i dont know what the hell is going on with my spare comps wireless. i put xubuntu on it, everything works fine, but somethings going on with the wireless. i can ssh into it, i can ping it from another comp, i can ping from it to google and other comps on the lan, but when i open a browser it won't resolve to anything...

the only way to get it working again is to restart the network manager, or restart the whole comp. it's annoying. its a dwa 131 usb.

So while messing around with an old P3 system I started poking around
and googling datasheets for some of the chips on the motherboard because
I wanted to try reading the System firmware image off of it (don't ask why)

I've been trying to narrow it down. It SEEMS to have something to do with a driver relating to my video card and wireless adapter. My wireless adapter would always act weird and when opening a new tab, it would say no internet, but the other tabs would work fine.

Then, once I install the latest NVIDIA drivers, I begin to experience these crashes. I don't know if it's from Windows update installing their own driver or the actual driver I download. I can't seem to stop Windows from forcing a driver update over the existing ones, unless I install it without internet, but maybe it's still installing?

It seems like a driver conflict. Only fix is to re-install Windows. Is there a way to disable Microsoft's cuck-ification? Maybe through hosts? Fucking Microsoft.

Recently my computer has been randomly shutting down and not turning on until I leave it alone for a while and then come back. Used speccy to see if anything looked strange, and nothing was, so I turned it off and went about fiddling with everything in my computer to make sure everything was in right. Ended up trying to reseat my heatsink because my friend had a similar issue and that fixed it for him, but didn't have any thermal paste to redo that. Now when I turn my pc on it gets 70 degree temps idle and over a hundred if I try gayming. Is it fucked or do I just need new thermal paste?

I want to build a 'central hub' so to speak of data, a home server that would operate at low power and allow me to access files both at home and remotely. I mostly work in a windows-based ecosystem. I already have an iPod touch 4G 32GB so I don't need the old one. I was thinking what cool things i can do with an Apple TV since I don't have something to stream to my livingroom tv.

It's not really a big deal but kinda annoying.

If I turn my desktop off via manually hitting the power button or power goes out etc. (not turning it off correctly), it'll reboot saying date/time not set and boot into my HDD which I obviously don't want.

To fix this I've gotta open up the case, disconnect my HDD, and boot again since BIOS won't even recognize my SSD unless the HDD is completely disconnected.

Any ideas how to fix this? I assume it has to do with the CMOS yeah? The date/time goes back to factory date (sometime in 2015) when I reboot into my SSD but otherwise everything is fine.

I tried to visualize it somewhat and got that pic which made me lean towards option a. Does the problem I thought of in the pic for option b make sense? You could technically assign a room from building A to a section in building B which makes no sense since it can't be in two places at once. You can't do that with option 'a': 1 building -> many sections -> many rooms.

Why would you need to use USB? It looks like you have a good half dozen SATA ports.

If your old windows was installed on that HDD, you should be able to look at it in Disk Management and delete any small partitions, and expand the main one if you want. Then just delete the program/system folders and anything that isn't useful to you any more.

I dbaned and reformated the drive and was thinking about partitioning the drive like this:
1. unencrypted primary linux /boot partition
2. encrypted extended linux partition
a. logical swap partition

3. unencrypted extended windows partition

When my GPU (AMD Mobility HD 3650...Ouch) is the bottleneck, am I negating the performance gains of xfce if I use the xfce-flat style, mint-x window theme, and enable drawing to the vertical blank?

you can run that without booting into another system or chrooting

also, instead of excluding virtual mounts (which you should only be excluding the contents of, not the folder itself), you can use "-x", which tells tar not to cross filesystem boundries, aka, only include files actually on the / mount (you'll also want to add things like /home as well if they're on a different filesystem though)

Reinstall windows.

Use MSI Smart tools with your USB(the one you are using to install windows).
This will add USB 3.0 drivers right away.

Also donwload 3DP Network, it will add network drivers without internet.

Got some recordings on an LG TV here that I would want to play on a PC or convert to some other format.

Only way I found to transform these files ending in STR (not an extension, by the way) which are the ones that contain the recordings, is to convert that shit to .TS using some paid software for windows called TS Doctor.

Does anyone by any chance know of an alternative to that software, or how to play or convert these STR videos?

If ive got a website on wordpress that i want to transfer the hosting do i just download my files and ftp them to the other webhost to keep my content?
