If money was no object, a SCAR-17 would be fine. Personally, I'd probably pick a DPMS GII Recon or Compact Hunter.

M1A would be pretty shitty to use in cqb, MP is a good choice too but as far I know it's just an AR in 308. SCAR 17 is constructed better than an M&P

M1a and Ruger Mini14/30 are only good in commifornia and such cause they don't have scary features.
But still a no to the Ruger cause they use propriatory mags and are overpriced for what they are.
