Draw them strand by strand, don't make them too close to each other. Then connect them when you think the strand amount is enough. It's that easy.

And to color it, just give some shading that goes inline with the hair strands. Use both darker color and immensely lighter color to represent shadows and shiny reflections. Most anime artists utilize shading as a method of abstracting the hair strands, but Ejima Eri as you can see here draws a lot of strands as well. Finally, make their fore hair glisten more than the rest of their hair.

Also, my suggestion is take reference from real life hair, because most weeb hairstyles looks like. Most anime characters may have sameface, but their hair must contain a lot more characteristics than their faces as a compensation, so don't fuck it up.

look at the proportions and think about what makes the style distinctive. for that piece, I'd say long eyelashes, glittery eyeballs, rodent mouths, and baby hands on top of a generic anime body. the coloring is saturated and shading is minimal and soft.

improving in art means learning how to problem solve, so really think about what makes it identifiable.

The shoulder looks flat and too dense. The hair (both the drawing technique and hairstyle) is shit. The smug is disgusting and out of place (overall the facial structure and gesture need a lot more idiosyncrasy, you're just parroting generic anime art style). Nose looks flat. Shoulder to ass ratio could be better.

Overall, there's no special appeal about this pic save for the racks, which are admittedly well drawn and shaded although they look awkward proportionally. But that's alright, I prefer cute tits over accurate tits.

Minor fixes here.
Made the bust less cartoony, made the hips a bit bigger. Added a little life to the hair. Moved the expression around a bit.

The linework to the bg of this piece looks good even if some stuff looks a little slanted. It looks like this picture really took a shit when it came to the coloring and rending. Look at more reference to see how the lighting works. Keep things consistent too, it looks like you started doing the grass in one way and then gave that up to use a brush in a really unconvincing way and it looks off.

So thin her out. I gave her curves so it'd be easy to see how things could be better positioned.
Fix the way your face slopes & shrinks and you're good to go with styling it whatever way you want.
Even if you're going for a skeletal girl, the tits are still mispositioned/misshapen and her hipbone starts too low. The way the side ponytail thing comes over her shoulder also makes no sense, and you need to give some acknowledgement to the fact that she has a ribcage. The ear is also fucked. Redraw it or preferably don't show it at all.

Anyway i agree that the guy's drawing is much better than my own, his is more consistent and much more anatomically correct. Also looks really nice.

I didnt mean to come off as someone who thinks his work is the best, I will be trying to apply to my own picture what i learnt from his.

Yeah, her head is squished, mostly: transform it and plump out the back of her head a bit for healthiness. Everything on her face is a little dislocated.
Also rounded the pupils out a bit out of preference and fixed some quick things with her body/clothes (shrank down her head, stretched her body, made her arm positioning more comfy, enlargened her hand, fixed the way her turtleneck wraps around her neck etc.)
Really cute though.

Did some lurking around and it seems that for cartoons, anime, etc. that the Fun With a Pencil approach seems much more practical for constructing heads. You only really need the "full" version of loomis heads from "How to Draw Heads and hands" for more realistic styles and to understand the planes of the face. The way the Fun With a Pencil simplifies the head construction is pretty easy to master and has a lot more room to play around with than the latter version. Just felt like mentioning it for some of you anons who are struggling with the loomis meme
