucks credit I got for spending $200 last time I was there during a promotion, and a coupon I found on the counter there for a friends and family employee discount. Ended up paying something like $115 plus tax for a hair over $200 worth of stuff.

You literally just deal with it and get used to it

Personally I prefer the Obzor's chin weld now that I've gotten used to it (ymmv, I'm sure it has some to do with face shape as well but when I whip the rifle up from low ready the Obzor is perfectly in line with my eye without having to move my head and I love that). I like being able to see everything in front of me while shooting, when shooting the traditional way of being all cranked down on the rifle you lose a lot of that vision because the rear of the rifle blocks half of your face. Both eyes open with an Obzor lets you see everything in front of you. Plus when shooting 5.45 there's no recoil and the reticule just kind of wiggles while shooting, so it's super easy to identify and move between multiple targets at a fast pace

>>32334567

I found my deal from a person I've been friends with for a long ass time who was looking to sell. Overall the only way you're going to get a good deal is by finding someone who doesn't want it anymore or by knowing someone in Russia who is willing to ship one to you. I paid $250 for my stock, and I sure as hell wouldn't pay that again. It's a neat stock, but not a good stock by any stretch of the imagination.

If you find someone in Russia, you should be able to get one for $200 before shipping if I remember correctly. That should be fine, but just be sure you're willing to live with the possibility that you might hate the thing. Personally? If I had a folding stock trunnion, I'd get a PT-3; I've heard they're miles better.

I am wrong in that you've never screen capped me saying it's not worth $400, though I do believe I used that as the point of my argument at least once. That being said, I still don't hold hopes for it being a good optic. I hope it's at least decent for $100.

You can feel triumphant all you want, it doesn't hurt my feelings like you seem to think it does.
>>
>>32335969
What's wrong with Sheepdog? Everything I've seen them put up is a pretty fair price. The only thing I ever saw and thought was ridiculous was the AMP-69 kit they were trying to sell forever, but other than that they seem like an alright shop.

>>
>>32336014
How am I going back on my word? I legitimately believe I used that as a point in my argument at one time or another, and if I didn't then I guess I'm wrong. I still think it's going to be a far inferior optic than to what I could've gotten had I spent $300 more and gotten an Aimpoint. Could I be wrong? Sure, and if I am, I'll admit I'm wrong and that I had no clue what I'm talking about; go ahead and screenshot that and take it into account.

I'm not Jewish. I thought the PT-1 would be a far better stock when I bought (even when the price was higher than what I got it for) it than I do now, and I still think the Obzor is going to be bad.

If you knew shit about my stance on Russia, you'd know I think Russian products are wholly alright but all around are overpriced in the US because of all sorts of importation sanctions and tariffs and shit. I think they're in the wrong about seizing Crimea and continuing their war in Ukraine, but morally wrong does not always mean strategically wrong.

They are one of the most infamous dealers in all of gunbroker and the gun world in general. And the guy keeps the company of some other undesirables with a seriously bad reputation. He has a tendency to completely buy up everything of a certain variety (rare items) so he can set the prices on them. Ridiculous prices abound. Also bidding with separate accounts to drive up the bid on his items and create false bidding wars and false demand. His buddy is even worse and does it all without an FFL. Those 86 kit builds are super nice but one of the things that would keep me from getting one is the simple fact that I'd have to patronize sheepdog.
