The shell uses white space to detect tokens, which happens in the "for i in", so move doesn't have a chance as is. Write a small script to read in a line of text then execute the mov command with the text in double quotes. Then do
find . -name *.rar | my_mov_script.sh

You'll probably have to get a degree unless you find someone looking for just any code monkey. So I guess look to startups?

I was at this shitty IT business that didn't require a degree, just that you do a two month unpaid training course that they provided. Then, before your first three months were up and they'd have to switch you to a higher paying salaried position, they'd fire you. Fun.

I want to set up a new computer because I recently started a new business, I would also like to use this computer for private use but it's very important that there is no virus or problems with my computer.
I would like to use an old computer I have from like 5 years ago, it has pirated windows on it (7 ultimate I think) and would like to put an official version of 10 on it, just standard home edition I think 64 bit too.
Which parts of the computer should I replace for maximum safety and so that I wont run into any problems because of the old pirate windows or possible virusses / scanners that came with it?
I read in the internet virusses or these kind of scanners / files could spread literally anywhere from HDD to GPU to Mobo to even internal memory of a mouse (I have one that saves settings on memory inside the mouse) to even monitor, I'm very confused.
Could someone please help me out? I would like to make no mistakes, it's very important everything works as if it would be new and completely safe, like I said I want to use this computer for doing banking and also for my new business and also for personal use.
Help would be much appreciated.

>>
>>60779164
Given a file named "What is this crap.rar"
your do loop does this:
mv what ./
mv is ./
mv this ./
mv crap.rar ./
That's the way the shell breaks down a sequence with "for i in".
The person who said to put $i in quotes forgot that the split would happen before the do loop ran.
You need to take the one file per line output of the find command and put that line of text in quotes before using it as an argument to mv.
>>
>>60779274
1. Don't use it for personal use if you want to be absolutely sure it won't get gunked up

2. I dunno, use an antivirus / spy-mal ware program? Hardware won't really protect you.

3. You might want to pay for Windows, write it down as a business expense?

I want to remove every virus or keyscanner or weird stuff that possibly got on there trough internet downloads or trough installing pirated windows 7 so that I never will have any problem after I put windows 10 on it.
it is very important this works good because i want to use this computer for my business and also personal use and internet banking etc.
hope this was better.

>>
>>60779372
You might be able to take any parts you want to use and have a guy check them over, but I imagine he'd just bullshit you for some money.

If you find a way to reset everything to factory setting, that might be the best way to ensure everything is clean.

You could always consider just buying a new computer, if you're THAT paranoid. I've never run into a virus living in the bios of something, so I've never had to combat it.
>>
>>60779413
How would you, say, move your OS to it to make it snappier?
>>
>>60779353
Exactly what I said. Run your command with the "mov $i ./" replaced with echo $i to see what's happening to the file names.
Then grab a reference for shell scripting and figure out how to read the lines of text coming from find in a script and do what you want with the entire line. I've no intention of writing it for you.

If something is deep enough, I THINK it could make it through a factory reset, but that would be a great step, especially if you're re-purposing the machine anyway.

>>
>>60780271
if you meme OS supports two GPUs then I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

The only problem that could rise is which monitor is the "first" (main) monitor, with software configuration or swapping the cards could fix that.

>does P now equal the value of 5?
Yes.

Maybe. If m is a type that is multiple words in size, then P + 1 will equal 5 + the size of m in just about any language.

I'm in a painful situation at work.

>MySQL database
>~30 tables
>all have surrogate primary keys because their natural primary keys "were too complicated"

I've been asked to get the data ready for loading, which will be done by my boss running LOAD DATA INFILE on ~30 Excel sheets I'll make that correspond to each table. The painful part is that, unless one of you has some wisdom for me, I'm going to have to go through all 200-1000 rows in each excel sheet and assign the foreign keys by looking up the proper row in the raw data, finding the matching surrogate key, and copying it into a column on the excel sheet.

Google has failed me, and so has the awful DBMS textbook I was handed. If no one has guidance on my specific problem, I'd appreciate reading recommendations on data curation/database loading considerations/whatever.

Please send help.

I'm mobile a lot lately so my newest computer is a laptop. When I'm using it at home or in a hotel room, rather than in a cafe/library/bookstore/work, I have 7 damn cables hooked up to it:

>Power Cable
>Ethernet
>Mechanical Keyboard
>DP to 144Hz secondary monitor
>Mouse
>External Speakers
>Printer

Lately I'm working equally at home and in the field, so every morning I have to unplug all 7 cables, and when I get home and have shit to do, I have to plug them all back in.

How can I streamline this? Is there a cable management system I can attach to my desk or something that'll hold all the cables within reach so they stop falling between the desk and the wall?

Does a laptop dock take of this? How do those even work?

I don't want to just glue some spring clamps to the edge of my desk.

I am looking to change a link with javascript. It always works on fresh reload, but when I navigate in the site, it stops working. I tried using the window.hashchange event, but the event doesnt even trigger when I navigate the website. The website is vivaldi net btw.

My current fix is a function that fires every 500ms and compares the current url with the previous url and if there has been a change, then it fires my function that changes the link.

Is that a better solution? I assume the window.hashchange event doesnt work because of some dynamic ajax shenanigans.

Thanks for any help or tips!

Yes, but I'll be damned if I can remember what generic term to search for to find them.

Yes

Like magic. If one exists for your laptop, go for it.
>I don't want to just glue some spring clamps to the edge of my desk.
The thing I can't rememder the name of was basically a weighted pad with a few velcro straps on it. You'd lay the cables down, velcro them down, and then just disconnect and walk off.

Hey /Sqt/, how viable is it to resoldering on a new 6 pin molex connector to a GPU?

Back story : this GTX 960's fan stopped working and so I sent it off for RMA. I packaged it in bubble wrap in a box not much larger than itself. When it arrived at ASUS, I was informed this was how it was. More pictures to follow.

My major concern is the damage to the corner of the PCB. I wouldn't think there would be any traces there and it doesn't seem like there is. But I feel even if I successfully solder on a new connector, that damage to the PCB. would render it pointless. Thanks for any help.

the big box hardware/home improvement store by me [Lowes] has bins next to customer service for dead battery recycling. they don't care if its for phones or laptops, the battery recycler that it all gets shipped to presumably does all types. plus, I think rechargable power tools also use L-Ion or whatever so its all the same nowadays.
you can also do fluorescent bulbs there and all the other weird stuff that curbside doesn't take. you don't have to buy anything, either.

it probably all just gets put in a shipping container and put in a chinese landfill but that's probably what everyone does ( ._.)

Oh alright, I have Afterburner actually, was using it for the data in-game. I found the fancurve thanks. Do you think that'll work even if Afterburner is closed though? Like when I start my PC etc.

Should I change my wireless network SSID?
A while back I called 'The LAN Before Time' but obviously its not a LAN, it was just the first pun that came to my head

I can't think of anything better to name it that isn't just copying someone else

What do you guys usually name yours?

Everyone else in my apartment always just has the default names so I don't even know if they appreciate the effort

There should be 'start with Windows startup' or sth like that. Without it it won't work after reboot until you turn it on manually.

It does NOT work when afterburner is closed. But when you minimize afterburner it goes down to the system tray so it's not obtrusive.

I think it's usually in manufacturer's software not nVIDIA software (because it's manufacturer who chooses the fan, power limits, etc and nVIDIA has nothing to do with it).
In afterburner it's the small windows logo just over graphs with 'startup' written above.

hiya /g/ I've had my usb's randomly disconnecting and remounting. The problem seems to only happens while using my font ports but haven't tested my back I/O.
The motherboard is an Gigbyte z170-D3H and running Win 8.1.
any ideas?
>>
>>60786689
Unplug and reconnect the front USB connectors from the motherboard.
>>
>>60786682
>implying that doesn't happen already

>>60786689
Likely it's the port, do what the first anon said and get back to us.

Indeed. Ended up using Afterburner, we'll see how it goes.
>>
>>60786689
you should either troubleshoot first or post your troubleshooting results with your post if you want more accurate help

>does it occur in other ports?
how can you say 'seems to only happen while using my front ports' when you havent tested with the others

>does it happen with every device in that port?

>does it happen when you are not touching or near the device/port

>does it happen more frequently if you wiggle the connection?

>is it reproducable or does it occur seemingly randomly?

Hi /g/, My laptop has been having this weird issue lately where the internect connection will sometimes stop working altogether. I have tried resetting the router, and the problem still persists. anyone know a final solution to fixing this problem?
>>
>>60786791
run an ethernet cable
>>
>>60786807
what if I have no ethernet cable plugins in my room, and I don't want to leave my room?
>>
>>60786791
is it dropping at the router or your wifi drops itself?

>>60786817
>what if I have no ethernet cable plugins in my room
what
>>
>>60786791
Do any other devices you have drop connection at the same time? If yes, probably router/access point issues, if no, probably issues with your laptop's WiFi card or its drivers, update if possible, if that doesn't do anything, replace.

Or even better, stop using WiFi if you don't need to.
>>
>>60786822
My wifi drops itself. I live with my family, and every time the wifi drops for me, it doesn't affect them. It's always dropping for me and nobody else.
>>
>>60786845
how far is the router?
cant you run a cable to it?
try changing the router's wifi channel
>>

well who plugs in usbs at the back nowadays is what i mean.
I leave the usb untouched while doing work thru out the day and it randomly out of no where disconnects disturbing my work.
>>
>>60786945
are you talking about an individual flash drive or every device in the port?

Both I guess, both of my font usb ports disconnect the flash drive. I just plugged the flash drive now at the back to see if they also do it.
the flash drive is an Samsung bar usbs. picture related
>>
What's the point of having exceptions triggered for non machine instructions?
Why wouldn't the compiler/some intermediary assembler just replace the pseudo instructions with the machine level instructions?
>>
>>60787025
What I mean is does it happen for other flash drives/devices in the front ports also?

have you tried switching the usb headers in the mobo?
>>
>>60778213
Would it be a better idea to do a free windows 10 upgrade of a windows 7 that's been authenticated using the Daz crack vs using some of the windows 10 cracks I've been seeing around, or using one of the $5 keys from eBay or reddit? Has anyone had their windows 10 deauthenticated yet when they've upgraded a pirated windows 7?

Don't have a ton of cash and my gf's old pc is dying. Deducting the cost of windows would be a great help and get me to consider getting her a RX 470/570 instead of a GTX 1050. I made her endure used crap the last build and want everything to be new.
>>
>>60787071
Don't bother with the cheapo keys on ebay, if you're not going to go properly legit, go properly pirate.

If you've already got 7 installed, go daz loader, should upgrade and activate fine. If you haven't, just install 10 directly and use Microsoft Toolkit or similar to do a KMS activation.
>>
>>60787064
Oh well i just garbed a few different usb laying around to test right now.
The samsung USB just disconnect and reconnect again on the back I/O ports.
I did while testing the font header usb cable move to the second available header on the motherboard with the same result.
