We'll supposedly find out what it is next week.

As much as I want it (and don't want it because good lord I don't need one but WILL buy one) to be a 5.45 molot RPK, I can't imagine them pricing it as low as $1k with how sweaty AK guys get about the prospect of factory RPKs coming in again.

If they do end up being RPKs I really do hope they limit the amount one person can buy, otherwise expect these to sell out within minutes to guys that will immediately relist them on GB or sell them at a gunshow for absolutely insane money.

I'll say this though, if they turn out to be anything but 1V 5.45 or 7.62 RPKs a lot of people are going to get real butthurt really quick.

Thinking about picking up a new NPAP (only reasonably priced entry level AK left). How bad is the metallurgy on this thing? I'm constantly hearing about peening on the bolt carrier. Also just saw the AKOU where the trigger pin kept walking out.
I also hate cleaning my guns and live in the PNW where it rains 24/7 which doesn't bode well for the barrel...
Will I hate this gun?

Not him but it's 2 Yugoslavian (Serbian, Croatian, or Bosnian likely) names

тyбa is a male nickname (Tuba)
Vesna is a womans name.

But since his name is in cyrillic it's likely he was Serbian, while her name is written with the latin alphabet, she was possibly Bosnian/Croatian/Macedonian.

>Serbs use both in their alphabet, but in Serbian cyrillic her name would've been spelled Becнa, but if she wasn't Serbian she would've likely spelled it with the latin alphabet, so he would've seen it and spelled it that way.

Just my guess, could be wrong.

>Russian weaponry discussion thread

Consider this:

So what if in the far future when humanity of Earth is now a space-faring faction with a respectable galactic-space military like in them sci-fi media:

The Russian forces of the Earth Government-Military Forces will still not only be using AK-47s/AK rifles and PK Machineguns. But will STILL be rolling out in T72s, T-80s, T90s and T14 Armatas; crushing hostile alien enemies under the treads of those tanks. And all of which are upgraded and fitted with future-sci-fi tech and captured alien tech that's reversed engineered.

At ~$1000 it would be worth it as there is a chance that bubba could have fucked the whole receiver and it would have to be rebuilt again. But at the very least it's going to have marks all over that side from grinding the welds back down, and the blueing is obviously going to be toast, which isn't as big of a deal as it can be redone. Those folders normally go for $2500 now, right?
>>
>>31407741
$2500 would be a steal on one in that condition IMO.. Really it's in great shape overall and it's got the import markings on the barrel (subtle) instead of the receiver which is awesome.

It would be an easier decision if it wasn't for Kvar's teaser

>I have decided it is time to move on from Akfiles. I have come to the discovery that certain degrees of pornography are tolerated here on this site. On my tenure at Akfiles I have avoided certain threads that I thought could have questionable material in them, like "Women with Ak's. Recently, on the Thread "Post to get you count up..." I encountered a pornographic photo that is approved by the site administrators. The image is of a beautiful women on all fours with her bare buttocks being the central focus of the photo. The stance that the women is in is clearly a sexual intercourse position. Even though her genitalia are covered by a thong the photo undeniably is meant for sexual arousal, therefore pornographic. The image that I am discussing would not be tolerated in everyday public life.
As a Christian, who is trying to be in good faith with our Lord Jesus Christ, I can no long be are part of a site that promotes a certain degree of pornography.

It may be new wood, It's a century so I'm not sure if they used new wood or surplus. My M70B1 has surplus furniture that's in great shape (came on the gun when I bought it) so it's not out of the question that some M72 wood came out unscathed.

As for the bakelite, there is no question that they were used by all sides during the war.

At that price they'll have no problem moving a 5.45 RPK, and they'll be nearly impossible to keep in stock in 7.62. I'd pay $1500 tops for a "factory" molot RPK in either caliber, but right at a grand it's a definite sale.

I would if I didn't want one so bad. It was just an estimated ship date any way, and Ian at FW talked with them and then answered my PM and told me that they are just having a hard time getting everything perfect. I asked him if it's possible they ripped me off and he assured me that they were good guys and I was definitely going to get my gun.
Plus, their pre-order numbers were WAY bigger than they thought it would be.

Not sure which thread fits better, but since it's an AK, I'll post it here.

So, hypothetically, since my WASR 10 has a 16 inch barrel, and with the bit of metal that the stock screws on to it comes out to little over 26 inches (25 if you only count the receiver, but the metal is fixed to the receiver so it should count for OAL) would it be legal to take the stock off and carry it like that? Since the OAL is greater than 26 it shouldn't be a weapon made from a rifle.

They call it Chu wood, I forget the Latin name. Really light, also pretty soft. Supposedly it's resistant to rotting.

Expanding on this, one of the mags has a slight dent in the side that prevents the little locking tab on the bottom of the spring from going into the hole on the floorplate, and only lets 24 rounds fit into the magazine before the follow seizes up on the dent.

Is there a way to fix this? Should I try to get a refunded mag that actually works?

New WASRs are apparently quite solid. I would go for the two good guns, instead of the one very good gun.

not too much. The pistol was $399, the can is fake just to make the rifle legal length until I do my paperwork, the red dot and rail I already had, the stock I made, and the conversion/refinish I did myself. Mostly time was spent. It shoots shit nice.

Arsenal SLR series and Mossberg 500.

With the magazines fitting issue, file or sand down the locking tab on the magazine with fine grit paper or file. File down only the bottom part of the tab that touches the mag release on your rifle. Go very slow and keep the paper/ file flat so you dont change the angle. You probably only need to remove a mm or two. So file/ and check it, repeat till it works. DO NOT file your catch. Easier and way cheaper to get new mags if you mess up the tab, not so much with the rifles catch.
As for the dent, if it feeds, it'll be fine don't worry about it, but if it's causing feeding issues, or it just bugs you, pry it out with screwdriver.

I removed the block at the back of the receiver, filled those holes up with weld, dressed them back down, drilled new holes to fit a bulgarian (if I recall) rear trunnion, pounded those rivets, shaped the stock to match. Attached like any other wood stocked AK. Picture is of the stock somewhere in the process. Used to be on a WASR. Then Apex had it for $20 bucks. Then I attacked it with power tools and sandpaper.

>>31414219
I can't complain. I'm not saying it's better than other sights of comparable cost, but it seems more correct on an AK then say an Aimpoint. It's held zero just fine, is easy on batteries, and easy to see through even when mounted forward.

So this here WASR has better grouping and tighter build quality than the older ones.

Any other ban-prone AKs out there? I'm going to throw a JP recoil eliminator + a modern stock on it so marginal loss or gain in accuracy isn't that critical.

Any current-gen WASR owners down to share your experience?

Ahh I for some reason thought you were referring to the stock in some way. Yes, it is true. I have never been in a situation where it was extreme enough to cause any issues. I really don't notice it. But, I could easily understand why and how it could be very annoying to some. Like I said somewhere above, you can do better for the same money, but I am using it because it is eastern and on an eastern rifle. If it were purely performance per dollar, there are better options. If you happen to be in the market, just consider what's important to you. As far as belomo goes, their side mount full tube red dots I am quite fond of. They aren't bad at all for the money and just look so right on an AK.

Okay thanks for the advice, I'll prob stick with Eastern but a lot of Eastern red dots will look funky mounted forward on an ultimak while I also really enjoy folding my stock so side mount is not really preferable. Leaving me with a railed dust cover, which most eventually lose zero. So I'll have to compromise somewhere, but thanks.
>>
>>31414557
I think both is a solid choice.

For fast go stamp poly, for range/stationary go thick accurate. My philosophy anyways.

I'm building a vepr for the latter, but in the market for a lighter stamped for some exercises. Problem is I have a bravo company and I want a good AK companion for it. Something light as well that I can tweak some accuracy out of.

Zingy boys was the name given to dead Russian soldiers in Afghanistan because their bodies were sent home in coffins made from zinc that were sealed and welded shut

Occasionally there'd be a small slit cut in the coffin at face level so that the family could have a final look at their dead soldier but mostly they were entirely sealed.

If you want it, go for it. Looks like it's from a serial batch before the shallow dimples and bubbling paint. I mean yeah, that's about $200 more than I paid for mine from atlantic last year but given you're not going to find them new anywhere but the secondary market you should expect this.
