Dude I know. We both do. That's on my list, as is an ace. The Vietnamese are actually using the ace as their new standard infantry rifle, and Tavor is for tankers and special forces. Both are made in Vietnam. If only I could get a factory tour....

Legally, no. ATF is supposed to approve parts kits importation. And the barrel is definitely beyond approval because it's considered a machine gun barrel.

The wz88 Tantal has a somewhat unique FCG: the selector is basically an on/off switch, and another selector on the left side of the rifle is used to select the fire mode. There is semi, burst, and full options.

The Russians have also played around with 3 round burst, although their solution isn't quite as elegant in my opinion. Basically the selector stop plate is modified so that the selector lever can go down extra far.
>>
>>31398928
Damn didn't know he had a Viet wife.

>>31398914
Don't think so. I'm no AK historian or expert, maybe someone else can pipe in. I actually don't know about the fcg of ARs the difference between auto and burst, I should look up how it works, but pretty sure akm's and 74's never had that option ever even in Russia .

did the deformation on the WASR only start with the AKT installed?
AKT might be excessively hard or have weird geometry or something

Are you sure all of that peening is from the akt? What trigger did you have beforehand and what round count beforehand?

This seems to point to an inconsistency between either the hardness of the akt or the hardness of the BCG.

While I am interested to see the Viets moving in an interesting direction with weapons procurement (this whole lifting of the arms embargo could lead to a lot of interesting outcomes), I'm slightly concerned because other than adopting some camo and variations in kit, a lot of their equipment looks like it has not changed significantly since the war ended 40 years ago. While I don't doubt their combat capability, a lot can change in 4 decades.

So a small part of me has been toying with, at some point in the future, whether or not to send one of my SLRs in to Rifle Dynamics.

- Sandblast, parkerize and Norrells Moly Resin finish
- Rifle Dynamics custom front end
- Ultimak scope rail
- Fit bolt/bolt carrier and trigger group
- Weld up gas block and sight tower pin holes
- Krebs retainer plate
- Dehorn
- Fuller rear sight mod
- Testfire and zero

How much of this would really do anything for an SLR-104FR/107FR?

I can't remember anything too specific but one I recall him with a group who were using artillery to drive out a group of Khmer Rouge in an area. After they blew the fuck out of the place anyone who ran out and survived they just mowed down with rifles. He says that he learn Khmer language but myself nor anyone else in the family can confirm whether he's bullshiting or not as it just sounds like he's speaking gibberish especially when he's drunk which is often.

Me and Daewoo both have akts in our WASRs and slr's. Neither of our arsenal rifles have significant wear on the carrier. My WASR does. Looks like Daewoo's now, but it seems to have stopped progressing. I guess the carrier is softer in the Romanians.

Doesn't Jim Fuller want something like $1,200 for everything in your list? I don't know what the true benefit of having any of that stuff would be on an AK. I do know however with that money I would much rather have another rifle or stock up on ammo and more mags.

The ATF killed imports of 7n6 by reclassifying it to bring it under a specific category already banned from importation. Arbitrarily banning import of all Russian ammunition would be an incredibly wasteful use of whatever political capital Hillary may have left after the election and it's certainly not something she can do in good faith by using EO. It would be such blatant and unwarranted interference with international commerce that even the most liberal judge (unless said judge is disgustingly corrupt) would have to admit that she's exceeding the authority of her office.

For what it's worth, I'm not saying don't worry about it, I'm saying get ready to respond to it. Use all of the boxes. All of them.

Well, steel ak mags and ptr mags are cheap as fuck, and you've been spoiled now to think that all mags should be as cheap. I wish they were. In fairness, I got Magpuls when I didn't know shit and they were at Cabela's. And besides muh aesthetics, they actually work well. I'll be buying steels and bakes here on out, but what's your average 7.62 Izhmash bake cost, 30? 25 if you buy a dozen or more? Well 5.56 mags are close to that, and most all of them aside from any of the clear or smoke ones are milspec in quality and will last you. Unless we're talking about 101 mags, 5.56 mags are hardly unobtanium. And I'd recommend a nato caliber ak to add to your collection. I don't even shoot ARs anymore since getting my 106.

I really don't even want to recommend them just because of how awful the company is as a whole but Tapco actually makes a decent 5.56 caliber magazine that isn't a total piece of shit like almost every other magazine they make. I wouldn't recommend that you stock up on them or anything but you can buy a few just to hold you off and use as range mags while you save up and buy Bulgarian waffle magazines as you come across them. They cost about 11 or 12 bucks each so who cares if they're not going to last forever. They are good enough to run the rifle while you save up and get 10 or 20 good mil-spec magazines.

It's funny, I'm actually curious to see if Magpul manages to unfuck their shit and make a decent AK mag with this 5.45 abomination they're coming out with.

I'm currently sitting on just 10 mags for my 104 (9 tantals and a Circle 10), and for 13 bucks a pop for the 5.45 Magpuls that are coming out it sounds horribly tempting.

Honestly the only thing from Tapco that I have any semblance of trust for is their G2 trigger, and the AKT already blows that the fuck out.

Why can't someone just make cheapass reliable steel 7.62x39/5.45x39 mags that are made to EXACT commie specifications and crank those out like hotcakes? It can't be that fucking hard, or expensive, can it?

There's no incentive to do so when surplus steel mags are still flowing freely for much less than what an American made steel mag would cost.

Literally all magpul had to do is take a circle 10 waffle and build something with similar specs but they couldn't even do THAT right. I get the feeling their 5.45 mag is going to fall flat when they release the all plastic version that NOBODY ASKED FOR. Sorry homeboys, your AR mags are fine but when I can get properly reinforced surplus mags for around $30 it's not even worth considering the alternative.
>>
>>31402903
A govt. doesn't have expectation of profit and surplus things out at a fraction of the cost to actually manufacture.

New privately made Croatian mags are about 14-14 bucks, given the nature of a private enterprise and actually having to have the concept of things like overhead, employee wage and overall profit that's about on par.

Obviously he already explained he didn't mean BCG but the BCG doesn't affect headspace just so you know. You can swap them freely. Headspace is affected by the positioning of the bolt face, trunnion lugs and the barrel face.
>>
>>31403313
I have a story for that.

I ordered a 5.45 bullet guide from K-Var and my builder didn't rivet it because it was "the wrong one."
Come to find out, K-Var sent me a 7.62 bullet guide instead of the 5.45 I ordered, and I learned to inspect all parts, especially new, before throwing them in my build box.
Good to know that if he installed it, I probably wouldn't have had too many issues.

I have had a few FTFs before I got it converted, but they all happen on the last round of a mag, an usually only if the mag wasn't fully loaded.
