Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

So should I wait for zen? Was just gonna get an i5 and 1070 kind of sick of waiting.
>>
>>58960042
Personally I'd say yes, because you will be able to get almost 4c / 8t i7 performance at the cost of a current i5, and with the AM4 socket you will have an insane upgrade path. Undoubtedly higher clocked models (better single core performance) will arrive for the socket and you'll be able to upgrade to a future 8c / 16t CPU if you wanted to.

Of course everyone is still waiting on gaming benchmarks, so there is a chance that Ryzen won't perform as well as hoped.

One caveat is that Ryzen doesn't have a graphics component, so troubleshooting can be more difficult and there's no fallback if your gfx card dies. The 4c / 8t Ryzen APUs might be amazing if you want that graphics component for whatever reason, like in a GNU/Linux GPU passthrough setup.
>>
Why the fuck is my GPU so wobbly?
I didn't screw it in yet but is it normal for it to wobble?

It fitted really tight in the last mother(board)
>>
>>58960042
just wait 13 more days for the first benchmarks to find out if its worth it or not.

I'm waiting for ryzen to build a pc but I stucked with a problem. I want a build that render alot and I need a setup to setup up to 10-12 displays. I think I might need to use 2-3 gpu on crossfire but Idk which setup. Is 2 rx 470 on CF can render more than 1 rx480?

What are my options?
>>
Guys I have a problem.

The utility (asrock extreme tuner) that came with my mobo (asrock extreme 3 gen 3) reports that under load my i5 2500k temp is at like 95 Celsius. This is at stock clock too and I'm using the stock cooler. I've recently overclocked to 3.7GHz from 3.3GHz and it reads the same.

I check with speedfan and it reports around 72 Celsius instead.

What do?
>>
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zD3Zjc
what do you think?
>>
>>58960366
It was already doing 3.7 boost speeds so you didn't overclock anything. The lower reading is most likely the accurate one but check in a third program like hwmonitor to be sure. If you actually want to overclock replace that stock cooler asap.
>>
>>58960308
Most rendering is CPU based right? So figure out which program you're going to use and see what that program uses. For displays you don't need high power gfx cards.

>>58960381
It's fine, kinda weak. Unless you know the games you're playing favor Nvidia get the 4GB 470. 3GB is a bare minimum for a non esports build. If I had to build now I'd get the G4560 with an upgrade to an i7 in mind. i5s are significantly overpriced with the upcoming Ryzen release

I've got a Corsair 300R case for my rig, but I lost the accessories and I need some screws for another front fan.
Anyone here know the specifics for what kinda screw this is? I see people selling 'Corsair Hydro compatible' screws but I dunno if that's just for any old corsair fan etc.
Also if I know what kinda screw it is, I can avoid getting cucked, price-wise.

It's literally the only 1080p@144Hz monitor with Gsync I can find in Australia. The price is also decent.
>>

I'm sure you could google it and find something.

Personally I just install TinyWall as windows firewall helper and CommonSense2017 as antivirus. VLC/MPC as well

Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Startup tab, disable almost everything

Oh I want to kill myself but I don't have money for a gun.

As for Zbrush, is it heavier on the CPU side or the GPU side? I'm planning to save money and upgrade my pc with Ryzen meme but I'm not sure if I should focus more on the CPU. I also use 3Ds Max and I render, sometimes.
>>
Can someone recommend some tall mini-itx cases?

I'm looking for something that's approximately the size and shape of an xbox, tall and skinny is great, those chode shaped cases are absolutely unacceptable to me. The goal is for the pc to fit in to an under-tv entertainment console.

So far I'm looking at the "SilverStone RAVEN RVZ01B" and "SilverStone Milo Series ML07B" . Any other cases I should be looking at?
>>
>>58960932
What you want is not an ITX case, it's HTCP. Fractal Design Node 202 and SilverStone cases are pretty much all there is.
>>
>>58960536
So I can buy a rx480 for games and 1 or 2 cheap rx460 for the extra monitors?
>>
>>58961295
Yes if you're displaying at 1080p. If you want to duplicate the output the game on all monitors I'm not sure what you need
>>
>>58960875

Get the Asus PG248Q instead. It should only be $100 more, and not as hard to find.

It has better image quality, is built better, and you can overclock to 160-180Hz.
>>
>>58961367
The 10 monitors arent for gaming but for a special use like displaying 10 diffrents contents (video) simultaneously and beeing able to control them from 1 keyboard and mouse. Also for rendering videos and doing 3D rendering isnt the gpu have some parts to play?

212 was never good and it isn't capable of handling even a mild overclock on kaby lake chips.
Case fans do almost nothing for temps compared to a good CPU cooler, as long as you have basic airflow as provided by the fans that come with your case, you're good.
Of course it is nice to have even better all-around cooling and those fans are a nice upgrade later on, but do not skimp on a good cooler for them.

And I'm saying you're just lucky you can get 4,8ghz on a 212, I'm not even saying it's a bad cooler because it isn't. It is however retarded to spend 100$ on fans and a cooler and get a 212.

I have a problem with my new computer.

It has an SSD and a 1TB HD, with the OS installed on the SSD, it booted fine etc and I'm in Windows, but for some reason my bios can't see the SSD, but Windows can, but Windows isn't displaying the HDD? It says it's installed property in device manager etc but it isn't appearing in 'This PC'.

It does actually appear in the bios, both of them do, but only one is in the boot order list, then the opposite one is not being seen by Windows.

What did they mean by this? How do I even get started on troubleshooting this?

So i'm looking to upgrade my GPU to something that could handle modern games in 1080 and be able to stream/record for gaming. My power is 500W i believe and my current GPU is a 7850. Am I going to need to upgrade anything else in my PC for it to be compatible with everything? Also could use help with changing GPU's as i've never done that before. Willing to switch over to Nvidia as i've heard they are much better than AMD recently.
>>
Hey /pcbg/, I want to upgrade my shit prebuilt pc from a good 5 years ago. Right now it has:
>i3-2100
>H61 motherboard
>4GB RAM
>1TB 7200 RPM HDD
>300W PSU
>iGPU
>microatx case
>stock cooler that works well either way
budget of $600
I'm leaning between 3 builds:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VgxsPs - best build option currently. best GPU out of the 3, has a new PSU included, and I can upgrade to a Z77 motherboard later to OC the 2500k.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CwfvvV - has an i7, which makes it good by default, and can upgrade to a Z77 motherboard later for OCing. otherwise average.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rG4nM8 - babby lake, so faster than older stuff, DDR4 RAM, but have to get a lot of new things I wouldn't get otherwise like a new motherboard and fan. also can't get a better PSU as that doesn't fit into the budget.

In the specs it mentions this:
"Dual Ultra-Fast M.2 with PCIe Gen3 x4"

Will 4 PCI-E lanes be enough for the 960 Evo? Or should I look for a x16 M.2 adapter?

what do you need cpu for? i ask because maybe you could use a gpu instead. put an alert on craigslist in the "Free" section and the electronics section. normies will offload their old pc for nearly free just to get rid of it without paying a electronic recycling tax (here in CA). Also, businesses tend to upgrade their pcs all at once, and will dump tens of nice, solid computers like dell workstations. go to real life auctions. you may have to sit through some stupid crap, but occasionally you can buy a lot of pc parts for like $20 if there are no other techies there.

Nothing is wrong with bronze. Bronze doesn't mean it's shit tier it just means it is less efficient. A bronze PSU is wasting 18% as heat, so if it's working at 200W you're really only getting 164W of power, the rest is lost due to inefficiency.

As long as you have a good brand PSU and there is enough wattage left over after the waste you're fine.

Titan guy again. I'll be using the cards for machine learning. So do two 1070s outperform two Titan X Maxwells?
>>

Can't answer that. I know that the Titans have some professional features that the lower cards don't have.

Also that monitor is weak. At 35" you want 3440x1440
>>
>>58967369
1070 has about 1900 cores, maxwell has 3000. Cores are what's important in deep learning, mostly. 1080 performs better than maxwell apparently, even though it had 500 less cores. Pascal has 3500 or so.

Alright. So I guess I'll just get one pascal instead of two Maxwells. Apparently even 1 pascal is better than 2 1080s for parallel.
>>

As for the monitor, it is 144hz, which is the reason for the lower res. Are there better options? I like the curved.

That's because it saps 4 lanes from the CPU itself, so you're graphics card is stuck with 8 lanes

i need it for a cryptocoin. Yes, i know CPUs are outdated to GPU, and GPU to ASIC and ASIC to FPGA in certain coins. However this coin has an algorithm that makes GPU mining a waste of power, and beyond that very very difficult to implement, same for ASIC. I think it's going to do really well, and it's possible for me to get a ROI for something like a 20 dollar old server much quicker with that than with a GPU on other coins. I dont have to worry about power because it's included in dorms.
id really like to go to some auctions, but i have no idea where to find them, Near chicago, so i know there have to be some. Also, id love to do some kind of IT job, but again im finding it hard to find a job around me.

You might consider getting a smaller monitor at that res to get good pixel density. If the monitor is smaller there's no need for a curve though

Why would you want a high refresh rate if you aren't gaming? Companies market their things for certain demographics, high refresh rates are targeted towards gamers.

I've never had a good computer, just shit hand-me-down nettop computers that can't even watch HD video. I got $1,500 saved up and the wait to see if Ryzen really competes with Intel is killing me.

Can you mix two different ram brands assuming they are both 4gb and ddr4?

Yep, albeit I think most of us are too autistic to do it. Get the same clock speed though, or else they'll both default to the lower of the two.

They're both retarded gamer shit you most likely don't even need.

Should I replace the z270 and get an x99?

Is it worth it to upgrade to an RX 480 from an RX 470? If so, which RX 480 specifically?
>>
>>58970898
Depends on your needs. If you don't OC you can spend 60 - 80USD.

>>58970949
X99 is a different socket. Liquid coolers are really only for "aesthetics" or mITX builds

>>58969423
Don't get a 3TB unless you have seen blackblaze statistics and you know that the failure rate is tolerable

do they include remotes for monitors these days?

I'm wanting a multi HDMI output for my new monitor so I can have Xbox One and PC on it.

Ultimately I'll be using a three monitor set up. One TV, with HDMIx2 for PC and Xbox, and then two actual monitors, again one for the PC and Xbox, and then one dedicated for the PC.

Any tips? This is going to be my first time doing a set up like this. I haven't had a PC since the Intel Core 2 Duo was top of the line, so I don't even know what SLI is.

Where do i go next with my build without spending money? i'm being bottlenecked hard right now by my i5 2500k because my mobo doesn't support overclocking. my school computers i think have 3rd gen i7's in them, so i was thinking of going into the labs when nobody's there and swapping my i5 out for their i7.
i could just get a used mobo that supports overclocking, but then when i want to upgrade later on i'll need to buy another mobo. i'm thinking of just leaving it as is for now and wait until i can afford a new mobo ram and cpu.
lemme know what you guys think.

I will R8 because of your Dubs.
It seems like a moderately powerful gaming PC, probably will play most new games at 1440p 60 FPS.
I like the choice to go with a more budget friendly case that still looks pretty cool.
Will have to update us once all the parts come in.

Even though it is an unlocked processor, I do not plan on overclocking anything higher than from 3.8 Ghz to 4.0 ~ 4.2 Ghz.

Maybe I did goof the heck up.
Maybe not.

If you're at 1350 you're already at stock 480 perf. Check benchmarks to see whether you're getting the expected performance.

Most of the time dropping from Ultra to High provides a huge performance boost for almost no fidelity decrease
