Do MicroSD cards do wear leveling?

I got a Toshiba card with unreadable blocks -tested with badblocks- but they are always at same sectors. So my guess is at least my card doesn't do wear leveling. Is my guess correct?

Will anyone please throw a working time difference calculator my way? I use it to cut precisely in ffmpeg by inputting frames to tell how long to cut, but my go-to stopped working (broken webpage or smth):

http://www.grun1.com/utils/timediff.cfm

and all others seem to not work or seem to have dropdown for month and day and shit, I just want to subtract stopwatch times essentially. I didn't even look at pic related before screenshotting but I guess it's not even a time calc

So every Windows computer I've had does that thing where when you start a game, it launches in fullscreen, and automatically changes the desktop resolution to the resolution of the game. Now I've got a laptop hooked to the tv in my loungeroom and, instead of automatically adjusting the resolution, it just gives up and drops back to the desktop, minimising the game. If I can't change the game's resolution in a conf file, it's totally unplayable.
Is there any way to turn on this auto resolution change? It's got an Intel HD 3000, and some Graphics and Media Control Panel thing.
>>
>>61946037

Cut the file with mpv + this

https://github.com/occivink/mpv-scripts
>>
>>61946218
I can try. Thanks for the rec.

My only complaint with using MPC-HC for cutting is going back a frame has a delay (at least on an HDD, don't know about SSD). I hope this removes that cause otherwise I won't see a difference in practice I think...
>>
>>61946227
You can't go back a frame while playing a video with a lossy codec. There is no data about a single frame in video files. The player has to read and process a time frame to render a bit of the video. And the most players? discard the frames that have been played so they have to render them again if you wanna go back.
>>
>>61946275
Oh, thanks for the info. And yeah, I cut random porn webms or .mp4 files, nothing that would be lossless, not that I know what lossless means for video besides maybe .mkv being the best for at least a file that moves hands a lot.

I actually noticed that hard once when I tried to cut a .gif with MPC-HC, and every frame seemed to have a different timestamp. It didn't work at all, so I had to download the original video. Might not be the same scenario, but that was the first time I'd questioned frames you extract vs. what the actual frame would be if held to a standard across the board.

Can someone recommend a good (relatively cheap) soundcard for recording?
Mainly for archivising vinyl and tapes.
>>
>>61946455
If you are that autistic you can't record with onboard system, here let me level you up:

Go buy many soundcards and record the track with them and average them. This way you can get rid of the imperfections caused by the soundcards.

I want to learn some basic coding for my master on game design I'm starting next month. I come from an english studies background, I don't want to get screwed.

After finishing a tutorial on basic C, I decided to give fizzbuzz a go.

#include <stdio.h>

int main()
{
int counter=0;
while (counter++ < 100)
{
if (counter%3==0)
if (counter%5==0)
printf("FizzBuzz\n");
else
printf("Fizz\n");
else if(counter%5==0)
printf("Buzz\n");

printf("%d\n",counter);

As a non-coder before the tutorial, is there anything I should be aware of (stylistic or otherwise)?

Is this laptop worth it?

http://www.eluktronics.com/P650HP6-G-2S1H16R

I wanna spend about $1500 on a nice one, I wanted a 17 incher but can't find a decent one that's 120hz, seems like I could get a really kickass one if I just settle for the 15 inch. For the same price it seems like I could get 120hz and better specs if I just settle for the 15 inch.

I spent 800 on a laptop early last year and wish I had just bit the bullet and spent more on a really badass one. I just want to play just about any game now and a couple years into the future without needing upgrades or anything and run on high settings.

I can't have a desktop due to my nomadic lifestyle.

Pls help, I have a lot of money saved up, I never spend any of it and just want to treat myself to something nice.

i found it on this site: https://blog.httpwatch.com/2012/04/25/httpwatch-8-2-firefox-12-support-and-clipboard-enhancements/

what i dont know/understand is does firefox have its own clipboard? as in something that you can actually interact with?

if not, what's the best version of this that exists?

thanks
>>

There's a bunch of stuff you have to do to make that happen. Not any old cable will do; you need to get or make a crossover cable. You then need to setup the network between those two computers in your OS. They won't magically appear as external drives to each other or something.

Is relational database normalisation always a good practice?

Assume there are 2 tables, Employee and Department (many to one relationship).

To make the association between the two entities I could add the department_id field in the Employee column, without having to create a separate table.
Why shouldn't I do that?

By the way, I'm not saying this way is better, I'm only asking for arguments why it is not.
>>
>>61948636
what kind of db normalization are you talking about?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database_normalization

imo you should totally do what you write, extra tables only required in many to many relationships

as far as I recall, for one normaliztion wants to eliminate data redundancy, but in practice there are very valid consideration to have redundant data. From my very vague experience most people would produce a schema close to 2/3NF by themselves

In SQL how do I select columns from one table if a value in another is 1 or select the columns from a different table if the value is 0?

I have joins bringing in the tables depending on the 1 or 0 value but the columns in the select part need an exact table name or it errors because its "ambiguous" and if I give it one of the exact table aliases then it won't get the correct value if the other table is joined instead.

This probably makes no sense, I cant even google the question properly to find an answer.

You can either keep the enclosure and rip all that stuff off the back, leaving the bare speaker wires for the sub; or, if you want to do it the right way to not have garbage quality , you can rip the sub out of the enclosure and pop it in a new one, hooking up to a new amp.

Why did Windows XP hide the Administrator/Owner account and require you to create at least one user to be a member of the Administrators group?

My best guesses:
>You can't mess up the Administrator profile if you don't use it. This ensures that you have access to at least one administrator with an unfucked profile in safe mode.

Did that video come in a zip/rar/archive? And did you just click on the mkv. Instead of extracting all the files first, and then playing it?

Because if you don't extract everything from an archive the files can not see each other.

The srt file with the subtitles is probably still zipped/rared where MPC can't get to it.

What are NS records for? Why would you look up nameservers on a nameserver?
If you see the NS records you can also already see all the other records you need.

when a card says "RECHARGEABLE" or "You can reuse this card! Bring this card to any 7-ELEVEN checkout for quick and easy airtime recharge. Airtime will automatically be added to your account."?
what do you understand from these words?
from what I understand I can use it once and then add money to it and use it again and again and again.
how do I complain about this company to a lot of people?
>>
>>61955295
>what do you understand from these words
What do YOU understand from these words? Because clearly you dont understand the intent of the card.

I have about $90-$100 to spend on a home router.
What are some good ones for the price/brands to avoid?
It's gonna have a couple of computers and quite a few wireless devices connected to it, so I need something that won't shit the bed when there's a lot of wireless devices connected.
And where I'm at in the states, average connection is about 60-100Mb/s down, so the bleeding edge fastest thing wouldn't be used to its full potential, I'd be more interested in robustness.
>>
>>61955359
What exactly is there that you dont understand?
>>
>>61955380
I used it once to add money to my phone account last month.
because it says "rechargeable", "You can reuse this card!" I went to 7 eleven to add money to the same card to pay my phone bill for this month. the cashier swipe the card and it approved the transaction at the register.
So I try to recharge my phone and I get a message that the card has no balance and has been used once. So I call customer support and they say the card can only be use once. even though on the card it says I can reuse it and that it's rechargeable.
I lost $22.
>>
>>61955441
The cashier is incompetent and scammed you, go back and talk to the manager.
>>
>>61955461
I did go back and spoke to the manager and the cashier. to the 7 eleven. they even called the ultramobile support
>>
>>61955487
Then they would fix the issue, and put money on the card.
Holy shit how are you this incompetent?
>>
>>61955508
I know I'm dumb but not that dumb.
I even bought a new ultramobile prepaid card and that one worked fine. from the same cashier

How long do these things last? These are my file and program drives. Should I finally replace them?
>>
>>61955624
What about installing openvpn using some public proxy server?
>>
>>61955648
>How long do these things last
10+ years depending on how it was built.
Replace them when they no longer meet the needs or they die

Any way to get the pictures of a locked Samsung a5? It doesn't have USB debugging enabled and the pervious owner is dead, so I don't have any information about the Samsung or Google accounts. Parents of the previous owner want the pictures more than the phone so I don't want to factory reset it.

I'm having difficulty getting captcha to work on my desktop. It'll load maybe once every dozen or so tries on 4chan, won't load at all elsewhere. Just gives the message "Cannot contact reCAPTCHA. Check your connection and try again." My phone connected to my router's wifi works perfectly.
I've tried two different browsers, turning off the firewall, and flushing the DNS cache. The host file looks fine.
I'm not a clever man, someone please save me.

Just before posting I checked on IE, and it works there for some reason? Firefox and Chrome still can't connect.
>>

That's what I'm asking. I have no experience with enterprise products other than getting those drives cheap/free six years ago.
>>
>>61955710
You wont be able to know.
It could have smart errors out of the blue after 2 years or after 15, there is no way you can tell.

are speakers in consumer laptops pretty universal?

my dad has a lenovo ideapad with blown speakers and i have 2 broken old macbooks that i could steal them from if they could just pop in
>>
>>61955730
No. Don't reccommend ddwrt routers, you can't install dnscrypt on them except on expensive models like wrt3200 or 1900, or the r7800, r8000 etc. Reccommend anything that supports LEDE/OpenWRT. DNS security is just too important to ignore nowadays.
>>
>>61955930
What if they use like a pi zero for a local dns server? tape it on the side
>>
>>61955958
You can still get MITM'd if the modem has malicious, dynamic dns servers setup.
DNScrypt avoids that, running a local dns server doesn't.
>>
>>61956007
the pi can use dnscrypt
>>
>>61955930
I am using a cheap tplink -20$- with dnscrypt and transparent http proxy. It does 50Mbits at max tho.

Is veracrypt really as secure as is said.
I had multi encrypted files. Would this be deemed safe

Get a tp link 4300 if you don't care that much about wifi quality (range is not the best imo). Speed is fine on that router and it's cheap.

There's no real way to predict when it'll die, looking at SMART information regularly can sometimes predict it'll happen soon, but not always.

If you care about your data don't trust any drive, make sure you have proper backups, and if downtime is important, consider redundancy too.
