Finally took this one out to shoot for the first time, but it wouldn't cyclce after firing. Sometimes the bolt would go back far enough to re cock the hammer, but it never cycled. I put the gas block on again, being sure to carefully monitor its alignment and placement. I tightened it pretty hard this time, too. Not gonna lie, I felt pretty stupid when it didn't work. Anyone else have gas block problems? I'm pretty sure that's what it was, I can't think of anything else it could have been. What are some common gas block issues?

Also, I had a couple of misfires, which I believe to be ammo issues. It wasn't high quality stuff, but it could be my rifle, too. One round that didn't fire had an dent in the primer, but didn't fire. I re chambered it, and it fired. Do you guys think it was a bad primer, or could my hammer spring be weak?

>>
>>31784288

Eh, I dunno. If someone had the list I would look it over. I'm struggling between upgrading my current AR, or just buying a new one in 300 Blackout for a suppressor I just bought. I don't want to buy some no-name piece of shit, maybe something mid-level like a S&W or whatever, or a Rock River. Ideally, I would get something like a BCM pistol upper, but they only sell their shorter uppers as NFA items. I guess I just want a short, mid to upper-level upper receiver right now that I could use as a pistol.

Is it "wrong" to buy an expensive upper and marry it to a shittier lower?

>>
>>31785618

I will get some, but I want something much more lethal in case of culturally vibrant riots in my area.
>>
>>31786274
So lemme get this straight.

You, a civilian, are wanting something "much more lethal" than m193/m855.

In a market ABSOLUTELY SATURATED with good, inexpensive bonded softpoints and better, kinda-expensive monolithic copper hollowpoints, all of which reliably expand down to 1800fps and some that reliably expand down to 1500fps, are thinking about shooting something loaded with a match bullet.

Now granted this match bullet does usually (but not always) fragment down to around 2100fps (around 300m for a 14.5" barrel), but both TAP and actual mk262 cost MORE than a good bonded softpoint while offering WORSE terminal performance at ALL ranges.

Further, being a civilian and NOT being bound by the laws of war (Hague Accords, various and sundry unofficial agreements), you have the option of NOT using a military fragmenting load.

Explain yourself retard.
>>

>>
>>31786317

>>
>>31786250

>>
>>31786317

>So lemme get this straight.
AY YO HOL UP

>You, a civilian, are wanting something "much more lethal" than m193/m855.
If possible, yes. Don't want my bullets to just pass through. Want as much damage as possible.

Let's keep in mind, if the AR comes out of the trunk it is for a very, very good reason and caring about repercussions is out the window.

It's a question. Where one person asks for another's opinions about the viable round for what I'm looking for.

I'm new to the AR15 and 556/223 and there's so much out there I'm having a a hard time finding good answers to what I want.

To reiterate: unarmored targets. <60 yards.

The best terminal performance is the 62gr Barnes TTSX followed by the 70gr Barnes TTSX followed by the 64gr Speer Gold Dot followed by the 62gr Fed [Fusion, LE Barrier, same bullet].

OTM's are way down the list, behind any and all non-slavic softpoints.
>>
>>31786822
Best is unequivocally the 62gr Barnes TTSX, but it (and all the other Barnes bullets) are expensive.

I would honestly recommend either the 64gr Gold Dot load or the 62gr Federal LE Barrier Blind load, both commonly available for 60-70cpr. Which are cheaper than even the cheapest "mk262" clone, IMI's Razorcore, which is inaccurate as hell for some reason, and less than half the price of any of the mk318 loads.

is pretty close. i wouldnt be getting an ecos tho, i was looking at ta31rmr. ecos is FDE, comes on bobro mount and is ranged to 1000m ta31rmr is ranged to 600, comes on shit mount and ranged to 600.

warden is getting flipped, need some dosh and would rather have an acog than a "suppressor" :^

maybe i can sell it at ebay-tier pricing

They made 2800 of them between 1974-1981, of those no one knows how many were imported to the US or even survived. For the most authenticity you can find a P4, chop the barrel, relocate the front sight, bob the decocker and hammer and you're pretty much gtg. Or you can do the same thing with a P1 and most people couldn't tell the difference at a third the cost.

>>
>>31788251

You only need like 3 punches total, small medium and large. Just make sure you the smallest a 1/16th for your gas tube, and you the rest could be 1/8 and 3/32, or similar.

You only need a XL tapered punch if you are loosening factory pinned FSB pins.

Those upper clamps exert force on the upper which may warp it. Not good. I suggest investing in the magpul bev block, which can be used for the upper and lower. Go Geissele reaction rod if you want even better, but pricier. Get the Magpul armorer's wrench, which can be used for milspec barrel nuts, flash hiders and castle nut.

A rubber mallet would help not to scuff things up in tight situations. Some tape to mask the lower when punching pins also help.

A center punch might help stake castle nut, but I don't stake mine.

Aeroshell grease. Buy the 14oz for like 15 bucks, enough for a life time.

A pair of pliers, so you can pinch the end of roll pins to help drive them in. A drop of oil helps too.

Some people recommend roll pin punches, but I don't think they are necessary. It's up to you.

I bought a stripped lower and order a psa rifle kit,

What tools will I need.
I was going to order a gunsmith tool kit but I'd rather get a general one instead of an AR specific kit

Like this
https://www.midwayusa.com/product/143527/weaver-88-piece-deluxe-gunsmithing-hammer-punch-and-screwdriver-tool-kit

On the other hand would a kit lIke this still be useful for all my other guns?

I loved that 10.5" pistol. A part of me regrets selling it, but a part of me is also glad I did. The overall build wasn't really gucci enough for my tastes, and I was feeling a disillusioned by the terminal ballistics performance of 55 grain .223/5.56 out of the 10.5" barrel.

I'm going to build another pistol eventually though for sure, with a brace and everything. It'll be really similar to the one I did before, just more gucci and lighter.

Still waiting to hear back from Aero Precision. I just noticed that the handle they sent me is different than the handle they have listed on the store page. The one on the right is the one listed on their website while the one on the left is the one I got.

If they really won't exchange it I'll just order a new one and then ship back the old one and ask for a refund.

Pretty much the statistical significance of a myspace poll.
Also clutching to one poll that says his chances are less abysmal than the rest is just confirmation bias on your (and Breitbart's) part.

Nothing is wrong with it, it was fine up until the front nut stripped out. Now I'd like to swap it since I've literally never used it.

>>31789461
check out the cutout for the elevation adjustment knob. I actually like the cutouts on the aero precision one because they are a lot bigger and different than typical carry handle cut-outs. Mine is cut like a rectangle while the store page shows it as being more of a large oval.

Additionally, the square forge mark is in a slightly different orientation, though that could just be variations in how it's done, I don't really care about that.

>>31789472
The front nut stripped out as I was taking it on and off. Never used tools, just tightened it by hand. I never even got a chance to shoot the rifle with it on.

I am also looking at it (BoTach?).
