the whole point of hydrus is that you DON'T manually tag things.
It pulls the tags from boorus and sites when you download them, and now its added a right click menu to just look for tags online for images you already have.

I can subscribe to a /d/ thread, it will download every image in the thread and then I can right click and pull the tags from the internet.

It has been developed for years because most of it is bloat.
The code is so bad you can't even understand where each thing is. There were multiple classes interacting with the databases the last time I looked at it.

You could spend no more than a month to make something better that exactly suits your needs. You could make something that work pretty well in a week.
