Trying to install a Plug&Play keyboard (Link related: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016M91SS0/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) into my PC (Windows 10 64bit) because my keyboard died and I had to borrow a friends spare.

I cannot get this shit to work.
>Plug Keyboard in
>Lights up all nice
>Nothing Happens, Device Manager doesn't register it, can't type with it
>Tried uninstalling all Drivers/Programs associated with old keyboard
>No specific drivers for this keyboard exist anywhere

I am fucking desperate. It works on my friends machine (Also Win10) but mine isn't reading it. What could be causing this?

Anyone here use an SSHD or RAID 1 and ever had an issue where copying/moving large files (100MB+) frequently has a 1-2% chance of complete read/write failure and requires a hard reset? They are in a RAID 1 so I don't know whether to blame that or the discs. After restarting they start transferring data for about 30-40 minutes. Windows reports almost zero disc I/O activity during the process so it's happening below the OS level. It's like one of the discs has become corrupted and it's mirroring the entire disc back over again which is making me believe it's a RAID controller issue.
>>
hey /g/, I'm fixing a laptop, just did the factory reset from the on-board recovery drive, and I ran into a problem.

The recovery was on windows 8, and she had upgraded to windows 10, and now windows doesn't recognize the old windows 8 key for verification.

Is there a program that lets you scale windows that have a fixed size (E.G things you cannot full screen or stretch in windowed mode?)

I tried a magnifying glass but it was dropping frames in game and super convoluted. Something that would be good for 60 fps games or something. Windows Borderless Gaming only works with windows that can be resized, not fixed borders.
>>
>>61826046
You don't need a key. Just skip it and complete the installation.

I've got a fuck ton of old 8mm video cassettes laying around that I need to convert to digital while retaining as much quality as possible. if you have a dvd recorder, you could use that, writing to dvd-rw's
otherwise it shouldn't matter much, just get something with a built in mpeg encoder (i'd imagine they would all have one these days, even the cheap stuff)
the hardest part isn't capturing, but processing
cropping, trimming, cutting, adding chapters...
you'll probably want to check out QTGMC, the highest quality deinterlacer out there
and if you want to really squeeze as much out of your tapes, you can also consider capturing multiple times, and averaging them together, minimizing noise

I'm Wayland compositor issue.

I have the Weston desktop running perfectly but I've wanted to try out Gnome3.

Instead of using GDM I just use gnome-session and it asks for a "display environment variable".

mpv png screenshots are like 8-10MB
optipng doesn't help much
but reexporting them with gimp (changing nothing, and as far as i can tell, still lossless) gets them down to a more normal/sane 1.5MB range
1) why is mpv spitting out such large images?
2) is whatever gimp is doing not actually lossless?
3) can mpv be fixed to do whatever it is gimp is doing?

It is lossless, just more compressed. MPV probably doesn't want to spend too much time compressing the image and thus end up dumping a large image quickly.

integrated graphics is dodgy at best and it's only fairly recent since intel decided they could do it after all so user experience is minimal at best, that said almost no laptop that has vt-d support can pass through dedicated graphics so you might be entirely out of luck trying to pass through the igpu never mind all the potential issues that might pop up (like possibly no internal display, etc)

but you won't know until you try it

they don't, maybe your games don't run at 60fps or your monitor isn't set to at least 60hz.

There is a way by telling your stupid fucking mum to grow the fuck up and accept the fate that has struck upon her. Tell her that the Windows 7 system is an AI by itself which will change if you use it. Sure if you would just let it run without ever touching or changing anything it could last for a long time. But things change, the circuits change and inject filthy errors which then clog up some code and make some voltage values go nuts and do unintended shit to the software.
Maybe the PC is starting it's first signs of death and corruption for you?

You don't.

Use ffmpeg instead.
ffmpeg -i file.flv audio.flac

look at https://superuser.com/a/1145254 for more options.

mind you, it will not magically improve quality or make it lossless, it will just save the audiostream as flac.

I just want a cheap $50 or under scanner to scan my shitty (often black and white) arts. I don't really have use for one otherwise so it feels a waste to buy a new one or one more expensive since I'm a hobbyist and not a pro.

Been looking at the Canon LIDE series, but the 110 is basically the same price as 220 and I'm still cheap af about it. I found a 110 without a cord, but I'm such a fgt when I went looking for what kind of cord to get I got overwhelmed.

Basically any alternative suggestions for a low-cost, average scanner or help with something dumb like "get the fucking USB 2.0" would be great because I'm not sure if it's male/female or micro or what and it's pretty embarassing that I'm overwhelmed and stressed over just buying a scanner now.

We had similar over a decade ago, however it was accessible by most other ISPs in the country too(but not from outside). It lead to all the ISPs going into an arms race to build infrastructure so people could pirate shit as tehre weren't really any proper laws to regulate that yet. Average speeds went from 80KB/s to like 3MB/s in some 3 years in the bigger cities.

It doesn't answer your question nor is it that relevant(since only your ISP can access it) so I don't really know why I posted

Supply and demand, Mines are buying a fuckton of GPUs, GPU manufactures cant keep up production, so prices go up

>>61834361
gpus sold to miners in batches without reaching to the customers. so there is demand but no supply.
those gpus also die after a few months because of heavy work and the factories who thought they wouldn't die in two years have to fix or replace them. look for refurbished / used ones.

Pretty much all internet traffic coming from outside was monopolized by the shitty national telecom which was a leftover from the communist regime so it was slow and expensive and they only had shit like dial-up and bad ADSL. So local ISPs decided to build their own network and have storage servers where a few users would download movies and music at shit speeds and upload them locally and then the others would jsut download it from these servers instead of from outside. For that reason for a long time ISPs had two sets of speeds - international(which was like 56K or some shit) and internal which was usually dozens of times faster.

Not sure why they decided everyone should have access to this data though. There were some points when the servers held by some ISP would be inaccessible by some of the others but I guess they decided it's better for everyone if everything is accessible and all they had to worry about is offering faster speeds.

It's all gone now though - large telecoms and a handful of ISPs bought out all the small ISPs and their networks and piracy laws are pretty much current with most of EU.

That's Bulgaria btw.

The job doesn't start until about a month, so I don't actually know if we get company laptops. But if we don't I'll need a new one because the only laptop I have currently is a piece of shit. I just don't know what I'm looking for when it comes to notebook shopping

My Seagate Barracuda 4TB turned unreadable while I was watching a movie from it. Windows Disk Management couldn't recognize it either and wanted to format it. After restart it started working again. It's maybe 6 months old.

Is this a sign of impending doom? Should I scrap it and get a new one asap?

looks like it uses the standard firefox data/cache directories (this is not necessary a good thing thou).

If you uninstall firefox and let it keep user data, waterfox will be able to continue using it.

Im a Linux newfag, I installed Ubuntu and then installed the aircrack-ng suite through apt-get, however the version on the default repositories is 1.1 and I need the most recent versions. More recent versions don't seem to be available on the repos (if they do please tell which to add) so I'd have to either compile from source or install it from .deb

Question is, do I need to remove the current version first before upgrading if I use either the source or the .deb? Does either of those have any advantages over the other? Is compiling from source adviseable for a newbie like me?

>Is this a sign of impending doom?
Could be. First thing you should do is make sure that all cables are attached properly.
>Should I scrap it and get a new one asap?
Nah, just keep using it. If it fails on you then just buy a new one and restore your data from a backup. Downtime wont cost you any money so you don't need to worry about it.

Somehow I actually need to burn a DVD in 2017.

Which program is the best for it, considering I need to add a subtitle track as well.

nvm found the other modprobe directory blacklist works like a charm

Compile it, no need to remove the old version but its recommended(remove, do not purge).

You will probably need to install make and gcc, also read the README file on the source code first.

Run CrystalDiskinfo to read the SMART data from the drive, it should say if it's failing. 6months is really young for a drive to be failing
>>
>>61836700
Just apt-get remove the old package and dpkg -i package.deb for the new version. Compiling from source might give you newer features but the Deb package is going to be the most stable (in most cases)

I did. I'm currently running Seatools tests on it. Crystal disk didn't say anything meaningful when my 2TB WD green got its drive head stuck and this time wasn't any different.

I set up my own email, is all working good, but after sending an email to a specific guy, I got this non-delivery notification:

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 451 4.7.1 <DATA>: Data command rejected:
REDACTED.co.uk is too new, temporarily blacklisted

Anyone know how long this will last, until it's not too new anymore?

WNR1000v2-product.jpg

I recently switched from a rented Xfinity modem+router combo to a separate Netgear router and modem. The modem is new, DOCSIS 3.0 etc. but the router is from 2010ish (it's only temporary until I get a better one but still). I previously had it set up where both Wake on LAN and Wake on WAN worked seamlessly, so that I could both conserve power on my PC and wake it up remotely should I need to access any files, use it as a media server (again, without having to leave it on all the time since these aren't exactly server grade parts.)
Now, however, Wake on WAN no longer works. Wake on LAN works fine, but I can't seem to wake it up via WAN with the same app I've always used ("Wake" on iOS.) I tried to port forward to open port 7, UDP and all that, but it still doesn't work. The router is a WNR1000v2. Is there anything I can do to remedy this, or do I need a new router? And should I need a new router, any recommendations? Thanks.

tl;dr: wake on WAN worked, got a new router, wake on WAN no work no more. how to fix?

If you already have one of the cards and can get the other for cheap than it can be. its not worth it to just buy 2 older cards instead of a better single GPU, alot of games dont support SLI/Crossfire and its pretty buggy for some other games

I don't know if this is a /g/ question or an /o/ question, but I am guessing that /g/ knows more about speakers than /o/.

What could cause the mid drivers on four coaxial car speakers to simultaneously quit, while the tweeters continue to work?

My speakers are about ten years old. Recently, the car sat for a while and when I started driving it again the speakers sounded like ass and the audio cut in and out. I tried swapping the head unit for a different one, but there was no difference. I found that if they cut out I could make them cut back in by pounding on the rear deck, and that after unplugging one of the rear speakers the rest no longer cut in and out. They still sound like ass, though, and I've determined that's because the mid drivers are not working at all.

If hadn't happened to all four of them simultaneously while the car sat, I would assume that they were blown or something. Given the circumstances, though, I am very confused.

Are you using a VGA cable or a digital one? If the monitor is receiving an analog signal, a loose connection can cause edges to look weird. It's not clear what edges you're talking about or what you mean by jagged, so clarify your question if I haven't answered it..
>>
What I mean is the lines are jagged it looks like there is no AA im using a VGA cable right now but getting a mini hdmi to hdmi cable tomorrow since my graphic card supports mini hdmi would using that solve this problem?
>>
>>61838560
A Digital Signal would probably solve that, so yeah HDMI will help

Does anyone know of a good gaming chair that has a lot of ergonomic support? Price doesn't matter as much as comfort. The chair I have right now is killing me but I don't want to invest in yet another shitty chair. Preferably one with support pillows included.
