>>
>>62046637
Why the need for two cameras?
>>
>>62046889
Optical zoom like iPhone 7+ and OP5
>>
Just got the OnePlus 5. It won't charge past 84%. Has anyone had a similar problem? Going at lunch to get a new cable. This sucks.
>>
I wanted to wait for the reveal of huawei mate 10 before I got the note 8. But that thing is in september. Can't wait much longer since my phone is dying.

Wish the note 8 was 7-8". It's clearly meant to be used less as an actual phone, it's versatile, but it's not small enough to easily carry, not big enough to make use of all the multitasking..
>>
>>62047103
Were you charging with the original cable and charger? Also, afaik it won't DASH charge with an non-Oneplus cable.
>>
What's are some good phones to buy second hand to save money?
Like, something in the 200$ range which is more usable than a new one around the same price?
'Don't care about size or features as long as it just werks.

Is a Huawei Honor 8 Lite worth 90€?
What android version does it run and can I install any custom ROM?
>>

Yes original cable and wallout. I'm at work currently. Using my old wall out with new cable and it's charge past 84%. Strange.

Had a warranty claim pending to fulfill

They give me these phones to choose from (mine was a RN3P Snapdragon)

Oukitel K6000 plus 4/64 GB gold
Redmi Note 4 3/4 GB silver Helio X20
Redmi Note 4X 4/64 GB gold Helio X20

Which one should I choose?

Already bought a Redmi 4A thinking the replacement would not arrive
>>
>>62047218
Just buy a chink phone, you can get really nice chink phones for $200 like zuk z2 or redmi note 4 global
>>
>>62047339
Don't buy the zuk z2, overheats like a bitch and battery life is meh.
The redmi note 4 is a lot better, specially in the battery front.
>>
>>62047308
They need to give you proper model information. There's no such thing as a redmi note 4x with helio x20.

You should get the redmi note 4 global
>>
>>62047255
Very good deal at 90€. It sells for ~200€ here. It's on 7.0 Nougat afaik, don't expect custom ROMs for it as it has a Kirin SoC rather than Snapdragon.
>>
>>62047353
It really isn't. I've bought a redmi note 3 pro, a note 4 global and zuk z2.

Camera is better on the z2 than both and the note 4 global is noticably slower than both because the weak single core performance of the 625. Zuk z2 gets 6hrs SoT like most SD820 phones which is above average considering most older shit in 5in gets like 4hrs. Z2 charges faster as well. While I've never played heavy games on the Z2 I asked my gf if it ever gets hot and she says no, and she's had it for half a year now.
>>
>>62047390
Using it for nothing but facebook/instagram or something casual means nothing. When you do heavy stuff or "game" the phone will heat up to 65C
>>
>>62047354
It's the Redmi 4 pro prime 4/64 with the Helio X20

Can't choose apart from these three. If I don't reply they'll send the one they want
>>
I'm loving the Moto G5

Then again it's my first smartphone since 2012
>>
>>62047354
>There's no such thing as a redmi note 4x with helio x20
There is now actually. Why Xiaomi decided to confuse everyone and call it Note 4X, god knows.
>>
>>62047384
So I should get it?
>>
>>62047431
If you don't mind not having custom ROMs then yes. It's a good phone and a very good price.
>>
>>62047450
Well it seems a lot better than my old chinkphone with sd615.
has 1gb more ram and a bit bigger battery.
>>
>>62047403
She plays games and never has heat issues. All SD820 phones in general run hot when pushed, it's a fact of the CPU especially in 5in with less surface to spread the heat.

While I've never installed something like tales of the rays on it, I'd probably prefer using her phone for it over my rn3p which has more loading screens than gameplay and drops to like 20fps in common gameplay.

The RN4G with sd625 is even worse, I don't even like loading the game on that shit. Takes too long to load to bother playing.
>>
>>62047414
Does it have the full metal body of the Redmi Note 4 MTK or the plastic/metal one of the 4X or 4 SD

Yes I'd choose the Snapdragon too but can't choose. Maybe I should get the one with higher resale value
>>
>>62047468
Bullshit, I have the phone and it does overheat like hell, don't go around and talk shit. There is tons of people out there that have had enough of the zuk because of the overheating issues.
>>
>>62047308
get the 4x with SD625. The mediakek on 4 is shit and heats alot
>>
>>62047471
>Maybe I should get the one with higher resale value
That's what I'd do
>>
>>62047477
Whatever man. I used the phone for a week before I gave it to her just to make sure the indian zui ROM wasn't a pile of shit because she was coming from an iphone 5s and I never noticed the heat at all, and I pretty much sit on my phone all day waiting for deliveries. It's flat out better than my rn3p in almost every way besides zui being worse than miui, the smaller screen and battery life. Maybe get pajeets hacked together rom off your phone
>>
Bought mi 5 64gb for $185, used a coupon tho. I wish Psp games are not laggy
>>
>>62047533
ZUI is indian or are you memeing?
>>
>>62047544
ZUI "indian rom" is made by zuk FOR the indian market since that's the only English market it's sold to. It's not hacked together by a comp sci student on a forum.

>>62047541
They shouldn't be. I played through Crisis Core on my weaker RN3P with zero lag, played like the actual PSP.
>>
>>62046838
>seems like another thing that contributes to planned obsolescence
Yeah, Samsung really put an effort into designing the most fragile series of smartphones the market has ever seen.
>>
Is the android o release a meme? Feels like they started adding new useless stuff since its pretty much done now.
>>
>>62047582
Its matured now, they are going to make it a bigger piece of shit from now on
>>
>>62047541
What store, what coupon?
>>
>>62047520
Can't choose apart from those three. Already knew that, thanks anyway
>>
>>62047623
If the 4x is really a helio then maybe the heating problem is resolved because its newer, underclocked or something

Alright /g/ help me figure out if I've been chinked.

>bought the Redmi Note 4X online from Hong Kong, was shipped to New Zealand
>MIUI version is Global 8.2 MCFMIDL
>in settings "model number" says Redmi Note 4
>but product number is 2016101, which is apparently definitely a Note 4X
>in frequency checker pic related says the Note 4X CN and TW versions have different bands
>no idea how to check which one my phone is

Basically, I'm an idiot and don't know what phone I have, I just want to know for sure what bands the thing I have supports. I'm sure the hardware is a 4X and I think the ROM is from a 4, just don't know if I have the CN or TW.

Also why is it a good idea to flash my own ROM?

He's right. Goldway is naming the RN4 with 4/64 GB and MTK as 4X prime pro

Copying my post from earlier:

Dropped my Galaxy S6 in the toilet for like 2-3 seconds about 3 weeks ago. I somehow saved it with hair dryer and rice, and it works almost perfectly. But the antenna or something is fucked, cause I can barely get any signal for SMS/Calling/4G. I can sometimes use 4G for a little while then it stops working and sometimes the phone restarts for some reason.

What do. Don't have insurance. Should i take it to a repair shop or something
>>
>>62048837
As someone who never had a samshit and is looking to get the Note 8, what does the pen get used for most? I honestly can't imagine it being that handy but I want to dive in and see what it can do.
>>
>>62048905

If its the antenna, just order a new one from china and put it in yourself.
>>
>>62048930
Great for custom sized screenshots.

Also fan-fucking-tastic way to play Starwars KOTOR on the phone, being able to pinpoint select bodies to pick up loot, or chests/doors to open. It's great.

I also use it occasionally for signing electronic documents.
>>
>>62048905
The repair will likely costs as much as another used S6. Might be still worth it to ask a repair quote

>>62048931

>>
>>62048930
I wrote a lot of notes with it, or some drawings when I was trying to figure out some things conceptionally (eg building stuff). when you press the button you have a list of options to do with it

>>
>>62048623
The Nokia 6 apparently has ui and web browsing lag due to the poor GPU struggling to render the 1080p screen. I can only assume the same is true for gaming.

Also, Nokia is Nokia in name only.

I don't think it is so much a matter of Blackberry not liking money, it's more like the general public did not like the Priv. I see a lot of them in Canada but by and large it did not sell that well worldwide.

As someone who bought the Priv at launch, I can say that there were far, far too many issues. The performance was unacceptable for something that cost iPhone money. While I eventually came to like my Priv after most of the Android bugs were ironed out, the phone's reputation was already tarnished and other manufacturers were beginning to release newer and better things, so the uptick in sales never materialized. The initial release was too much of a gamble. Blackberry should not have jumped head-on into Android with a flagship. They should have just released a Classic running on a Snapdragon 615 (Google was prepared to allow for a screen ratio exception for Blackberry, so they could have done 1:1), used that to figure out the quirks of Android, and THEN released a flagship a few months to a year later. Releasing a flagship running an unfamiliar operating system when your brand is already in the tank was just not the way to go.

I want to buy a new, stylish phone with a gimmick, that also feels nice in the hand. I'm a fag without a personality, so I want to feel good by having a phone that stands out.

I am unironically considering the Meizu Pro 7 (red metal back and back screen), some Sony phone (because their perfromance is godlike and their phones look bretty good, I am 100% jelly of my Dad's Z3 Compact - virtually lagless). Or just ignore gaming and compact size and bite the Keyone bullet, a QWERTY keyboard would make me finally stop bitching at touch-type.

Any other nice phone suggestions? Do the Nokia 8 glossy backs really feel as nice as the tech sites creaming over them are saying?

I got mine at launch too. I think the biggest issues were price and outdated hardware/software. The SD820 would've been a better choice and it launched with lollipop when Marshmallow was already out (and took FOREVER to come to the Priv). Also, $599 would've been a much easier pill to swallow than $720. I'm glad they made a flagship as I wouldn't have bought it otherwise, but they definitely missed a golden opportunity.

If you want a great phone on a budget, get the Axon 7s. Very great looking phone with good specs and a killer speaker setup. If you want the physical keyboard, wait til after the 31st. BlackBerry supposedly has a big announcement, possibly the special edition Keyone launching worldwide

>necessity

Funny, I gave up my Galaxy S3 in 2015 and went back to the Nokia C3 my sister previously used. Since then I have somehow managed to get better grades, get laid and get a job after graduating university. None of which remotely required a smartphone to accomplish (although life event #2 would have been easier with Snapchat).

While a smartphone itself is not a necessity, having a permanent telephone number and an email address are. It's probably just cheaper to hand out shitty smartphones and plans to poor people than it is to give them access to a computer and a landline.

I have one, I like the stock ROM plus it's got a few custom ROMs (most are shit).

Resurrection remix and flyme are pretty good imo but I prefer stock because of camera quality.

$599 would have been a more appropriate price than $699. But however bad you Americans had it, things were even more outrageous in the supposed home market - launch price was $899 Canadabux, unlocked. It made the PS3 look like a great deal in comparison. I paid $399 CAD for mine on a Bell Corporate plan (uncle still worked for Bell at the time so I got an incredible plan), and at that price I could have easily had an iPhone 6s (which would have held its value better and would still be getting OS updates) or a whole bunch of more competitive Android phones. But instead I chose the nationalistic route, and while I ended up liking the phone, it does not mean I don't have a tiny bit of regret. A lot of other people looked at the price - performance trade off and said "fuck that noise" and went with phones that cost the same and offered more.

I heard from insiders at Blackberry that the Priv cost a decent amount to manufacture because of the sliding keyboard and the curved AMOLED screen (which was a bigger deal in 2015 than it was now), but could have still been sold at a more affordable price. The reason it wasn't was due to internal pressure to show a profit on the hardware division and over - optimistic sales projections, so they priced it with a very healthy margin. Problem is, while they (very comfortably) covered variable costs, they could not cover the fixed costs because they just did not get enough volume.

Yeah I feel bad for you Canadabros. Everything costs insanely more even if made domestically. I hope they make a KeyTwo with higher end specs. Even if they do the always there keyboard instead of the slider, i'd love to upgrade if it has a SD660 or 835.

What Google search page? The persistent bar option is in settings somewhere.

Even if the option has been removed, why wouldn't you just use Nova or something? The point of Android is that you aren't locked into to anything that you don't like..
