How can I make my rifle less front-heavy? I keep thinking of going to an M-LOK or Keymod rail, but I'm wondering if swapping the Surefire G2X for an Arisaka 300 series would make a noticeable difference on its own.

That's what I was thinking and part of why I've held off on doing an upper rebuild. If I decided to do it, it'd get expensive quick since I'd want to go to a 13.7" barrel with a pinned 249F flash hider and Geissele rail. Guess I'll live with it as is for now.

Go buy a .22 bolt action gun. You don't need an AR or even anything semi-auto. If you've never owned a gun, there's a lot you need to learn about guns and owning them before you spend big bucks on a center fire.

After you've proven that you can keep a dinky little bolt gun running and rust free, then you can treat yourself to a nice AR or whatever else strikes your fancy. You might drop $200 on a .22 and then realize you don't have the time or ability to make it out to the range as often as you thought, and so dropping a lot of money on a bigger gun would be a waste.
