/sci/ told me to come here.
Hungarian here.
I did a DNA test and discovered there is .1% Yakut.
My question is, is this from western migration of Yakut to the ancient Hungarian land east of the Ural Mountains? Or is that too long ago for any genetic material to be present?
The other possibility, is Yakut soldiers in the Mongol armies enjoyed the "spoils of war" during the Battle of Mohi in 1241? Maybe. That is closer to a better possibility.

I got the same thing and my ancestors are mostly North West Europeans(97.4%) with the rest being generally European. Could be from a Hun, could be from a mongol, could be some ancient Eurasian race that's most related to the Yakut, who knows.

Finns and Hungarians are distant relatives, and Yakuts are even more distant relatives to them; when northern Siberian hunter gatherers begun moving westwards as the ice started pulling back in Europe, some tribes went north-west (Baltic Sea Finns), some west west (Volga Finno-Ugrics), some stayed east of Volga (Magyars) and some stayed far east of Urals (Yakuts)
thus Magyars might share common ancestors with Yakuts when you go 10-15k years backwards.
or one of your ancestors was a rapebaby.
