The drawing tablet I ordered on gearbest has arrived, some pictures and what I think of it incoming.

From the old thread. My sis in law is moving overseas and left us some things that she doesn't want to take with her.

One is her iPod classic (120 GB so I think it's 6th gen). Is it worth using it instead of a rockboxed Sansa Clip+?

I probably should change the battery and throw in a new SSD (dont like some noises from the hhd and she used it a lot while running) and housing as it's really scuffed.

Alright this is just gonna be me rambling about the display/digitizer UGEE UG-2150 that I purchased here for 385,38€: https://www.gearbest.com/graphics-tablets/pp_364944.html
I'm not gonna go all technical in this, since there's already a ton of reviews online that do exactly that. I'm a shitty writer so brace yourselves.

It arrived yesterday, after ten days. All the relevant images are above.
It was packed nicely and shipped via "local (in my case French) express shipping", the cheapest solution. On the invoice inside they put a value of 20€, and I got no troubles with customs, the package doesn't seem to have been opened. The box itself is not labeled or marked, it's a plain cardboard box.

The UGEE UG-2150 has a power input, DVI-I input, HDMI, and VGA, it comes with two rechargable pens, a pen holder with about 8 fresh nibs, two pen charging cords, the driver's installation CD, an HDMI cable and a VGA cable.
The tablet is really nice, large and sleek. I've been working with a Wacom cintiq 22HD on campus for a while, and I'm seriously starting to doubt it's superiority. The display itself is exactly the same size, but the bezels on the cintiq are monstrous compared to the UGEE's bezels. The tablets feel very different, the Wacom has a matte finish on the display, probably to reproduce the pen on paper feel, and it has several shortcut buttons along the edge.

The surface makes for a nice drawing experience and even though I've rarely found the buttons very practical due to my position, they are always quickly accessible. The UGEE on the other hand has a glossy screen finish and no buttons. This makes for a really attractive design, and the tablet can be easily used as a simple second display when not in use with the stylus. I don't miss the "rough" layer of the Wacom for the drawing part though, but the reflections can get pretty annoying if the screen is placed next to a light source. It seems to be glass so it won't get scratched easily, and my hand slides effortlessly on the surface of the Ugee, it doesn't feel like I should use a screen protector. As for the keyboard shortcuts, I'm actually using JoyToKey and a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con paired via a chinese Bluetooth dongle to my PC, it's ergonomically perfect and I think I'm still gonna use it if I go back to work with a Wacom. The stand is sturdy with way over 20 levels of inclination from almost horizontal to almost vertical (approx. 85°), and it had a small handle on the top to tilt it up and down. It cannot rotate from side to side as the Wacom does. I honestly think that this can be the main monitor of someone who'd also use it to draw.

Viewing angles are great -to my untrained eye- especially on the vertical axis, and the colors are okay too (for a hobbyist! I don't really get why colors are oh so important to pros that they're buying $300 calibrators but that's just me), vibrant but not overly saturated. Calibrating the gamma, contrast etc was simple and quick. Color temperature out of the box seems normal, it's adjustable in the built-in menu. The screen was lightly greenish at first, but I could adjust that with the build-in menu too.

The plastic on the whole thing smelled awful at first, but it seems to have dissipated pretty quickly. The pens are rechargable, so no wireless coil power Wacom technology, but they seem to last more than two days at least, I didn't have to recharge the first pen after it's initial charge. And I can always put one aside for charging while I use the other one. While it technically works in a different way than the patented Wacom pen, it behaves in the same way, and in use they're pretty much identical, without the tilt sensitivity on the UGEE however. There's no lag or jitter, and it just werks.

I often see heavenly reviews online, gushing over the tablet and it's amazing $600 price tag, but this thing is almost always on flash sale for $399, putting it very close to the smaller HK1560.

I honestly think pro artist's can get everything they need from this tablet. To get the best experience out of it, I would recommend getting a remote or using any other method of having quick access to keyboard shortcuts. I would call this UGEE UG-2150 a serious Wacom competitor, but at this price there's no competition possible.

Pros:
- Incredibly low price
- Large screen
- very responsive pen
- functionality wise almost identical to a cintiq
- wide variety of ports
- sleek, can be used as a normal monitor without a problem (even more so with a monitor arm)

Cons:
- Slight parallax (LCD to glass distance)
- no built-in key shortcuts
- no tilt sentisivity

Just got one of these for use with an old CRT. It only seems to support up to 1024x768 though, since I know that the CRT I'm using supports 1600x1200, but my OS only gives me the option of up to 1024x768. I tried setting it manually in the config files, and that just resulted in my main monitor getting mirrored, but cropped. Anyone who knows of a DisplayPort to VGA adapter that supports 1600x1200?

Ordered some Ultrafire 5mW laser pointers and a Nitecore P10GT on gearbest. the only way I know how to "cheat" them is signing up for aliexpress affiliates, making a ref link for what you want then going through it and buying the item you want. Looking for a SSD to replace my MX100 240GB which has the random BSOD and disappear from BIOS bug even on the latest firmware, drive health is 85% with 22267gb writes.

Getting fed up and thinking of replace it.

Options are.

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB for $115
KingDian S280 240 for $85
Netac N530S 240GB for $76
Kingston V400 240GB for $90
PNY Phantom-1 240GB for $95

Out of the above list the Kingston V400 is the only model that can be found locally.
PNY doesn't sell the Phantom in my country so no warranty on that.
Samsung doesn't sell SSDs at all in my country so no warranty on that, but the 850 EVO gets good reviews and is on almost every SSD ranking/chart/review, but it's by far the most expensive and I wonder if it is worth it.

KingDian and Netac are chinese SSDs that have me second guessing myself.

I just want to have a SSD that will be more durable than the MX-100 I currently got, I'm satisfied with the speeds, just the random BSOD from dropping out fucking annoys me.

Gonna be subjective. I just bought a 960 evo and it's brilliant, would recommend if you can stretch the budget that little bit further. Boot times are crazy fast, and everything is so snappy, even compared to my last shitty adata sp600 SSD. It seems much faster benchmark wise than anything else in the price range.
