>>
>>62028702
Guys, I'm looking for a new phone.Need something tough, capable, with good battery and all standard features, but not xbox hueg:
>no more than 5.2"
>tough and waterproof
>custom ROM support (aka Qualcomm)
>large worldwide band support
>good battery
>obviously extra SIM/µSD slot, audio jack, radio FM and NFC
>bonus points for camera button, removable battery, OLED

All I found fitting most of those criteria are:
>Sony Xperias
>Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge/Active
>Caterpillar Cat S60
>Lenovo Moto G5
Could I have missed something?

Also why is it that almost all available smartphones just scale their specs linearly depending on price instead of providing more options? Like if you want a tiny phone, it necessarily has shitty CPU/RAM, and if you want something more powerful, or a splash/waterproof rating, you absolutely have to get a QHD 7" with two 20MP cameras, and there's no alternative. Are manufacturers retarded or do they seriously expect everyone to shell out $600 in flagships and get more than they need?
>>
>>62029605
If you want decent specs on smaller phones you go for iPhones or Xperias, pretty much.

My last phone was an Xperia Z3 Compact, so going from that to ZUK Z2 was already a stretch for me.
I can't find any phone with similar specs to the ZUK Z2 for the size. (Except iphones and that weird Essential PH-1, but they cost way too much).

>>62034455
My point is, LG did the whole "nonstandard aspect ratio, small top and bottom bezel and rounded corners" -design before Samsung.

If you look at pic related V30 follows the same design as the G6, the bezels just are thinner. Yes, it also looks like the S8 but there's only so many ways you can design a near-bezeless phone so it's bound to happen.

Also look on the back the LG V30 is much closer to the G6 than the S8 so it's silly to call the V30 just a S8 ripoff.
>>
>>62034455

LG has been doing thin bezels and rear home button since the G2. Samsung's innovation was the "edgeless" screen, which the V30 does not have..

But nobody will remember that because as you said they dont have enough loyalists.
>>

>>62035104
>Samsung's innovation was the "edgeless" screen, which the V30 does not have..
Call it innovation... It's a horrible gimmick that has more drawbacks than benefits.
>>
>>62035308

I agree. Was just saying what Samsung brought to the table.

I prefer thin edge non-curved screen due to the safety and the ease of getting a tempered glass for it. Looking forward to the Q6 as a disposable, if low powered, G6.

Q6 MSRP is 349€, which is obscene in the current market considering how limited and cheaply made that device is: no fingerprints scanner, no usb C, SD435, cheap ass thin plastic back. The only thing going for it is the small bezels design, but it's not enough to make up for the price. The right price is in the 150€-200€ range; 250€ would be an enormous stretch already, 350€ is just stupid.

So I got an android tablet from Xiaomi recently for watching shows and movies on break at work.

Every time I delete the files after having watched the show, rather than them being completely deleted, they just become "other" files that I can't get rid of.

I tried installing uBlock, but it doesn't stop redirection. I'm also encountering an issue where addons install, but some of them have the "Enable" button greyed out (I assume this is because they're not supported by mobile).

So, is the iphone 7 worth it or should I just get a galaxy S8 and be done with it? Both cost about the same where I live. I do prefer the form factor of the iphone, it fits so well in one hand so I'm kinda inclined to it but I don't know.

Hello lads, my S7 was dropped and has a crack through the screen, on the bottom left, on the top right, and the screen has risen slightly on the top left.

Shortly after these cracks were caused the phone was dropped into a pool, I grabbed it as quickly as possible and left it to dry but afterwards the screen flashed purple/green and the right side of the screen (everything past the crack) stopped responding to touch.

It now turns on and everything other than the right of the screen works.

What are my options?
I don't have another phone or much free cash, please help me.

Dropped my Galaxy S6 in the toilet for like 2-3 seconds about 3 weeks ago. I somehow saved it with hair dryer and rice, and it works almost perfectly. But the antenna or something is fucked, cause I can barely get any signal for SMS/Calling/4G. I can sometimes use 4G for a little while then it stops working and sometimes the phone restarts for some reason.

What do. Don't have insurance. Should i take it to a repair shop or something

Did I do wrong ?
>>
I have the Samsung A7 2017 and it still hasn't fucking received Nougat yet.
>>
If I buy a S7 now, will I be able to upgrade to Android O when it rolls out later this year?

moto x play is sttil the best
>>
>>62041838
Nah, it's a real hardware defect in certain LG phones (LG G4, Nexus 5X and V10 mainly).

>>62042077
It's made by Lenovo, who owns Motorola. The old Motorola doesn't really exist anymore, 95% of their employees has been laid off by Lenovo so any Motorola phone is Motorola in name only.

>>62044350
Probably, HTC 10 and Axon 7 are good too.

>>62045748
>X Play
It's old as shit and the performance isn't going to be good for gaming.

>>62046222
For that price, no
>>
Are there any good Sony phones in the market right now? I remember the z3/z3c was great back in its day

Pick one. Software kills, not the hardware.

Yes. What's your budget?

How do you even use a phone that you buy second-hand like this (w/o contract/sim)?

Sorry, absolute newbie here
>>
>>62046482
Just get a cell phone plan and put the SIM in
>>
>>62046482
>Make sure it supports your carrier
>Wipe all data and go back to factory configuration
>put your SIM in it
vwala
>>
>tfw own Redmi 3 Pro
>£130 all in with accessories
>Camera better than latest IPhone
>People comment on how good photos turn out all the time
>Gold colour makes it look expensive
>Get a dazed "oh right.. nice" look when I explain how I got it and how cheap it was

any similar experiences?

Try again.

One if not the ugliest phone of the year.
>>
>>62046556
Aren't Redmi phones pure botnets though?

So outside of the phone, all you have to do is get a SIM deal?

Could I take the SIM out of my current phone and put it in a new one and it work the same?
>>
>>62046228
It probably never will because it's not part of the S series.
>>
>>62046619
Check the size.
There are 3 different sizes, SIM, micro-SIM and nano-SIM
Most recent phones use nano-SIM

Generally yes, but certain carriers only allow you to use phones bought from them.

Had a hairdresser act like I was rich because I put my caseless redmi note 3 pro on the table infront of her while she cut my hair and when she asked about it I just said "it's a cheap Chinese phone, it's pretty good though, you can get them for about $150" I got a weird "?? Wow" and that was it.

Everyone at work always has their phone at like 20% brightness because shitty battery life and always complement the quality of the screen on mine because I have it at 80% brightness.

The 808/810 chipset is garbage across the board. Moto X Pure did nothing but overheat and require constant charging.

Oppo find 7a
Bought it 3 or 4 years ago when comes out
Cost me 350$
Still running it today
Still run every app and high end games
Plenty of custom rooms, with Android 7, 8 coming (using NamelessRom)
Removable battery (changed it once, costs 12$ on aliexpress with fast charging, good capacity and shit)
Intending to run it for as long as it could go.
It even went through various violent accident (caddie race crashes, water). That shit is solid man. Just a few collision marks on some sides.

Sd card
Removable battery
Headphone jack (do I really have to mention it in 2017?)

Will the iphone 8 be using type-c?

Sony XZs is around that price. Sony is announcing new phones at IFA 2017 next week so something better might come out then

I am searching for a new phone.
