Should have made it IO edition. For those who have missed the fun:

https://youtu.be/_Kv0Q9GI43w
https://youtu.be/AyNHQ_yIFs0
https://youtu.be/FcTRirjTBkA

It has come to our attention that a so called "torture test" was performed with our firearm by an internet blogger. The test started by the blogger hiding behind the actual shooter of our firearm while he was wearing ornamental "safety gear." So it is very plain to see the implied intention of the individual conducting the tests. To add, there are a lot of derogatory comments made about our product. So the so called neutral test was maybe not so neutral at all.

We at Inter Ordnance manufacture a quality product and we guarantee our veteran made firearms for life. Unlike certain bloggers who call themselves experts, and have a certain agenda, we actually have graduated engineers working for us who are true professionals. We have communicated directly with this individual to provide assistance and to request that he send the product back to us for inspection by our engineering team. He has denied our request to send the rifle in to verify the true cause of his problem with our product.

At our manufacturing plant we have test facilities equipped with Rockwell hardness testers and magnetic particle inspection equipment to ensure that there are no flaws or cracks in our material. Our firearms are made to the true polish military blueprints and we have many rifles at our manufacturing plant which have in excess of 10,000rds fired through them.

A test by a renowned independent gun writer team with our firearms is being conducted and a report will be published as soon as it becomes available.

We at Inter Ordnance guarantee the quality workmanship and longevity for each product. We have you covered for life.

We appreciate your business and look forward to welcoming you to our ever growing Inter Ordnance family.

I've never dealt with IO build quality, but have I have dealt with Royal tiger, which back then was the retail and import division of IO (I don't know the relation to current IO. I doubt it has changd)

People, myself included, got fucked in the ass by them for buying supposedly excellent condition surplus guns. Turns out parts were missing or replaced with shit, took about a week to get a hold of a rep through direct mail since they didn't answer through any of their listed numbers or emails, and some people never got a refund (I didn't get a refund for over night shipping)

If they couldn't even do basic inspection on guns they imported, I wouldn't trust the quality control on shit they make themselves.
>>
>>30960127
I think it's still the same association. It's the only place where I've seen IO guns other than AKs for sale.

The weird bi-pod on the c39 makes me want to throw up. And it doesn't tuck in proper so I bet it's front heavy as all hell whether the bi-pod is folded in or not.
IDK why they can't just take the final extra steps when they made them.
And I like having the folder stock on my rpk, but the sling point positions leave a lot to be desired compared to yours. Those extra few inches make a big difference if you ever sling it over your shoulder and want it to feel balanced.

The whole rifle makes me want to vomit, that wonkity-ass bipod just being one of many things wrong with it. I'm pretty sure it's made with the same shitty components that were found in the first iteration of the C-39, too.
>the sling point positions
I think I've slung mine exactly once, and that's when I took it on a hog hunt. Otherwise, I just haul it via rifle-carry or, sparingly, using the carrying grip. I really doubt the sturdiness of that thing when you've got a 75 round drum of 7.62x39 racked in.

I have one of each, both Romanian. Don't get me wrong, the new production rear-loader is solid as hell and has not given me a single issue. However, I'm partial to the top-loader for a number of reasons. One, it's authentic. Two, I find the top-loading to be easier than loading from the rear. Three, I think it just looks better. I think you can still get these surplus RPK drums for about $100-$120.

Very clever. Try to take the rifle away from him instead of seeing how far he could go with it, then sending him a actual rifle.

>veteran made firearms
Irrelevant and don't be one of those faggots that hide behind veteran status

>IWI said the tooling for OG Galils doesn't exist anymore so the chance of IWI ever making original Galils along with the Galil Ace series is zero
>>
>>30962742

They can't even stop dragging ass with the 5.56 and .308 ACE models. You know, the ones everyone wanted instead of 7.62x39? Why on earth would you ever expect 1) that they'd deliver them in any timely manner 2) that the ATF would ever again approve the import of something IWI intends to convert into a scary black rifle?
>>
>>30963106
Because Jews love money and they're missing out on a chance to make it.
However you're right the ATF would make it hell trying to get it back up.
>>
>>30963146

Honestly I wouldn't expect the ATF to let anything new in until next year, depending on the election, if ever again. Keep in mind all they have to do is deny an application for literally any bullshit reason (read: no reason at all) and force the company to resubmit over and over and over again until an EO comes down that cuts off import of "sporting" rifles if the company intends to convert them to rifles that otherwise couldn't be imported before selling them. Just like 922r was written in part because people would just bring in otherwise illegal to import weapons as parts and assemble them here.

That's how it's going to go. They don't have to enact an AWB, they can just flip a switch and shut the whole machine down.

I got a whole package for 150, used. Which might not have been the best idea in afterthought.

The question then is just wether to go with ace or Krebs. Depending on the space between rear trunnion and folding mechanism, so that it can rotate without an issue
>>
>>30964098
Fitment and placement of the mounting holes.
The ACE blocks are mounted from the outside of the receiver, and the holes to screw your stock or hinge mech are off center because of it.
The Krebs mounts from the inside and the outside mounting holes are high low and center, as opposed to just low.

Also ditch the ACE hinge for a Stormwerkz as soon as you can, the ACE hinges have been known to have the pin walk out from recoil.

Hello /k/ids, I've wanted to build an AK since the days of plentiful sub-$100 kits a decade ago. I had to put those dreams on hold due to poverty and other reasons, but now I'm finally in a position to do it.

I see a lot's changed over the years, kits are a lot more expensive and imported barrels seem to have disappeared.

Has completing 80% lowers become an easy task like with ARs? I remember back then that there were two standard options for receivers, one of which required a 20-ton press (preferably bought on sale at Harbor Freight, of course).

Let's say I wanted to build a basic AK in 7.62x39 -- what's the preferred kit, barrel, and receiver kit to use?
>>
>>30965094
Shit was fucking infuriating, no matter what I did the handguards always came out so goddamned dark compared to the grip and stock.
>>
>>30965113
Yeah, color matching is not exactly fun.
Especially on pieces of laminate that are likely chosen at random, and not for their match in color.

I made a thread but no one answered so I thought I'd post it here

I want to build an AK but I don't know where to start. If you want an Ar15 it's easy to find builders(or do it yourself) and quality parts but for AKs it seems much for difficult.

Does anyone know a good builder who isnt backed up for months?

Where do you get proper and quality barrels and receivers?

I want muh rivets

Pic related, what I'm wanting to build.
It seems more expensive if I buy a rifle first and then swap everything out and parts kits have gotten expensive and again, have parts I don't need

>Has completing 80% lowers become an easy task like with ARs?
Building an AK will NEVER be even remotely similar to "building" an AR.

"Building" an AR is simply putting together some Lego parts in your room, whereas building an AK is a legitimate assembly and fabrication process that requires tools mostly found in machine shops. The tools alone needed for an AK build are going to run ~$500 and are going to need some considerable space to store and use.

The general consensus is that if you need to ask what you'll need to build an AK from a parts kit then you already don't have what it takes to build an AK.

Watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrkPCn3LmaA) of Flandre building a rifle and READ READ READ up on building.

But to answer your questions:
>what's the preferred kit
Whatever you can find cheapest and/or most complete. Polish kits are always popular and good, as are Bulgarian kits for 5.45
>barrel
Surplus in good condition, otherwise Green Mountain is still producing some of the best US made barrels and AKbuilder barrels are also good.
>receiver
NDS are always desirable

Ha. Ha ha ha. That's a good one. The cheapest you're likely to find it (without a friend in Russia) is one of the group buys here for around $25 a mag.

Those clear polish mags arent a bad buy either. Usually around 15 bucks a piece.

Is that specific to that stock? Or is that some kind of peice that makes folding trunnion stocks possible on fixed trunnions?

a tripfag on here is going to do a group buy for bakelites in a week or two. keep an eye out for VAfag and ask him about it next time you see him. He's compiling an email list and will contact us when he has more info.

ps, they won't be "cheap" but they will be well below retail prices.

Anyone here used an MRO on an AK? I'm trying to decide between one of the nicer Holosuns or an MRO and I'm cautious about the MRO because of the earlier issues with them and the fact that they can't cowitness with an AK. They do seem like the more well built optic though.

I've got a question. The new SLR-104 I bought seems to have a slight crease under the front trunnion rivets in the receiver on both sides. Is this an issue? I've never seen an AK with these before so I want to know if I should be worried.

I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

Just picked this up yesterday, NIB. Ordered a recoil buffer, new spring/guiderod assembly, and charging handle so far.

Any good recommendations on other upgrades? I hate the stock foregrip, but can't seem to find a lot of replacement options besides a Chaos key or quad rail, and I don't really want either of those. Not into the tacticool look.

Would also love a Maxrounds drum, but at $650 is it really worth it?

>Hey /akg/, are Yugo N-PAPs any good?

Vepr is best rifle. Accepting substitutes is turd instead of tootsie roll.
>>
>>30975840
>recoil buffer, new spring/guiderod
For what purpose?
It's new, why replace parts that are fine or in the case of the recoil buffer, useless snake oil?

As for the handguards, RPK handguards will fit the Vepr 12 with minor fitting.

Maxround drums are way overpriced and not really worth it, in my opinion.
I'm waiting for the SGM drums to get some reviews, and I might consider one of them.
>>
>>30976064
Yes. If you're looking at a Yugo, get an underfolder. The furniture compatibility with other AK models is limited, so you may as well get the version with less interchangeable parts.

Underfolders are also really damn fun.
>>
>>30976132
From what I've seen/read, the Carolina replacement parts should do better with low brass ammo. If that's not the case, then shit. At least I've got some extra parts for later? I hate the push button that came on the rod holder anyways, so will be swapping that ASAP.
>>
>>30976192
Rack it 500 times, and it'll be fine with low brass.
>I hate the push button that came on the rod holder anyways
Do what?
The retainer lock that is meant to hold the top cover on/down under recoil?
There's a reason that Molot went with it over a more standard recoil spring retainer.

I mean it's your gun, if you choose to go with different parts that's on you.
I'm just saying I find it odd.
>>
Just a threadly remark:

Save up and spend a bit more. The N-PAPs and WASR's are turds.

Save up and get a Vepr.

Will it cost more? Yes.

Do you have to customize it? Probably, depending on what you buy.

Will you have a much better rifle? Yes.

If you have a LGS where you can look at all the next to each other, the choice is obvious.

N-PAP and WASR are probably good 'hood guns though. Just not at the same standard as a Vepr.

I'm just trolling you guys.

Although I did compare a WASR, an N-PAP, and a Vepr at my LGS recently.

They had one WASR, and it was missing bits. I wasn't impressed by it, other than it being cheap.

They had various N-PAP's, and they were rusty, bad geometry, just shit. The N-PAP's had Tapco G2 triggers, but the fit and finish on them was just trash.

I ended up getting a Vepr.

So all the trash talking and trolling aside:

I considered the options recently:

WASR: Nah
N-PAP: Nah
Vepr: Hella yes

>>30976787

The Molot Vepr is built based on an RPK receiver. Common knowledge.

>If it wasn't used I'm sure century would fix that for you, the only thing they wont take care of are cants which are rare on new production

I considered that, because I've read things where Century goes the extra mile to make peeps happy.

But once I put it up next to a Vepr, that became a moot point.
>>
>>30976994
Eh, I still prefer features like regular ak furniture without the dumb adapter, you aren't missing much with a wasr as the heavy barrel will only make a difference when you magdump +250 rounds in 2 minutes.

Do you remember if the bolt carrier was blued or not? What furniture did it have?
>>
>>30959409
What is a good /akg/ approved AK variant for a no guns? I don't want my cheap shit.....not do I want to spend a ton. Just nice mid grade AK.

7.62?
5.45?
>>
>>30977144
First ak should be 7.62
New production WASRs aren't trash, all of the memes come from pre-2008 production WASRs.
It's a perfect starter AK.
If you want to have lwss options for furniture but are tistic about the durability of stamped AKs, then go with an Npap, they have thicker receivers than your average ak. But you have less customization options due to Yugos being special snowflakes.
>>
>>30977201

An sks in this day in age is solely for collectability if you really want one so much.
>>
>>30977340

>>30977404
One of the is Romanian, aka like an exact "copy" of a Russian AKM, the Npap is Yugoslav, it is a bit different in terms of furniture, you can't use akm furniture on a Yugo rifle. Also, some of the Yugos have grenade launchers which is neat. Basically, they are both good rifles, as of recently WASRs have had a huge increase in quality, you can be assured that with a 2015 wasr that you won't get any fucked up rivets and the worst case is a canted sight, any worse than that and you can contact them and have them fix it/replace it.

>>30977439
Yeah, better late than never, shit, I think you did pretty good on the price as well, Yugos aren't getting imported any time soon.
>>
>>30976897
>pencil barrel

This was beaten to death in a raging orgy a month or two ago. The WASR's barrel profile is the same or close (as in within hundredths of an inch) to other commercially available AK's.
>>
>>30977404
If you want a "generic" AK get a WASR. Compatible with standard furniture, nothing special about it. Average quality, average price. NPAP are a bit higher quality, but don't have the same extent of parts compatibility. Unique stock type, and longer handguards. NPAP underfolders are nice though.

It's just the shapes stamped into the side of the receiver that may or may not make your build more authentic looking. Look at the pictures on the website and look por the stamp next to the "X" that looks like a "Y". They "I" stamp is towards the bottom of the receiver on the left side.
