More like overpriced

I'm in EU, cheapest I could get them was $120(and that was importing from US), so I didn't.
>>
>>60117236
You get EMI or hiss from your current source.
You don't get enough loudness.
You want a volume pot.
You feel your headphones are as good as they'll ever get.
You're rolling in cash.

In that order.
>>
>>60117271
Yes, but I would still choose those over any other sub-$100 headphones; even better if you can find them for $60.

There is no "point". Aside from having a problem with either one, DAC is not related to headphones you plug in at all amplifier's purpose is to amplify the signal and do nothing else. There might be features built around these parts you value such as a volume pot, switchable gain, I/O, remote control or who knows what else. Depending on how good or bad the gear you have is at the moment, you might have a good enough reason right now. Or you might not. I got one because I wanted to make sure my amplifier and DA-converter are high quality and they are out of the consideration since then. I was also lacking a tiny bit of volume on some tracks after using an equalizer.

OK, real question time...

So i picked up a pair of Bose quiet comfort 3s back in the day, and they have been GREAT to me. I used to travel a lot and they do wonders on air planes.
But i feel they are on their last leg. I'm looking for something I can run with my Behringer 404 interface that will deliver some nice range I guess?? These Bose seem to clip when heavy bass hits.

I'll be honest my budget is tight, somewhere from the 100-200$ range? But there are sooo many choice! Any brands in particular to look into?

Look into beyerdynamic, sennheiser, audio technica, akg, and grado

If you are only going to watch Anime and occasionally listen to music, then there's little reason for you to buy headphones that expensive.
>>
>>60118293
If you're only keeping the stock parts of the headphones, best thing you can do is dampen them as much as possible while figuring out what type of sound you like from the results, otherwise just buy closed headphones.
>>
>>60118370
Pic related voiced by shimamu's seiyuu hadapure duet with mimorin's seiyuu is pure bliss @ HD600.

HD600 is an all rounder but it excels at female vocals (perfect for idols!) and metal.

Go watch some reviews, there just isn't anything better under 500 pounds (and probably even higher).

Depends on if you are willing to try new form factors, canalphones are great for travelers and offer the noise cancelling of headphones without the need for active circuitry or batteries. They take adjusting and aren't for everybody. You can get a set of Etymotic MC-5 for about $60.
>>
>>60118557
Personally, I would rate them between an AD500X and AD700X. Not sure with your headphones.

>>
>>60118370
Honestly, I think you'd be absolutely nuts to spend that on headphones if you don't listen to music often. The HD600s are superb, definitely worth the money for music lovers, but they're overkill if you're mainly going to be watching television shows and despite what some people here claim they really are quite difficult to drive beyond medium volumes without an amplifier (tested on iPad and iPhone).

>mfw some people think a "transparent" signal chain is best

I get the mentality behind it, I really do, but it's kneecapped by two objective facts: your transducers aren't perfect, and neither is your hearing. If you're old enough to be posting here, chances are you can't hear 20kHz for shit. Pure sine tone maybe, but as a component of white noise or music? I'd be surprised if anybody here could confidently do better than 18kHz, and that's generous. Yet in trying to reproduce frequencies you can't hear, you're potentially introducing cone breakup and other artifacts that measurably (albeit minutely) reduce the quality of even the ones you can hear. So here's what you do: hop on over to AudioCheck and give their blind frequency audibility test a go. Once you've found your upper hearing limit, get up your EQ and roll stuff off starting at that point. If you're an exclusive headphone user, feel free to do the same for ~30Hz downwards, but that's unlikely to have any notable benefits. Not like either is audible to begin with, otherwise you would have been able to notice in the blind test, you dumb fuck. But if you're bored and want a bit of audiophile masturbation, give it a go.

Why don't you just use the velour pads that are included instead of the default pleather pads? It will reduce the nigger bass as well, making the Clouds somewhat tolerable even.
But I really don't get this. I'm a sweaty, oily motherfucker myself, but never, ever have I thought "oh shit, these headphones are bad, they make me sweat a lot!" even during the worst summer blazes.

He did have a fake sennheiser headband and it flattened out pretty quick, but it still felt great so I'd recommend doing that instead of paying £15 for a real one. I only gave it him because I recently changed my 600 pads+headband.

Here's the link for the earpads but this listing isn't available anymore. Surely there has to be other people selling these on aliexpress or gearbest. I actually bought around 4 different pairs and they were all shit apart from this one.

Sorry, I meant I gave my old 600 headband to my brother to stick on his t40rps. The other pads I bought were all cheap and horrible from aliexpress, apart from a pair of h5m's from amazon. The hm5's feel good but they clearly sound worse than the stock pads. The ones I suggested are thin, but not as bad as the stock ones, so your ears are close to the driver. They actually feel and look nice too and only cost around £3.00.

The shure pads aren't available in england, besides a few on ebay for £100+ lmao. Maybe they're good? I'd say find another listing of the ones I recommended, they're really nice and cost fuck all.

I thought maybe you guys could help me, since you boys might know how audio works and /sqt/ mightn't.
I want to PS4 and PC audio through the same headset. I tried with a regular aux male to male between controller and mic on PC and set to "Listen to this device" in settings. It worked but was really low volume and lots of static/white noise when increased.

Is there a way to do this with optical digital between PC and console instead?
>>

I own these, use them at work with a fulla 2, love them.
I really can't find fault with them. I'd complain that they don't sound like my HD600, but that's expected for closed. I love how neutral they are (a bit more bass than needed, but not enough to be annoying) and the overall sound feels like just a worse HD600. Really happy I can listen to music to some reasonable standard while I'm at the office, thanks to the excellent isolation.
The clamp was annoying for a couple days, it got loose very fast.
I've had mine for a year now, and they don't seem to have degraded in any way.

People lament the build quality.
They're mostly plastic, but my pair has held up well for 6 months and they come with a year warranty.

Neutralish sound with a slight boost in the bass, very comfy stock though.
3.5 detachable cable is a bonus.
>>
Posting this since I read on past threads some anons worried about clamp force and comfort after going for the HD600. I got mine a few days ago. The high clamp force was real in my case, and my head is on the smaller size. It was pretty uncomfortable at first. I did what some people recomend in those cases, bend the metallic piece on the headband. Extend it fully grab the metallic piece with both hands, then bend it outwards. Always put pressure in the metal and not the plastic housing. Repeat that process a few times and try until you get something that feels better. After few days of use (note that I was using the headphones from 8 to 12 hours a day) and that trick they feel really comfy.

Compared to my past headphones, the AKG K601 which I used for about 6 years, they have a much more tight fit. About the sound, they didn't blow my head off with the quality, but they do feel right, natural, correct for the lack of better terms to use. I can see why they call them transparent and neutral. I'd say it'd be great for monitoring. The vocals are amazing though, listening to Adele or Andrea Bocelli was truly a blast.

I've been driving them from the cheap Fiio E10 (the HD600 is much easier to drive than the hungry K601), no idea how much they could be bringing the HD600 down in sound quality but so far the volume is certainly there. Perfect for any pop/rock song, and even plenty to spare when going for jazz and classical, something like the Beethoven's 7th 2nd movt., which is a somewhat quiet piece that you might want to crank up the volume, listens perfectly.

That said, what do you guys use to drive your HD600? Is there an alternative to the Fiio that can really make a difference? I've been looking into the magni/modi, o2/odac, but not really sure how much of an improvement they'd make.

I would like to see how one EQ soundstage and speed (both are non-existent in the HD600 btw) from the HD800 into the HD600.
>>
You guys got any good recommendations for closed off headphones
with a mic for vidya?
>>
>>60133863
What is speed?
>>
>>60133110
They either never got a good seal on it or they're only listened to the heaviest of all bassy headphones somehow.
>>
>>60132641
>The e10k is great for what it is but it sounds harsh in comparison.
Haha.

>>60117182
the 3 letters hidden behind her are "bra"

Well, another board I've discovered where spoilers don't work

Hmm...
>>
>>60134252
>I could EQ a $30 headphone to match my HD600/HD800
>Inb4 samefaggot
>>
>>60134304
That statement wasn't wrong.

Feel free to disprove him.
>>
>>60134316
No; please explain.

Budget - Around 200
Location - America
Source - Kindle fire, pc, cheap cd player
Closed (I dont like sharing my weeb music)
I would prefer cozy
Sound signature - Im not too sure here, as I've never really gotten a pair of nice headphones before. I enjoy Rock and J-pop, would warm work the best?
I'm a bit interested in Aiaiai's Tma-2, does anyone have any expierence with them?

Kek. Hello?
>>60134350

Decay.

Thanks Anon
>>
>>60134420
DT770 80 Ohm or Custom Studio (Same Drivers)
>>
>>60134477
What is decay?
>>
>>60134655
The amount of time the transducer needs to come to a standstill (not produce sound) after "playing music". A "slow" headphone with large decay would ring for a noticeable moment after the electrical signal ends.
>>
>>60117182
Thats not how clothes work
>>
>>60134898
So HD600 has audible ringing?
>>
>>60131435
>HD558 is better than HD598.

Then why do people do the foam mod to make the HD558 sound just like the HD598?
>>
>>60135119
He is just memeing. The HD 600 is a go-to headphone for 20 years now because it is an excellent allrounder. "Ringing" is only noticeable in really bad headphones or on the contrary the absence of decay in extremely fast headphones like electrostatics or the HD 800.

>Ringing
[citation needed]
>>
>>60135265
Reading comprehension. I wrote the complete absence(this is a negative) of ringing is noticeable in the HD 800.
>>
>>60131812
hmm, i can think of the perfect headphone...
what's this, an anime pic?
sorry bud, you miss out

They're shit sounding headphones, anon.

Easiest would be to just grab the schiit stack (modi2uber + magni2uber). That's what I did anyway.

Is the K7XX worth paying $75 more and waiting four fucking months over a K612?
>>
>>60136461
There's also the K712 which is basically the same thing as the K7XX
>>
>>60136461
The black ones have standard 2 day shipping the red ones have the 4 month shipping and yes they are
>>
>>60137111
Not anymore, stock is out so they have to order a new batch.

Price and date not yet revealed, I heard December,

Pretty sure you have me to thank for this, as I got sick of waiting and just got my HD650 delivered. Wondering if I shouldn't return.
