Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

Drop cooler, use stock
Get a ~24" monitor. Used they're $50
>>
>>58975480
I've heard the stock cooler is loud and overall pretty shitty, is that not true? As for the monitor, any particular model you would reccomend?
>>
>>58975658
If you're at 1080p 60Hz model doesn't matter. I'm using an AOC 2330V I got for $50.
Current Intel stock coolers are fine

Get Cryorig M9i as cooler replacement. Cheaper, quieter, smaller and slightly cooler than the meme 212.

>>
>>58976338
Very likely the same. You said "Todays titles" but there aren't very many todays titles. 1060 is better than 470 but the fps change is only marginal. 480 8GB would be your best choice as it's cheaper than 1060 and better than 470.
>>
>>58976335
Wait until the RX 500 series comes out in a few months. You'll get the Vega architecture, which is "new" as far as I understand it. Polaris (RX 400 series) seems to be the end of the GCN line.
>>
>>58976338
Overclocking does make a significant difference even in games, if money isn't a huge huge issue i would get the K
The 470 will probably handle 1080p high 60fps, you'd probably need a 480/1060 for 1080p ultra 60fps
People are saying the 480 is marginally better than the 1060 now with updates, where it was marginally worse when they were released
>>
>>58976386
Don't really have the money for a K series CPU and Z series mobo plus cooler, so I'm sticking with a non-overclockable mobo and CPU. As for the GPU, I am looking more towards upgrading to a 1070 down the line so I'll most likely be sticking with Nvidia for my GPU.

Guys this is my first build and I'm getting really caught up over motherboards. Could really use some advice for a tech novice.

I going to be using wifi to connect to the internet due to living arrangements. So I've been looking at mobos with built in wifi.

How does this work? If I get a mobo with built in wifi presumably I don't need a usb wifi adapter? or a wireless network card?

If I get a mobo without built in wifi can I a novice easily just fit a network card? In which case is it just a cost thing whether it is cheaper to buy each separately or one mobo with it built in?

480 performs better in most benchmarks than 1060.
Like I said it's a fucking insignificant difference either way, that why I suggest "480/1060" when I recommend these because of fanboy dipshits like you, but if you're gonna bitch about "better" get ready to believe that AMDs top-end GPU is a better deal than nvidias lowest-end GPU.
But that's not relevant, tell me why you think buying a 1070 in the future (which is a fantastic card with no competition) means you need an nvidia card right now (the nvidia card that is more expensive and arguably worse than a 480, by the way)?
I'm basing my advice off of benchmarks and data, I don't give a shit if my pixel coloring hardware was designed by team a or team b as long as it performs
People only become fanboys because they hate other fanboys, don't be a part of the problem.
>>
>>58977092
>Less shit to die on the mobo itself

You can just replace the "built-in" wi-fi with any mPCIe/NGFF laptop wi-fi card from ebay if it dies.
>>
>>58976907
if your motherboard doesn't have built-in WiFi just use a pcie wireless card, you plug them in the same way as your graphics card, just make sure your motherboard has 2 pcie slots

>>
>>58977057
unless you can find a really good deal or need a lot of ram just get 8 gigs. DDR4 will only get cheaper from this point on.
>>
>>58977201
If that's an OEM disc the key is probably locked to your old mobo
>>
>>58977233
not really
>>
>>58977125
I agree, the difference is negligible. I completely understand people who like the AMD cards and don't dislike them for it. The 1060 just fits my aesthetic for my build better. AMD definitely is a better deal, but I'm just autistic about colors and design so I prefer the GPU I picked in this case.
>>
>>58977277
Which card brand are you going with that is both aesthetic and cross-brand?
I can't think of any really, all the AMD-specific cards look dumb and all the nvidia-specific cards look dumb too
The cards that look good are generally cross-brand, unless you prefer a black (or silver) plastic box with shit cooling blower card
>>
>>58977266
What do you mean "not really?" There's no in between with whether a copy is OEM or not.
>>
>>58977335
This is not an appropriate use of the word "aesthetic"
Please use it to describe a something like a sensation, see:
>Which card brand are you going with that has both aesthetic appeal and is cross-brand.

Thanks!
>>
>>58977343
I have used this on my laptop that had win 8
>>
>>58977335
I don't quite understand your question. If you are asking what manufacturer I am buying my 1060 from, I am getting the MSI-produced one. Yes I have seen their RX 480 one but I prefer the design of that or the Gigabyte one better. The MSI version of the 480 is also only marginally cheaper than their version of the 1060 (at least according to pcpartpicker)
>>
>>58977374
Sorry I meant to say which card is A E S T H E T I C *Windows XP ding*

>>

$500-700 spending. Might hold off on a GPU in preparation for Vega. Want a SSD but see they gone up in prices since black friday.

I always go for bang-for-buck pc builds and go for 2-3 years before building something new. Not Interested in top-of-the-line/cutting edge. This PC done me reel gud but feeling its limitations now that next-gen stuff finally caught up. Most notably felt it in Dying Light.

How much of a meme are corsair hybrid coolers/kraken and the like?

I'm considering one to put the heat from the middle rather to the end of the computer, deactivate top and basically let it result in a pure front to end flow. (Less a problem of OC or whatever, but how the PC is currently positioned in the room).

Hey /pcbg/, I want to upgrade my shit prebuilt pc from a good 5 years ago. Right now it has:
>i3-2100
>H61 motherboard
>4GB RAM
>1TB 7200 RPM HDD
>300W PSU
>iGPU
>microatx case
>stock cooler that works well either way
budget of $600
I'm leaning between 3 builds:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VgxsPs - best build option currently. best GPU out of the 3, has a new PSU included, and I can upgrade to a Z77 motherboard later to OC the 2500k.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CwfvvV - has an i7, which makes it good by default, and can upgrade to a Z77 motherboard later for OCing. otherwise average.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rG4nM8 - babby lake, so faster than older stuff, DDR4 RAM, but have to get a lot of new things I wouldn't get otherwise like a new motherboard and fan. also can't get a better PSU as that doesn't fit into the budget.

>>
>>58982004

okay real quick

>7700k and 3200mhz RAM

this is some good hardware, but it takes a bit of time and effort to wring out the performance. are you tech-savvy and a bit adventurous? if not, go for a 7700 and some ddr4-2400, it will still be stupid fast.

same with the CPU cooler. that's the best cooler available but it's a bitch to install and it's expensive. if you're not overcooling looking into a dark rock 3 or a 212 EVO.

as far as the motherboard goes, make sure it can even use 3200mhz RAM. otherwise you're just wasting money.

for the SSD. i personally use a 250gb SSD for my boot drive and a 1tb HDD for my media and programs. this gives me fast start up times and plenty of room to grow. another place to save cash

as far as a graphics card goes, i don't know what your hobbies are so i can't comment.

the mid-tower case is big. big enough to fit 2 GPUs and several case fans.

you want a Seasonic or EVGA G2 PSU

be careful about getting in the noctua meme. other 140s are just as quiet.

if you don't plan on overclocking then your cooler is overkill

same with the RAM. 3000mhz would need an overclock in the BIOS

otherwise it would be a nice build.
>>

Wait for Zen.
Besides the jump from 7400 to 7500 is entirely dependent on if you got the few extra bucks or not, in terms of gaming there will be no big improvement to be seen.

Depending on your overclocking wishes you might also go for a bigger cooler.

either way fans would be only in front and back

How are ITX GPUs in terms of noise? Current case can't accommodate anything more than 6.5 inches. Mainly concerned with driving 4K + 1080p monitors for productivity and maybe Minecraft.

Hey all. I was hoping for some all around advice on what to do, but mostly for finding a Solid State Drive 1Tb drive.

Last night my laptop's Hard Drive died on me (lucky, I backed up most of it prior), and I'm out a HDD for my laptop. It's an older model, about five to seven years old. Samsung i5, older model. Intel 4000 HD graphics card. 12 gigs ram are the specs I remember at the moment.

I'm looking for a solid state drive as a replacement, 1 TB. I don't have much money, but I don't want a 250 gig when nowadays games are like 40 gigs a game.

anyway, I was wondering where might I go looking for a good SSD online.

I see a few deals on Newegg, especially with president's day sales going on this seems like a perfect time to buy one.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16822145875

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822179111&cm_re=ST1000LX015-_-22-179-111-_-Product

But I'm not sure on the quality of the products. Which brands should I avoid and which ones should I focus on? This is the biggest thing I'd like to know. I already lost one HDD, I don't want to lose another.

I hope you guys don't mind the wall of text, I'm not sure who to turn to at the moment for all this.

If I were to get a rx 470 ot 1050 ti would I have to get a CPU cooler instead of stock?

My case has 2 fans and stock CPU fan. Would the GPU fan and others be enough?

Also would a 430 PSU be enough for power or would I have to upgrade to 500+ ?

No OC'ing my CPU since not my style and it's a i5-4460 anyhow

>>
>>58989824

>>
>>58988542
I see.

At the moment, after trying to do research, I'm so confused. I want a good HDD that'll I'll be able to use, yet the more I search the more dead ends I find.

Everyone says Seagate sucks, yet others say it's great and the go to.

I sincerely don't know, I have no idea what Hard drive I should get, what's a good brand to trust, and type of hard drive.

I hope you don't mind, but what should I be looking for? I only got a hundred or so bucks to spend, what do I get?

Also, how easy is it to put it in myself? ATM, it's at a computer repair place and I fear them taking me for a ride.

I don't know what to do or who to talk to.
