Basically seconding this. They are comparable to the Sennheiser HD600s, but slightly brighter and with more sub-bass, making them perhaps a bit more enjoyable for casual listening, whereas the HD600s are more analytical and precise. Personally however I would recommend the m1060 above either headphone, as they can be easily modified to sound almost identical to the Audeze LCD-2s (1,500 dollar planar magnetics) with a pad swap that has youtube video tutorials showing how to do it as well as the frequency response measurements proving it.

Multibit is a meme if you are paying more than 250 dollars for something other than the modi multibit dac. The problem isn't that multibit is better or worse than delta-sigma, but that it shouldn't cost more since there is no real discernible difference.

A lot, but I was using a Sony MDR-1A. At home, I like X2, HD650, SHP9500, dislike AKG 550, MDR V6.

Looking for some new public transit headphones after some asshole stole my MDR-1A at work. I take the train for 2 hours a day, so I want something closed, something isolated with a bass kick.

I'm thinking ATH MSR7 or ATH ATH-WS1100iS (Found a pair for $130), going to try B&O H6 2nd Gen in store later this week.

I tried pic related.

i think it's just placebo, maybe my tinnitus is slightly better?

I didn't see any earwax chunks come out of my ear though, did it just get dissolved completely by the peroxide? My other concern was that if it didn't work at all because I applied the drops but there was an air bubble in my ear so it never actually cleaned the eardrums.
>>
>>61998822
well no my point was that penny pinching is a huge thing with mass production or anything mass. There will be other things they can save money on, and it'll all add up to big cash.

our workplace switched to shitty cheap pens from god-tier gel pens just so they could save like millions nation-wide.

The upgrade cable will not sound better, I bought it just for the looks. I haven't tried the stock cable to compare because I know it's pointless. Changing the tips changes the sound. Idol trash here. I listen to a variety of music (mainly classical, metal, electronica (mostly demoscene)) besides idol garbage, and I also play games (Not just idol rhythm games, but also CoD, cs:go, l4d2 (with adorable character mods))

Do you need a microphone on it? Closed or open? I know sound signature is hard to figure out but at least post your music genre and 3 of the songs that you listen most to. What is your desktop motherboard audio? Also if you need a mike there are plenty of detachable options like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mvrPQFjaNE&t that you can slap on headphone. Also IMPORTANT if you can go and listen to suggested headphones in local store before buying them since audio is subjective so sound descriptions will vary from person to person.

I can recommend you AKG k712 open back (so they leak sound), they have more or less balanced sound with a bit of emphasis on high frequencies (not too much), have a big soundstage, things will sound distant and separated so it will be nice for games and movies but that won't magically make you better at games just a better overall experience, and they cost around 200 euros, also very comfy since pads are roomy and the fit is overall is very light so they are good for prolonged wear. Drawbacks is that they may not sound loud enough on some things like phones or weak audio cards, what is you audio card?

There are also Philips Fidelio X2 open back and 200 euros but I wouldn't recommend them. They have bass boost to help transitioning from kraken's niggabass (tm) but them bass itself is distorted, muddy, the mids are kill, vocals. Soundstage is bigger than some other headphones but smaller than on k712 and has worse imaging, how precise things sound in space. The only qualities it has over k712 is sturdy build and they will sound loud even from your phone.

There are also HD600 and DT800 that get frequently mentioned there but HD600 have no soundstage, altho imaging is good, and weak bass so while they are good for music they are not great for gaming also they do need an amp to sound good. DT880 are nice but have peaky treble and after kraken it will be an ear raping for you.

There are two possibilities here:
- Anon just happened to look up the measurements for HD650 and HE-400 and post them in reply to an HD600 measurement when neither the HD650 or HE-400 were even being discussed (it is ludicrous to imagine this actually happened);
- DiPolar just posted the same image from local storage that he always posts and forgot to put the trip on (the logical explanation)

Yeah. And don't forget the same blanket recommendations over and over. It's all SHP9500 or HD600. I only come here in hopes of 2 or 3 posts of good info/testimonials. At least last year, people were still shit talking AKG no bass and other headphones

I'm sorry you have to deal with this, anon. These threads have been getting increasingly worse with anti-sennheiser shitposting and now the sennheiser owners are counter shitposting as well.

How do you like the ZS5s? Relative to your 600s.

I just recently ordered a pair of monolith m1060 rev 2 headphones and some parts to modify them with. I'll post updates once I start disassembly and the finished mods with measurements if you're interested. Hoping to replicate some of the measurements I've seen that turn them into a cheaper pair of Audeze LCD-2s.

I have only tried chink tier iems because I don't care enough to spend real money on them. Honestly though, they're the best iems I have ever tried, but that probably doesn't say much. Funnily enough the sound signature is similar to the 600 and they sound amazing for the money, but obviously when you put the 600's on straight after it sounds like a different level overall. If you can spare the money it's worth trying them out for the sake of it. Before the zs5's the best iems for me were the p3's and they're good, but not on the same level as the zs5's.

Wow, i was expecting a slow thread, definitely not this.

After reading a bit and weighting my options a $300 headphone is def too expensive for me, reconsidered to 150 top.
I agree the gamer stuff is bad, that's why i'm here.

I'm definitely gonna go toward a modmic + decent headphones.
Good imaging is definitely a plus.
Now I'm sad I can't get the SHP9500 from amazon, doesn't ship to EU, isn't on the local.
Is the ATH-M50x something to consider ?

I will have to try on the one you recommended, usually i'm not a huge fan of the part that stick to the top of the head (no idea how to call it sorry). Though I admit that the AKG k712 looks comfy af. It being quiet is not a problem.
No need for help to transition from the Kragen. The sooner this squid is out the better. I am surprised I don't have hear damage at this point (the software is so bad too)

No. They're niggerbassy headphones. They were good value at one point ages ago. Then AudioTechnica brought the price up and capitalized on it. Amusingly, the cheaper m40x is actually better.

Repostan hoping for suggestions

I'm no audiophile, but I got the new Piston Hybrid's. I don't know if this is the right term, but they sound a bit "empty". Something seems off about them, and they're also stupidly loud compared to my other earphones.
What's going on here? I've got a broken pair of original Hybrid's, only one side works though so any comparison I make is based off one ear. I'm not sure they seem as good though really. I liked my old Piston Hybrids

What should I get in their place? KZ's I'm not high on, just looking for suggestions, preferably with a bit of bass
>>
>>62001825
AD900X + V-Moda BoomPro are solid solutions
>>
>>62002328
>preferably with a bit of bass

or if you want to save money, get the chinkshit clone of the SE215 (forgot the name Ten something, /csg/ will probably know)

Everyone who has one that I've asked about this exact graph says they don't notice it. I think this may have been resolved or was some other issue.
I really want the m1060 but never bought them because of that exact image but now i'm being told it's either not noticeable or no longer there.

If you are planning on buying the BoomPro with the 579, then you're going to need an adapter for them to fit

AD900x have literally zero bass. Even a far cheaper SHP9500S would be better; while it also suffers from nobass, it doesn't quite as much as the AD900x.

>>62002433
There were a quite a few defective units that went out in the first couple of waves and it was pretty much a lottery gamble which defect you were going to inherit. Some people had cracking in the wood, some people had 5k peaks, some people had frayed or detached headbands, and pretty much everyone hated the snap-in connectors that would bend easily or had loose connections.

However, they addressed basically all of that with the Rev.2 update. The only thing that you still might get is the wood cracking, but that's just the nature of wood and happens even with the Audeze LCD series. To monoprice's credit, they did at least go ahead and seal the wood interior inside the drivers to make them less likely to crack, whereas before (in the first wave) that had been left unfinished.
>>
>>62001825
HD579 is the best headphone in your price range and it's not even close. You'll have an amazing sounding headset with that and a modmic.
>>
thank god I own HD650 so I'm out of this tripfag shitpost war

>>62002510
You get more bass the higher you go through the ATH-AD line. The AD900X has more or less around the same bass as the HD 598. Stop spewing memes from headphones you haven't listened to
>>
>>62002482
So these are my first good headphones. I bought from amazon specifically for their return policy. What should I be listening for/looking for in them when they arrive aside from my opinion on the sound to decide if I should keep them or not?
I expect to love the way the headphones sound but what about the dac/amp? Anything in particular I should try out/look for when considering if I should keep it or not?

What's your opinion on the HIFIMAN HE-400I?
Better than the 600s for casual listening?
>>
>>62002458
well, if you end up having to buy another chinkshit IEM because the cable or something breaks again, you might as well spend a bit more or at least wait on a sale on something more durable (SE215 went for $88 on Amazon.com for a bit according to camel history, not sure about £).

Shure makes practically indestructible kevlar cables with over-engineered stress relief. The cable is going to last at least twice longer than the competition (at the expense of some comfort).
