Copying my chromium profile from my backup location(which i was running it on while i was restoring data) no longer works. It presents this error message.I checked for any lock files in the profile, and there are none. However if i point via command line to my backup profile, it works as expected. How do i restore my profile? There are no zombie or background chromium processes.

Failed to create a ProcessSinzgleton for your profile directory. This means that running multiple instances would start multiple browser processes rather than opening a new window in the existing process. Aborting now to avoid profile corruption.

typeing

But I've been trying to get it to apply on startup.

you can read the source but most distributions and devices using linux have a compiled kernel out of the box.

and for any usa based packages mirror servers, the us government can force the hosting provider to do something like
"when that IP want to update the kernel (or something else), sent him this package instead"

I'm trying to install it, but the default base-system package is full of bloated shit my puny 16gb SSD doesn't need (e. g. man + manpages). I tried removing that shit after the install forcefully, and now I've ended up in dependency hell. What is the appropriate way to install a la arch where you can pick packages from the base group, so I don't have to install a bunch of useless shit I don't need? Should I just manually install the packages I need instead of going through the installer, or do I have to rebuild base-system and strip it of some of the useless dependencies?

I am looking at Artix, seems comfy.
I am completely lost on getting it installed via .iso
Do you literally just install some sort of Arch then follow their migration tutorial on the site? Or am I a shitty normie who doesn't understand how to install from a live terminal? Because I just get a terminal (and a message about a CPU core hanging but that could be the graphics card).

I wanna go balls deep.

>>

>>
>>62187615
Looks like you essentially do an arch install and modify the repos that pacman uses. This should be done before the <pacman -S base> step. The Arch install process is just a chroot install, which can be used for any distro anyway.

It's a mark-up language. It's what people usually use to make their theses. I made my cv with it as well.

It's different from word in the sense that you compile a text (.tex) file and a pdf document is generated. Not sure if it's what you're looking for.

So, I'm trying to install a theme for xfce and it's pulling in a ton of dependencies. One of them happens to be gnome-shell and I'm trying to get around installing systemd by using that systemd stripped gnome overlay...and it's kind of a pain. Gnome shell is pulling in gdm which is pulling in a hardlinked pambase version with systemd, and I'm not sure how to get around this. What do?

I've seen some stuff regarding faking the gdm installation and trying to proceed, but I don't even have the profile directory in /etc/portage so I'm not sure the advice even applies to me.

Gnome overlay: https://github.com/dantrell/gentoo-project-gnome-without-systemd

Some output (emerge and emerge --info): https://ghostbin.com/paste/zdtvz

It wasn't me who answered. I know what the 'f' in /fglt/' stands for.
>>
>>62187865
There's no way a GTK theme should pull in gnome-shell and gdm. It's some USE flag that you have enabled or a faulty ebuild with fucked up depends. Is the theme's ebuild from some overlay? Changing your profile to dantrell's is a retarded "fix" that'll just cause more problems

No, you have to enable HW decoding, else all the work has to be done by the CPU.
Anyway, make sure mesa-vdpau-drivers package is installed and then try running mpv from command line to test it:
mpv --vo=vdpau --hwdec=vdpau movie.mp4

If it works without errors, create or edit the config file in ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf
vo=vdpau
hwdec=vdpau

I have a weird issue with KDE.

The leftmost 1-pixel-border of the screen doesn't respond to clicks. If I have a window focused over full-screened Chrome for example, if I move the mouse all the way to the left and click anywhere on that border it won't refocus Chrome - but move it 1 pixel to the right and that does the trick.

Suggesting a GNU+Linux install to normies isn't as bad as it was years ago. Normies understand how distros like Mint, Ubuntu, etc work pretty fast. There even was some Anon some months ago who turned his grandma into a Linux Mint user.

All you need is a usb stick with a live distro, boot from it and place a normie in front of it for a while and all the fear and prejudices will fall in seconds. If not, you still have tried.

In nomine Patris et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

Check if it left any configs in your .config directory.

Or, make a new user, go to its home directory, start xfce from a-new, then copy the new default configs to your user. But that will mean you gotta re-rice your shit or something.

Xfce had this weird config in there, can't remember what it was called. It has a directory under .config as Xfce4 or something. Try finding these and debugging them. Or remove the lxqt config dir from the .config dir.
