Here's another one that's almost ending http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Seiko-Quartz-Type-2-7123-watch-Made-in-Japan-1978-/182462739343?hash=item2a7ba0738f:g:TUkAAOSw4CFYrF4J

To ebay correctly: Decide how much you want to spend on the item, not the lowest you want to get the item for, assign a value in your head you are happy to bid. Say $50. Wait until 10 seconds till the end and then big $50 even if the item is only at $10.

You will win the item, or if you lose the item you wont be sad as you've driven up the price for someone else, and it's gone for more money than you wanted to pay.

>>59129815
All quartz watches are like that if you don't reset the seconds hand correctly. Which might be tricky considering the rotor at the other end of the gear train isn't really stopped from rotating by anything.

BTW, since el primero has come up, one other place to look for the El Primero movement is in older Movados.

This sold earlier this month
http://chronocentric.com/forums/chronotrader/index.cgi?page=1;md=read;id=64208

Zenith made the El Primero available to Movado and Movado made the Movado 408 available to Zenith. Both are actually 36,000 beat movements.

So this watch here is a Zenith using the Movado movement.

It's fucking shameful we should even have to worry about it. If Seiko is assembling those parts by machine it's not hard to make a robot that can align parts with an extremely high degree of precision using a camera. If it's being done by people it's even worse as not only is that something easily automated but a human can see it's fucking wrong right then.

>>59130813

It's the only LCD digital watch ever produced with solar charging, radio atomic sync, electroluminescent backlight, stainless steel case, and stainless steel bracelet with solid links and solid end links.

They are hard to find now and not cheap (I paid $180 plus shipping for this one from Yahoo! Japan Auctions), but they are the best LCD quartz watch ever made. The model number is SBPG001 or S760-0AA0.

The icon in the bottom right corner shows how strong the radio signal reception was at last sync. One other neat feature is that the watch continues to display the running time while in the alarm, chrono and timer modes.

Anon that wanted to make a review channel here
I have about 5 or 6 episodes thought out. No bullshit 20 minute reviews, just 5 or 10 minute humorous video about the watch and the type of person that wears it.
Maybe an in detail follow up

But most importantly:
>No shitty Aussie/britbong/whatever other sub-human accent
>No fucking white gloves
>No hands at all really, just panorama shots in various angles to how off the watch and movement if possible
>No bullshit heritage
>No skwaleee/MOTM shilling
>No fatrico

Still need to get audio/video equipment and find a place to record.
Can't really do it at home because it's always too noisy, so I'm thinking about doing it in my car.

My BIGGEST problem though is that most of my watches are Casio's, Seikos and various other cheap watches. No idea if people are even going to be interested.
Still don't know how I'm going to solve that, buying better watches isn't really possible right now sadly.

Any suggestions watchbros?

I have a couple of 18mm watch bands. What are some good work watches I can put on them? Water resistance to an unassisted swimming depth, a good lume, and a central second hand are essential, a unidirectional bezel would be a plus.

That's a great idea, as long as it's in 1080p with decent lighting it wouldn't matter too much.

I would love to get some Steinhart owners to donate some clips
I would totally give the watches "positive" reviews..

It's a very nice watch. Personally I still prefer the guilloche dial of the AUTOMATIC SDGM003, but that's a matter of personal taste.

I like it a lot, although it's rather thick for my taste. I've worn it almost every day since I got it. Accuracy is very good on average, I'm only 6 seconds off from the last time I did a watchcheck measurement 11 days ago. Chrono feels awesome, there's a very satisfying click when starting or stopping.

Jazzmaster I think is a lot nicer. You can get much nicer dials and case profiles in the jazzmaster line, though I think they'll generally be a touch more expensive. Of course, if you're planning to change the hands on the visodate, that is NOT a cheap undertaking.

The case finishing on the Tissot is bottom of the barallel in my experience. It also IS the cheapest Swiss watch, and anyone familiar with the brand will know.

Many many years ago I stumbled across someone selling a vintage Omega Speedmaster on eBay who was apparently unaware that the one they were selling had the highly sought after Lemania 5100 movement. As such, the movement was mentioned nowhere in the listing and thus no one scoping out Lemania 5100 Speedmasters found the listing (other than me).

I got it for $400 USD. An absolute robbery, even then.

Alright, I'm going to post about this just because I feel like it has been a long time since I mentioned it, and some of the people here probably don't know, but might light to know.

If you're liking the idea of having a quality, thermocompensated quartz watch, maybe you even longingly look at the 9F quartz grand seikos but feel like you can't afford it, as they're around 2k MSRP, there are other options. Seiko has the 8J thermocompensated quartz movement. They're very nice and accurate (the same +/- 10 seconds a year you see on the 9F,) just doesn't have all of the features of the 9F, and don't get put in watches of quite the same quality of a GS (which means lower cost.)

So you're going to find the 8J movements in the Credor line but also the Dolce line (You might see Dolce & Exceline online, Dolce are the men's watches, Exceline are the women's.) The Dolce line is where you can find the good deals

SACM171, SACM150, SACM152, SACK015, SACL009 should all be currently available. For around 450-500 dollar MSRP, more like 370 street price. If you get one of these guys used, it will probably be even less.

>>
>>59137594
Do they have the independently adjustable hour hand?
>>
>>59137469
A TAG stands out too, but it's not because it's high quality.

It being bright fucking orange tends to help.

You generally don't want a $3000 watch to "Stand out", because you know, niggers are a thing, and they like watches that are big, with bright colours, that stand out.

Also. Depending on the model you get, Rolexes can be pretty understated. Datejusts and Explorers are sleak as fuck m8.

Meaning you can't set the date using the crown. You'd have to sweep the hour hand back & forth past midnight to change it.
>>
>>59138199
What's this from
>>
>>59138218
Which I suppose explains why you'd want such a watch to have the date and the day change at different times; otherwise setting a nonquickset daydate sounds impossible (and already sounds horrible).

There's nothing wrong with wearing women's watches if you have skeletor wrists, right /g/ros?
I couldn't even wear the F-91W properly so I had to remove the bracelet and keep the watch in my pocket ;_;

What's your wrist circumference? The f91w is not a big watch. Depending on your wrist size, you can probably wear down to at least 34 or 32mm before it starts looking strange for contemporary male fashion. Avoid diamonds, mother-of-pearl, rose gold, and bracelets (prefer straps). Also plenty of vintage pieces for men in the 34mm range to consider if you're up to dealing with the vintage market.

15cm
Everything looks too bulky.
>>
>>59138630
Yeah, very small. the F91W case should still fit your wrist though, it just might have a lot of awkward looking strap, right?
>>

POst it again!!!

>>59138467
Nah man who cares what it is labeled as mens or womens. As long as it looks good. Pic of wrists pls

>F91W
Yeah it's the smallest one I've found so far.
I've also seen some cheap Timex at 35mm, might look okay too.

ETA 2824 and Seiko 6R15 have both instant and quick-setting dates. They're not "complicated as fuck" movements.

>>59138857
6R15 is not instant change but my 8R is.

How to bid on eBay 101.
Always at the last 10 seconds, put 50 dollars more than your "max bid." Hard to explain, so example below:

Current max bid (You in the lead): $100
Time Left: 1 minute
>Bid raises to 110
>You bid 120, you're in the elad
>10 seconds left
>Some dude bids 130 and you lose

How to counter it with my method:
>Have in mind your "max bid" is actually $150, instead of 120.
At the very last 10 seconds, if the max bid is below $150, put 151 as max bid.

I mean, some nigger might put 1000 as last bid to secure any last minute faggots. Good luck.
