With the sudden closure of What.CD in mind, the "big 3" are now considered BTN, PTP and the third is yet to be decided.

Unless I've missed a blog post or discussions on here, does anyone know what measures have been put in place for these trackers (and other trackers) in shutdowns.

For example, the major loss from What.CD was the metadata - all of the information about the torrents and the incredible efforts made to correctly tag everything.

What would happen if BTN or PTP shut down tomorrow? Would someone have a backup of the metadata?

So they say you can reactivate your account by going to the #support channel on their IRC but I have been queued on it for almost 3 days straight and I am yet to see anyone being able to talk to AB staff. So is this channel just dead? Am I wasting my time queueing there?

If you're not getting through at the same time each day, maybe try again within 4 or 5 hours.
