Are used Macbooks a shitty investment? I need a decent computer for music production and having done quite a bit of research I feel paralyzed by knowledge.

I love linux but the DAW I wish to use is not native there.
Windows 10 is hideous and in my experience a resources hog (am I wrong?) compared to the Linux distros I've used, but everything works on it.
Mac """"""just works""""" but the hardware you get seems unimpressive for the price. And the new Macbooks have that weird lack of ports which I find off putting.

I wish some one would just tell me what to do. I just want a system that doesnt get in the way of me recording and ultra low latency and the ability to use Reaper.

Dear god I am beaten.

There isn't really a good or standard answer to "how do I into libraries" in C-land.

I personally store external deps in my source tree and build static libraries on all platforms, because dynamic linking is a retarded idea that seriously needs to die. On the other hand, if you want to have your program packaged by a major Linux distro you will almost certainly have to support dynamic linking.

As to what your folder structure looks like, who cares? You have worse problems to deal with.

I like the 2012 classic MBP.

Second-hand ones are pretty cheap.

The MBP can go to 16GB ram, and as much ssd as you can afford.
That said, I think of it as equivalent to the equivalent to the base 2016 MB.
So as long as that lasts.

I think the usb3.0 makes it viable.
The usb3.0 runs at 5Gbps... which matches the speed of current MBs.
(Current MBPs are 10Gbps.)

I just want put this nice wallpaper https://geofrikphotos.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/star-forming-region-lh95-in-the-large-magellanic-cloud.jpg at my tumbrl page as background, using the html edition.

I found this guide http://smallbusiness.chron.com/change-background-picture-custom-tumblr-theme-31421.html but still without working (maybe I doing somethig wrong)

Anyway, some can tell me how the fuck I should paste that code in the tumblr's html? I'm a fucking neophyte related with html code. The thing most "hacker" that I did related with this kind of codes was at flickr, when I was trying to "steal" pictures at a high resolution, just changing those key words in the url of picture: s= small size; o= original size.

It told you, just paste background-image inside of style tags

Order doesn't matter, it just needs to be inside of style tags.

"You've been signed in with a temporary profile. You can't access your files, and files created in this profile will be deleted when you sign out. To fix this, sign out and try signing in later. Please see the event log for more details or contact your system administrator."
>restart laptop to see if this is just a one off error but it's the same when it boots back up

How the hell do I just get my profile back? My files all seem to be intact (and I have almost all of them backed up already) at least. I've done some Googling and I'm thinking that the profile may be corrupted or outright deleted (?). Why would this have happened? More importantly, how do I fix it so I can just have my shit back to normal. Thanks in advance.

basically after a certain amount of chats in a certain time frame, it will detect you as a bot and make you solve a captcha after each chat

I don't think fdisk will resize your filesystem for you.
You'll have to do this manually first, before using fdisk.

Alternatively you could look for something that handles filesystem resizing and partitioning in one.
parted/gparted/something with a nice gui, maybe.

no the computer HDD and SSD don't have anything other than the BIOS they came with. I'm not trying to be pretentious, it's just all I listen to. I've watched a few reviews and they mention pop music, not having enough bass etc, which doesn't really apply to me (I like the Smiths tho)

Also I've never used Open-back headphones; I listen to music fairly softly in general, would it be noticeable to someone sitting across a few desks in a library?

You can definitely install without another os on either the HDD or SDD. You most likely messed up the install on the USB. That's okay though, I always do that a few times. Test it before you wreck it. So, back to the point

This is definitely a dumb question but I'm coming from Python so I don't know any better.

I'm learning C, and I'm wondering about compiling with libraries. Say I wanted to do a simple network request so I utilize the existing libcurl library. It's installed and included and all that.

After compiling the executable, will I still need libcurl installed for the program to function correctly?

What I'm wondering is, does the compiler get all the necessary parts into the executable, or will other libraries (external of the executable) still be required for operation?

>After compiling the executable, will I still need libcurl installed for the program to function correctly?

If you statically link the library, then the library will end up in your binary, and you will not need libcurl installed on your target system.
If you dynamically link the library, then your binary will search the computer for the library, and so you will need libcurl installed on your target system.

The advantage of dynamic linking is that a security update of libcurl doesn't force a new release of your binary.

When you package your binary for a distribution, you can specify libcurl as a dependency and the packaging system will make sure it is installed.

The power output is comparable to a single dim LED, and it's unfocused. How much warmth do you feel if you squeeze an LED? That's all you're getting from the gamepad, and it's unfocused. Radio can only warm tissue, nothing else. Higher power levels can cause inflammation, or even burns and nerve damage, but the intensity here is far too low to register on anything not specifically tuned to its wavelength.

If you really care about your sperm, you should overhaul your diet.

Hey /consumer electronics/, I want a new used phone and I'm looking at the LG g5 and v10. They're both about the same price with similar enough specs, the biggest difference being the LTE FDD/TDD bands they can access. The g5 has like 7 more FDD bands than the v10 but it has 2 more TDD bands. Both can use all of the bands for my carrier but I'm curious which of these would be more important/better for future proofing and speed between TDD and FDD?

Hook it up to your network and dump some of that on another computer to try to free up some space.
Then try defragging it.
And putting a new partition in the free space.
Then installing an OS in the new partition.

If the drive already has a couple of partitions then you don't have to bother the defrag step.

If you think it's a usb drive disconnecting problem.

(1)
Try writing a script that touch a file on the external every 60 seconds to see if that keeps it connected.

while : ; do touch /path/to/file ; sleep 60 ; done ;

(2)
Not doing anything with the external while clonezilla is running, like opening a file, or even just browsing the drive.

Does the external have its own power brick?

Oh, I see, it's a Lenovo piece of shit. You should probably downgrade to Lollipop. It's not like you're missing out on much.

Well don't call it a fucking low end system if you've got that much firepower in it. Some of us have set up torrent servers and shit on 500MHz pic relateds.

I said it was a system constraint (For converting music is certainly is). It's a frankenstein system made up of things I had lying around.

OBS works well enough. You can just tell it to not capture audio and/or remove the audio track when compressing with ffmpeg afterward.

Does it say bluetooth is enabled anywhere?
Can it itself be found?

From a linux perspective, I wonder if the kernel driver is being loaded and the bluetooth hardware being found.
I also wonder if there is a hardware kill switch.

Tor I guess, though torrenting over Tor is a bad idea for various reasons. Or you could use closed networks like I2P.

So recently I installed a new hard drive into my computer. It's an old HD with some files leftover in it.
The computer I'm currently using has both windows and linux installed and chooses between them with GRUB.
I want to have another version of windows installed. Will GRUB be able to handle that?
Do I have to format the new hdd?

Why can't you open a .jar file just by double clicking when you have JRE and JDK installed?

Because their thing needs arguments to know it's a jar even though it's in the file name.

Though you could probably do Open with... and then a batch file with the proper arguments couldn't you?

Windows don't like grub and most likely will delete it, when you install windows after linux.
In such case, you'd need to re-install grub.

no, not a physical cable you tard, the internet technology you use to connect to the internet, like DSL or Fiber, there is something called cable.

just call your ISP and ask why your speed goes up and down. but if you have CABLE connection you share your network with the whole neighborhood so you can only get UP TO 5Mbit when no one else is using their internet

Your ISP cant see what you're doing because it's encrypted.
If you get a trusted VPN host (check torrentfreak, i think they still keep a list of good ones) they dont monitor you and they dont save any info about you.
