Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

>Consider stock fan+heatsink for any i3 or locked i5 build without a Z mobo
>Consider a B250 or mobo for any Pentium or i3 build
>Add a 240GB SSD to the "Very Good" tier build

Why there`s some mobo with the m.2 located just under the first PCIe? Isn`t it a dumb thing as m.2 can run hot and while being under the gpu there`s not much airflow. Why do they still do this?
>>
>>59401609
The heat is a meme. They do their thing too fast to get hot, only operations designed to test ssd's can make them overheat. Normal usage isn't a problem.

How much psu is too much psu? The total maximum wattage for this rig is about 400w. I added a 520w psu. I've seen so many people say things like "that psu is overkill for your build" in other threads with builds very similar to mine where the psu was 650w or more.

>>59402966
If it's not working then there's no issue in it getting hot
Also try to remember where the heat is coming from on the GPU and where it's airflow is going, it's not a big deal how hot your M2 gets unless it's throttling because of it, and if the heats only coming from your GPU and not the drive (due to overuse), then your drive won't throttle and you have nothing to worry about

If you overclock just get the 1700 and do it yourselve. The 1800x exists just to plug and play as it were.

Make sure you have at least BIOS 0902.
>>

The 7700k can't play games and stream?
The 1700 lacks an overclocking feature right? It's some bullshit turbo, and the X series is what overclocks?

and their tdp is quite a lot lower too
>>
>>59403114
I don't record or stream to anyone but myself, does steam stream even support using capture cards? I figured since I can stream fine 95% of the time with the i5, all I would need is some extra multitasking threads and I'd be good to go?

>the i7 can't play games and stream
Are you autistic?
>>
>>59403156
See I thought the "motherboard lottery" meme died years ago
I don't care about on paper or this CPU vs this CPU, if ryzen can offer me an overclockable motherboard AND a CPU as powerful as a 6600k with extra threads for $300 I'll grab one right now
But as of now, keeping my motherboard and buying an i7 for $300 seems like the better option

I didnt say that, I said it drops frames, but it depends on your stream settings, low enough and u'll be fine.

>The 1700 lacks an overclocking feature right?
No. All Ryzen chips can OC with a X370 or B350 chipset mobo.

>Plus motherboard are too expensive right now
lolwut?

>there's a huge used market of 6700ks, upgrade or not, ryzen is not in my near future

>>
>>59403204
Graphics settings has something to do with streaming fps?
When I stream to my laptop it gets set to 60fps at 1800p and has no graphical issues, I usually play at 144fps 1440p without any issues locally, it's when the CPU gets loaded to 100% is when (the 6600k) drops frames while streaming
It's smooth as fuck for most of the time
Low graphics settings changes nothing expect it looks shittier at a standstill

>RX 480 8GB
>Some more or less equivalent nvidia GTX card with 6GB
and that's it.
>>
>>59403430
But what settings would make a 6600k be able to both play games and stream?
At the moment I don't give a shit about another CPU if I can get this one to play games and stream without a hiccup every 5 minutes
If that's just physically impossible with a 6600k THEN I'll look into upgrading
Doesn't matter which brand, I don't want to give anyone $300+ unless I need to

The prices of the 1050ti and 470 are close enough to be comparing them
The 1050 is just too low price to have competition (if you really care about price/performance, get the 1050 and accept your sub-60fps life) and the 470 really just wrecks the 1050ti for (relatively) just a little bit more money
I would definitely get the 470 over a 1050ti personally

More hz = more frames per second displayed on the screen? Can our eyes really see the difference is something goes over 60fps?
>>
>>59403517
Not the 1050
The 1050 is a budget class demolisher, the 1050ti is too closely priced to "normal" GPUs to be a good buy

why the fuck are you buying skylake cpu and z170 mobo when kabylake and z270 is the same price?
yes you should ditch the HDD for a bigger SSD, it's easier to add storage later than replacing OS drive. also you should get NVMe SSD instead of SATA.
get a nice case if you're spending that much money already.

If you meant to quote me who asked a list of worthwhile GPUs I'd just rather get a RX480 then. Thing is if I can hit a little higher for it to be a little more future-proof I could.

1070, $380 minimum and absolute overkill for 1080p
1080ti, like $700? And literally a 4K maxed gaymen card
If used is okay, a 980ti and Fury X come close to a 1070, but I doubt you'd find a much better deal on those
1070 will get you high-fps 1080p but everything better is practically a waste at 1080p

Zalman is making good cheap cases these days. I wouldn't count on Corsair, Cooler Master, and Fractal continuing to try and compete in that market space. They don't make money selling cases for under $50 USD.

If you're a small builder I'd suggest pushing up your "budget," line to where sourcing is convenient. $400 builds are still easy to source. $300 builds not so much right now.

Nevermind actually CPU and mobo are fine, just the RAM frequency doesn't match ,as you can see here https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rLs8TW/msi-motherboard-h110mgaming (or on the CPU page too since it's Skylake non-K) they don't support 2400mhz RAM so go 2133. If you put the 2400 one it'll just downgrade to 2133 so there's no point paying for something that won't work as it should.

No way to get a 6500? They're cheap nowadays.

Tell me if I am being retarded.

I bought some standoffs, but they were shorter than all the preinstalled standoffs. So my motherboard would bend if I screwed everything in.

What if I added those red insulation washers under my standoff to even up height like in the picture?

Muh 4k editing build :

MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON
Be Quiet Pure Rock
EVGA 850 BQ Modulaire
AMD Ryzen 7 1700X
Cooler Master Silencio 652S 114,90 €
Corsair Force MP500 - 120 Go
Kingston SSDNow M.2 SATA G2 (SM2280S3G2480G) - 480 Go
Samsung Serie 960 EVO M.2 PCIe NVMe - 250 Go

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p6JtRG

My first gayman PC, but I'll also be using it for photo editing.

Ugly ass HAF X because my apartment is an oven and giant phanteks for the same reason. With the exception of storage and RAM, everything's already bought so I guess I'm just looking for validation or general advice on what to change in the future.

I'm only having problems deciding on RAM. I'm caught between
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XTnG3C/avexir-memory-avd4uz124001604g2cor

Because syncing up the lighting might be neat and I'm also concerned about the height clearance under my heatsink, which should be about 42mm without repositioning the fans. These avexir ones measure 40mm

I honestly prefer the look of
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/R6RFf7/gskill-memory-f42133c15d8gvr

But google tells me it's actually taller than the other ones. I gave consideration in another thread to flipping the heatsink vertically so the fans blow heat from the top to make room, but it turns out I was a retard because then the fins AND fans block my RAM and also obstruct my gpu.

So then I thought about relocating the card with riser cables but fuck I feel like I'm already experimenting with more complicated shit without even completing the basics.

I want to build a quiet machine on a budget. Thinking of 500GB SSD vs. 250GB SSD and 1TB HDD to eliminate the noise of the HDD. Problem is, I have no experience with modern HDD's (like the new seagates). I have a 7 year-old loud WD 500GB drive. Are HDD's quiet enough these days or should I just go full SSD? (trying to stay within a $1100 budget, ~$130 is the most I can spend on storage).
>>
>>59410654
why is noise a concern?

Are you hiding somewhere?
>>
So due to certain circumstances, I have to buy 4 of my new PCs parts in advance while I am at uni before I order the rest of the parts. What are the "safest" components to get before the rest of the machine is assembled?

I live in a small room. Probably smaller than a lot of prison cells. It's also a shack where there is space between the top of the wall and the ceiling.

My current rig sounds like an airport and it's starting to piss people off. It's pissing me off too, I can hear it with over-ear headphones on. 7 years on the stock cooler is one hell of a ride.
>>
>>59410697
Why only 4? That seems like a rather arbitrary restriction.

I'd say PSU and RAM because long warranty (lifetime in the case of RAM) and then probably the case and storage.
>>
>>59410792
I am getting an SSD as well as a hard drive though, which would leave me with only two choices (will probablly get the RAM, which leaves me with either the case or the PSU)
>>
>>59410770

Definitely PSU and RAM then. Get a good quality 650W and you should be good for anything, unless you're into some crazy SLI-setup.

>>
>>59410815
Nah, it's just the city I live/work in is expensive as fuck, so I can only afford to rent a room in a house with 3 other people. It's actually pretty comfy, but noise is a huge issue.
>>
>>59410832
I have 550W right now planned for it but Newegg says that their return policy is only for 30 days but their warranty is for 7 years, what is the difference between the two?
>>
>>59410840
Taichi is the stripped down, non-ricer version of one of the other boards. It's the most cost-efficient X370 board you can buy right now.
If you want more features, go with the other boards.
>>
>>59410885
It means that if something happens within 30 days you deal with Newegg, after 30 days the 7 year warranty is with the product manufacturer.

I dunno man, does it have the features you want? All of the X370 boards out are "Good", but just to varying degrees of good.
>>
>>59411095
Warranty. Although if your heart is set on a case, you could get it instead. With the PSU a 650 will be good for most anything and if it's something like EVGA G2/G3 it has a 7-year warranty. The warranty starts ticking as soon as you buy. However, I suppose any case defects should become apparent before the warranty expires. I know personally i'm still mulling over form factor, so I wouldn't buy my case first.

Very solid build, although I think you're overspending on the GPU. I'd definitely hold off on the CPU/mobo and see what happens with the R5 if you can.

I'm getting an XFX because I heard the same things, but just get the 4gb one and save the ~$50 since you're only playing at 1080p. That will be plenty and you can just overclock the memory if you get into a pinch (not likely for a while).
