i am told that east german maks are the best in relation to bulgarian/ russian / chinese

altho baikal makes newer civilian maks and can be identified buy the adjustable rear sight, military maks have the stationary sights.

cheap mak ammo is almost as expensive as the good 9mm brands, so its not unreasonable .

I'm (hopefully) going to be selling a gun sometime over the next week or so, and I've been having a real hard on for the Yugoslav wars and Serbian guns. I'll be getting somewhere between $500 and $550 for the gun I'm selling, depending on what price the buyer and I eventually agree on. My question is, should I pick up a Yugo AK (gonna need a little more cash on top of what I get for my rifle) or a Yugo SKS?

I've already got three AKs but haven't owned an SKS in years, so I'm kind of leaning toward the SKS but I can be swayed either way. A local shop is selling fresh cosmoline covered Yugo SKSs for $500 out the door, whereas I'd probably have to find a Yugo AK online for a decent price which might prove difficult in today's climate.

What Rig? It's nice.

So my current pre-election mag count is 12 Beryls, 8 Circle 12s, 1 5 rd Arsenal (lol) and 1 Vepr RPK .223, for a total of 21 real "usable" evil high capacity and one cuck mag for shooting rest. I feel guilty not having more but it's harder than 7.62 or 5.45 mags. I also am pissed I got the wrong muzzle nut for the second time on my Norinco, but I'm just going to leave the ugly shit for now as it works.
>>
>>31747397
If you're new to AK's then I would suggest grabbing that WASR while you can.
They are a fine entry level AK and if you decide you want more, then you can always buy other brands later.

avoid

-RAS47
-High Standard
-C39 (C39V2 is apparently OK...but the original C39 is shit)

AK guys I feel you're most qualified to answer this.

Is there any inherent flaw int he Russian side optic mount?

I really want a fudd gun with a rear mounted peep iron sights but of course the scope gets mounted to the top taking all the valuable real estate.

SVD is probably a bad pic to use. But I had in mind tapping a new rifle for the standard AK bracket and using one of those mounts with scope rings instead of a rail to keep it low profile. Quick detach would allow me to use the peep should the need arise.

I just have an itch in the back of my head saying this system would just wiggle and shift too much to be reliable accuracy wise.

I wasn't going to do it myself. I don't have the proper tools to aligned and thread the holes.

I need to do more research first, just wasn't sure if it was worth the time and effort. In particular the overhang on an AK is probably in a different spot than a hunting rifle. I'd rather not have some Garand M1D offset, but straight over the bore.

Still debating. I'm doing mostly everything myself stock wise.

The obvious contenders are Remington 700 and any Generic Mauser action i can find but I really don't want to use a Milsurp action, even one that clearly has nothing left to give.

A blank commercial one is still on the table, its just a matter of finding one without RAILLZZZZ machined to the top and enough room to tap the rear for some sort of peep aperture.

The most promising one I've seen thus far is from Montana Rifle Company. Its loosly based off a mauser in a sense since its loosly based off the winchester model 70.

Alright boys, Just walked out the door of a local gunshop today with a 2015 production WASR for $530 otd (oh yeah).

The only part I do not like about it, other than the ugly ass yellow century wood (have rommy dong furniture on the way), is that it was previously owned and the guy polished the bolt and bolt carrier up to a mirror finish which while it does make the action all nice and buttery I do not like how it looks.

Can I just scuff up the carrier a little bit, go to home depot, and buy some black spray paint and fix my aesthetic autism or do I have to buy gunkote or some other bullshit gun paint online?

>Bought it the next day

I love it. It isn't a RC but definitely some other Combloc country snatched it. All I've done to it is clean all the cosmo out of it.

He also has a Chinese Norinco JW-25a which is basically a Mauser in .22or which I'm heavily considering. It's for $200 and they're insanely rare due to Chinese import laws passed by Slick Willy in the 90's.

I need some help with Romanian AKs. I got my hands on a PM md. 65 parts kit off of someone on the AK files, and I was wondering how I could tell if my kit was a domestic or export gun. Are there any different markings on the trunnion that will be able to tell me?

>>31743720
bought AMD63 back in may, barrel is not the best but it works despite what internet warriors say
>>
>>31751119
soo, you bought a kit and think it might be romanian?

>The PM md. 63/65 is almost identical to the AKM/AKMS, and thus is simple, inexpensive to manufacture, and easy to clean and maintain. The bore and chamber, as well as the gas piston and the interior of the gas cylinder, are generally chromium-plated. This plating dramatically increases the life of these parts by resisting corrosion and wear. Most md. 63/65 rifles lack a muzzle brake, but instead use a muzzle nut, as muzzle brakes entered production only in the late 1970s. The navy is the only remaining large scale operator of the md. 65 because of the weight of the metal underfolding stock.

The fire selector markings are as follows, from top to bottom: Domestic—S, FA, FF. Export—S, A, R.
>>
>>31751152

>>
>>31751292
Not him, but yes. PM md. 63/65s that were made for export were sold as AIM and AIMS respectively. Cugir did not put their arsenal stamp on guns destined for export.

If your kit's trunnion does not have a arsenal, then you'd want to get a receiver that has the S, A, R markings to keep it proper. If it has a aresnal mark, then you'd want the S, FA, FF markings on your receiver.
>>
>>31751273

I don't know if paint will hold up for very long.

Maybe you can knock the shine down with coarse steel wool and then hit it with cold blue, hoping it turns out dark enough.

Ok, I assumed a Galil as I heard that Galil 5.56 mags are not remotely the same as other 5.56 AK mags aside from Weigers or something. Honestly man, keep getting Beryl mags when you can, they are way nicer than the Bulgarian mags.
>>
>>31751943
they must be pretty close since people used to modify them to fit PAP pistols
hell, JG and other retailers were selling them
>>
>>31745906
I see, thanks.

Where is everybody getting 5.45 at? 1080 7n6 is like $250. I don't remember it being that expensive post ban.

>>

Well I reload all my pistol ammo, but I never started reloading any rifle ammo because 5.45 was so cheap. So now I'm low on it.
>>
>>31750225
These are the two AKs I have and I love them both. If you already have an AK in 7.62, get the 104 but if you have no AKs then definitely get the sam7.
>>
>>31752640

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but every source I use for ammo is stocked up and regularly priced.

Just use ammoseek. there are some other brands for the same price or less than 7n6 and they're not corrosive so you don't have to give your rifle a bath after you shoot.

Is there anyone who will ship ammo to a PO box?

Pic unrelated.
>>
>>31753565
Do you not have a residence ?
>>
>>31753573
I have a residence in a free state and a PO box associated with it, but I'm never there. I spend most of my time at my apartment in a ban state where I can't have ammo shipped.
>>
>>31753594
Ah i think you can as long as it fits in the box. Or just have it go to a friends house.
>>

Unfortunately, SG won't ship to any PO boxes, and cheaper than dirt wouldn't either. Now I'm wondering if anyone at all will.

USPS prohibited items include ammunition.

That's why it ships FedEx or UPS as an ORM-D, Cartridges, Small Arms. It's a type of hazmat.

Planning on buying first "real" gun.

Have a Marlin 60 .22, figured I'd go some AK variant next, however I like in Kikafornia so it has to be CA compliant.

Pref under $750, anything you would rec.?

Would love to get an ak, but I have no idea what I should look for. I want a beater that eats cheap ammo. What you got /k/?

Obzor bro's I need help. I just mounted mine on my Arsenal Bulgarian 5.45x39 and I adjusted the clamp so its super fucking tight like I can barely unhook the throw lever once it's on but there is still some flex when I push on it horizontally. Am I overthinking this or is something out of spec?

You don't have it mounted properly, you don't need to crank it down. Just adjust the castle nut so that when its on the gun it doesn't move at all and leave it at that. Adjust the nut, put it on, check for movement, if it moves take it off and adjust the nut one notch tighter and do it all over again until it's solid.
>>
>>31754746
I've gotten ammo shipped here before. I don't know if the company didn't know better, or if they were just doing me a favor, but it's come through. We'll see what happens this time.

Any of you dorks know where I could find a 1p29 scope?

I really want one for my AK74.
>>

You could just get a regular parts kit and have a gunsmith do the riveting steps for you. But what are you left with after that? Not much else.
>>
>>31755020
Could always try AK Files. I think a lot of .ru sites will ship to USA too. Have you checked Kalinka's website?
>>
>>31755048
I have, Kalinka doesn't have them even listed. I think they have the PO 4x24 which would be my second choice.

I know the PO is the better scope but I really like the old school Trilux sight picture the Russian's stole from the English

I like both and just wanted both. The ribbed looks more classic but the smooth looks more modern and sleek.

>>31755228
I was prepared for it either way, even if it didn't fit I still wanted one just cause they look cool and because I have no issues buying parts for guns I don't have. The material is a little thicker, so I'm assuming that's why it's so snug.

Well I'm moving to Florida from New York soon and I'm pretty hyped for freedom. What should I get first, an Arsenal AK (probably an SLR107) or a V93 (high end HK93 clone). I think the V93 is somewhat cooler but at the same time I already have my AR, pic related. What should I go with?

I love roller delayed guns so I vote the V93 but the Arsenal would be a really good choice too.
>>
>>31757026
Yeah it might be a good idea because the V93s seem to be getting scarce, Atlantic doesnt even have any. (not like Arsenals are particularly common though)
>>
>>31757000
I would definitely go with the AK, for many reasons. For one, 7.62x39 and 5.45 are pretty cheap per round, so you can shoot more. Plus, I find intermediate calibers more fun to shoot semi-auto. Plus, you've already got your AR, like you pointed out.

Plus, the 30 round high capacity assault clipazines will be one of the first things targeted by executive order. Better get a baby killer while you can.
>>
>>31757072
You realize the V93 shoots 5.56 right?
