(I posted the question below in the last thread and got one answer that was basically "I think so". [thanks for the answer, btw]
Hoping for an answer from someone who is sure, one way or the other.)

Do all russian plum and bakelite grips have mold numbers on them?
Asking because I bought some '''Rusian'''' plum and bakelite grips and they have no mold numbers on them. Starting to think they might be from some other country.
>>
>>31797816
Off >>31797792's friend.
Did you read the note at the top of the guide
>>
>>31797849
i thought russian grips had a 1/2 or 2/1 marking on them

http://www.russiansurplus.net/product_p/izzy-polyamide-grips.htm
>>
>>31797901
>Off >>31797792's friend.

We should all call his friend and ask how many more WASR's he has for $400.
And yes I read the note, but that $500 level is just ridiculously low for the current market. You'd be damn lucky to find one for under $700 today. And considering that guide was just made a few days ago, it's even more ridiculous.
>>
>>31797911

not only those numbers. I have a russian grip with 6/1 on it.
not sure if ALL russian grips have numbers on them though.
>>
>>31797920
The note reads that prices are subjective, meaning they may or may not be accurate and in this case, they aren't. The price doesn't mean anything in the guide, it serves to separate AMD63s from DDIs. If it really triggers you, I can make a few adjustments.

I gave the previous answer. Essentially yes, all Russian bake/poly grips will have mold numbers. I've never seen any without, but I wouldn't be shocked if they exist.

However Romanian grips do not have mold numbers.

So with those two pieces of information, I could say with high certainty your grips are not Russian.

Why did countries, like Poland, Romania, and others call their AKs submachine guns?
>>
>>31798240
because they armed the normal infantry with AKs for high volumes of fire and had DMR role PSL/Dragunov for distance (insert PKM somewhere)
>>
How much does it cost to get your barrel threaded?

And once you add something do you have to loctite it or just hand tighten it? I wanna have the option to put different stuff on there.
>>
>>31798240
Sometimes languages don't discern a difference between different types of firearms, so they categorize by role and original role of the subgun was for "assault".

Article title is incredibly misleading. Last part of the article is really the only one with substance

>Kalashnikov refused to accept responsibility for the many people killed by his weapon, blaming the policies of other countries that acquired it.

>He said in 2008 :“It is painful for me to see when criminal elements of all kinds fire from my weapon.”

>A spokesman for the Patriach told Izvestia:“The Church has a very definite position: when weapons serve to protect the Fatherland, the Church supports both its creators and the soldiers who use it,” Mr Volkov was quoted as saying.

>“He designed this rifle to defend his country, not so terrorists could use it in Saudi Arabia.”

Basically, fuck terrorists and Saudis.
>>
>>31798240
Because the AK was designed to be most effective with submachine gun tactics.

Even though it's an assault rifle, it's more submachine gun that rifle.
>>
>>31798495
I'm sure he grapples with effects of his invention. Not so much the steel and rivets, or the design itself, but the way the Soviets conceptualized war, the AK being the most widespread and recognizable symbol of. It's difficult for for us to absorb that concept as younger Americans.

I enjoy reading about it though and learning. Only thing I can equate it to is like the business culture that came out of US universities, except in this case it was Leningrad.

Is there a better deal than this for milsurp 5.45 mags, aside from the group buy?
>>
Okay guys, I came into the firearm stuff kind of late in the game and as it stands now my AKM has seven loaded mags total and then another spare 580 spare rounds in an ammo can.

I'll have roughly $400-500 to spend before the election. Should I grab more ammunition or more steel magazines? I have no intention of reselling, this is just to stock up what I can, while I can.
>>
>>31798567
In a nutshell:
The US (and therefore the West) developed the Assault Rifle concept as a way to make the Rifle more controllable and effective (in both full and semi auto)

The Russians (and the whole Com-Bloc) approached the Assault Rifle rifle concept as a way to make the Submachine Gun longer ranged and more effective.

They both got to the middle, but from different starting points.
>>
>>31798709
Half and half. Pick up 1k of Golden Tiger and a dozen of those Polish steel mags and you'll be all set. That should run you about $500.

dude just fucking download ffmpeg (command line program) and run it with these commands (save in .bat file in "bin" directory):

pause

where ffmpeg.mp4 is the input video file, 00:19:43 is start time, 00:19:48 is end time, the rest is relatively resilient to fucking up.

should generate an output.webm in same directory (the -an tag means "Audio No" for 4chan compatibility)

I would just cut the clamp a little shorter, if you make it a close fit between the fsb and cleaning rod thing it'd be really solid
>>
>>31801192
If it was me, I'd use a dremel and cut a hole in the clamp on thing where the cleaning rod mount is, so it would just stick through the clamp on thing.

I thought of both of those. I don't want to cut the mount because RPD *eventually* and that heavy fuck will need the whole mount. I also considered cutting a hole in the bottom of the clamp, that's probably the best option but I would rather use a drill press for that, which I currently lack.

I'm selling a couple guns. Essentially trading a few guns I rarely shoot to buy a really fuckin cool gun. Less guns to haul around when I move, less calibers to be invested in, and more enjoyment.

It's hard to save your pennies when you're buying other things constantly, like gas, rent, car parts, motorcycles, bike parts, plane tickets, ammo, magazines, tools, holsters, glasses, dentist, life.

$2000 is a pretty decent amount of money. The m92 is cool but I don't want to SBR it anymore so basically I have a weird loud AK with an uncomfortable stock and shitty sights. Also selling my GP100, possibly my CZ-82, and the thought of selling my 1PN34 has crossed my mind.

Who the fuck complains of recoil on a 7.62 AK? It's not a damn .22 but for fucks sake it's nothing compared to full sized rifle cartridges. Use a muzzle nut or a brake and it's just as easy to stay on target if you know what you're doing.

And swapping calibers quickly?

What standing army using an AR based issue rifle swaps uppers and ammunition on the fly? It's quicker to just grab a different rifle and LBE with the appropriate mags loaded.

>fell for the bait

Right, magpul grips WILL NOT fit on any AR lower. A BCM upper WILL NOT fit on any AR lower
A Geissle trigger WILL NOT work with ANY AR

>is that why the russians have lots of suppressed aks? if youre that driven, it is easy to get concentric threaded bits
It's almost like I said 'most' instead of 'all'. Oh well, couldnt expect an AK guy to have a firm grasp on English.

>actually theres a sizable aftermarket, just not where you look because you're dumb
Once again, I see you aren't the best with English. "Smaller" is a comparison, the AK aftermarket is absolutely smaller than the aftermarket AR market, this is a fact.

>this is bad how? run HPs or frangibiles for HD then.
Franglibles are only effective when hitting a hard material like steel, and HP will still pierce drywall with little deflection. Holy fuck you literally don't even know what you are talking about

>7.62 is carried by most gun stores, almost all in fact. 5.45 is harder but ammo is easily ordered online, for cheaper than your 5.56
Except, I said "less," once again, you suck with English, this is a comparison. It is a fact that there is more .223/5.56 in the US than 7.62. You literally can't deny this.

Faggot James Jaeger/Chris Costa worshipper confirmed

How does that Thumb over Bore™ reacharound feel?
>>
>>31802995
His argument is that his $2000 milled AK with specialty barrel is more accurate than a 6920- of course when you mention that you can get an AR with a 24" twisted barrel, he will say:
>but le meme is average AR isn't more accurate than AK

Literally hilarious watching AK fags argue.
>>
>>31802995
>we've done it at our range.

Where is the proof then? Was the same shooter on both rifles? I can make up dumb shit too you know.
>>
>>31802950
my man, try not to internalize your rifle so hard. It's pathetic like some cuck walking around with his dick in the air

Everyone, literally everyone with guns has an AR. They aren't magic, they are alright

>>
You guys can argue all you want about which is better, the AK or AR but you're ALL overlooking one very important thing.

They are not the same class of weapon.

They might both be considered "assault rifles" but they are actually very different things. The AK is a souped up SUBMACHINE gun, designed based around the tactics of the second world war, masses of infantry where the marksmanship skills of the individual aren't critical. It was designed to be used by illiterate conscript forces. The Communists care about the whole more than the individual.

The AR is designed to be a reduced power RIFLE to allow it to be more controlled, especially in automatic fire. It is contingent upon a trained solider with the individual playing an important role.

Two different rifles based on two different ideologies. Both rifles succeed in doing what they set out to do.
>>
>>31803025
we did it for shits and giggles, not to prove a point on a mongolian wicker basket weaving board. ran multiple shooters through a bunch of guns using the same rest and same ammo.

differences weren't big enough to swear off and kind of rifle btw, but to argue that the AK is as accurate as an AR is retarded. your argument should be that it's not enough of a difference to matter.

And so is the story of all civilian legal military guns. My grail gun is an MG-42 but the ridiculous mods required to make it work on top of firing 8mm mauser (good luck finding a 308 kit) killed it for me.

However, the RPD would probably mostly be mounted on my bike, or fired from the bipod. Fucker weighs 16lb unloaded, so not a carrying gun

You were saying?
>>
>>31803081
No they are two classes of rifles, sure; but not those two.

the AR is the customizable, precision made assault rifle of the freeworld; the AK is the cheaply stamped, wood dressed rifle to be produced en mass and distributed to 3rd world shitholes across the world to fight against the Marshall Plan. Korea, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, etc.

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying it's stupidly impractical. Any real sustained fire standing would tire you out very quickly. I shoot my RPK offhand but it's a relatively heavy gun as well, and most of the weight is at the end of the barrel as I imagine similar to the RPD.

I want an RPD to mount to my bike. I would take the lid off my ammo case mounted on the left side and fill it with a big long belt of 7.62x39
>>
>>31802950
>Simply untrue. Keep lying
multiple forum posts show their 6920s doing about 2 moa, while siagas do the same, how is this untrue?

>Right, magpul grips WILL NOT fit on any AR lower. A BCM upper WILL NOT fit on any AR lower
A Geissle trigger WILL NOT work with ANY AR

these are inconsistent with the type of incompatibilities aks face. ak grips fit on eachother, there is no upper and lower of an ak, and actually ak triggers are compatible with eachother. pick some different ones why don't you?

>Having to have multiple complete rifles if you want to switch from a 16" 5.45 to a 20" 7.62
lol oops forgot you cant

siaga 5.45x39(16") and vepr 7.62x39(20"), you were saying? and yes, i like having multiple rifles. I have multiple ARs even, switching uppers and shit is retarded.

> "Smaller" is a comparison, the AK aftermarket is absolutely smaller than the aftermarket AR market, this is a fact.

maybe smaller but not as small as you think, there are 10s of thousands of different accessories for aks.

>Franglibles are only effective when hitting a hard material like steel, and HP will still pierce drywall with little deflection. Holy fuck you literally don't even know what you are talking about

this video is on frangibles on ballistics gel, feel free to educate yourself :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIq86uI5gLY

and barrier penetration is generally considered a good thing as well, i don't remember having problems penetrating guard rails ;)

> It is a fact that there is more .223/5.56 in the US than 7.62. You literally can't deny this.

You realize that the Korean war, Vietnam (not) war, our conflicts in Somalia, Iran, Iraq, and south america were all either proxy wars between the US and USSR, or results thereof.

"Marshall Plan" is simply the continuation of Truman Doctrine- and while the actual Marshall Plan was for postwar Europe; the Marshall plan is synonymous with a number of policies in the second half of the 20th century to prevent the spread of communism worldwide.

Please read The World in the Twentieth Century: From Empires to Nations; and get back to me.

I'm in California, so any chicom you find is banned by name, or most gunshops refuse to touch them because they think every single one is illegal. I'm getting ready to build one up on a 80% milled receiver soon, might do either 308 or 5.56, unsure as to what I really want to do. Either would be easy with cheap Yugo M76 or RPK parts and saiga 308 take-off parts. Might even engrave some deer or some shit on it to give 'er the ole fudd look like all the old Browning shotguns.
