I just picked this up yesterday and i can't seem to figure it out.

no. sell your old and buy a single better card
>>
>>58870212
what could i get for about $200 then (aud). Is crossfire really that bad?
>>
>>58870226
Crossfire/SLI has never been perfect, lots of people get microstutter and some games dont scale very well.

Check the RX470 or RX480. Alternatively a 390X. Should be about 40-50% faster (around 30% with a 470).

Tho your card is still fairly good, I'd wait until summer and see what gets released, that lets you save up some more money aswell.

If you want you could just try getting that second card and try crossfire, and if the result is not good you can sell both cards and upgrade.

Guys

Do I get a gtx 980 ti for $300

Or a gtx 1080 for $500

They're both in excellent condition with box and all, the 1080 still has warranty and was purchased a month ago, I dunno about the 980 to

I know the 980 tis are super expensive right now because of limited supply, so idk if $300 is a good deal

It's for my first build. If Iget the 1080 the total cost for the PC would be around $1000 even

I don't have 4k or 1440, YET. Or VR. But I know the 1080 can handle these quite well.

Which is the better deal?

Whats a decent AV? I've never really bothered with AV for a couple of years now, ever since I started using noscript anyways. I'm not switching from ventrilo. Syncplay lets you watch files with other people using MPC-HC, you both need the files, it just hosts a room and syncs your time and you can pause and stuff. SPV does video magic I don't understand to make shows run at 60 fps filling in the in between frames.

you dont need to uninstall iGPU, that is only used if you plug a monitor into the mobo video output.
you should uninstall old drivers before installing the new ones.
after you done that you can try the DP again.

thanks. I'm new to android in general so I don't know what google apps I should strive to get. I was gonna use aroma to pick and choose but and others say I should go with mini.

What google apps should I get besides Maps and playstore (which I consider a must)

Installed right off the amd website, the official drivers I guess.

It bugged out like this before I even installed the drivers though, I was about to and all of a sudden it killed the feed and said signal was lost.

If I restart the computer, it will display the bios screen with the displayport cord, but then as it gets to windows it cuts off.

encryption algorithms? Check out openssl's source code. It's actually not too much of a clusterfuck once you get into it.

Hello world would be to set up two processes that send some data back and forth via a TLS connection using some good strength / exotic crypto. Then you can profile with perf to maybe optimize / break some shit, or find bugs in openssl... bugs in openssl are serious because literally all of industry uses it for their servers

Stack allocation is limiting because you can (1) only use the allocated objects during that scope and (2) it wastes memory if the allocated object needs to change in size i.e. a vector and (3) stack space is limited, for good reason.

Stack allocation is fast (no dynamic allocation overheads) and convenient (just declare the variable lol) and if you are absolutely sure that the above limitations don't hurt you, do it.

(1) is straightforward.

(2) is subtle. Yes, C exposes a lesser-known interface via "alloca" that lets you allocate a variable amount of space on the stack, so in principle you could implement a vector on the stack. However, let's say that after allocating the vector you put elements in it and need to make the vector larger. A second call to alloca() can be used to give you a larger vector, however _there is no way to free stack space allocated by alloca_ so the old, too small, vector buffer will persist until the function returns - which is probably not what you wanted. In comparison, if you had allocated the vector on the heap you could just free the old (too small) vector buffer and switch to the new vector buffer without waste.

You might ask why (3) is a thing, i.e. in the 64bit era why aren't stacks enormous, well it's because debuggers need to walk the stack and a limited stack is a good way to catch runaway infinite recursion. So, limited stack sizes are not going away any time soon => very large objects should be heap allocated.

1050Ti is a substantial upgrade over the 660Ti. The 1050Ti can play modern games on 1080p at respectable framerates while having plenty of graphical settings turned on. At that price point, you may also consider an RX 470. Slightly more costly than a 1050Ti, but more powerful.

I'm looking for a 10-12" netbook. I'm aware it's 2017 and netbooks are a dead meme, but still. The main purpose would be Python/C programming on the train (my train doesn't have 220V outlets) and taking notes during lectures.
90% of the time the it would be running Arch, tmux, vim and other non-demanding CLI programs. No GUI.
Regarding that, battery life should be at least 3 hours. Rest of the hardware doesn't matter, though USB2 and inner SATA for a replacement SSD would be nice.

Where do I get a lil' fucker like that? Is it possible under 100€?

It's shit, I don't recommend LaTeX for presentations, any WYSIWYG powerpoint clone will let you show high resolution renderings of equations you export from pdflatex (inkscape has a neat plugin that lets you write equations directly into inkscape and have them TeX-ified and exported.)

If you can't into design and/or don't like WYSIWYG presentation editors there's always markup-to-slideshow tools, many of which have pleasing templates right out of the box, c.f. marp.

So, Im trying to make a serial-controlled mp3 module work but i have no idea how the chinese guys made the checksum.
I have the DFP mini (the idea is to controling it with a PIC)

here's the datasheet: http://www.picaxe.com/docs/spe033.pdf

Here's an example of the comunication

7E // start
FF //version
06 //command lenght
06 //command
00 //feedback
00 //par1
0f //par2
FF //checksum high
D5 //chechsum low
EF //FIN

datasheet says that the checksum is calculated by "accumulation and verification, minus start bit"
But im not sure what the verification means

Forums say that it's "0 - (version+command lenght + command + feedback + par1 + par2)"
but that doesn't seem to add up in any of the examples.

Examples (from the datasheet):

7E FF 06 06 00 00 0F -FF D5- EF
7E FF 06 0D 00 00 00 -FF EE- EF
where -checksum-

From the review at the bottom
http://www.robotshop.com/ca/en/dfplayer-mini-mp3-player.html#Useful%20Links

the manual's examples just have the wrong checksum, presumably the writer did crappy calculations by hand and called it a day.

My computer sometimes gets stuck in boot cycles and sometimes the display doesn't work. Whenever I turn it on one of a few things happens

a) It turns on then turns off shortly after before starting up again and either continuing or progressing to another option.
b) It turns on but the display doesn't work
c) It turns on and the display works

Some days I turn it on and it works straight away, some days it cycles a few times then works and other days I want to throw it out the window.

Once it starts up shit progresses fine until it's time to load the desktop at which point it takes its sweet time.

In addition since updating my drivers the display will sometimes crash and freeze until I reboot. Sound and programs continue to run in the background.

Initially I thought it was shit RAM and swapped that out. Now I'm suspecting shit HDD as it's 5-6 years old now.

Is it worth getting a new HDD and transferring data over or could a shit HDD not cause these kind of issues? Whatever the cause is it's relatively recent as the computer ran flawlessly for 5 or so years

Why not try Midori maybe? iirc it's still the lightweight champion but I may be wrong.
>>
>>58876444
Exactly. Now you won't end up using their shitty site. Solves the problem.
>>
>>58876470
yeah i thought that's what you were getting at
>>
>>58876097
Try another PSU.
Test your memory.
Test your hdd.
Reseat your cards.
Try your cards in a different machine.
Try a different card in this machine.
Try a linux live cd/usb stick.
>>
>>58876448
>>58876386
Nvm.
This might've been in the past, just tried Midori again after years and this fucker keeps crashing.

Any way to fix this or it's gg for my hard drive?

Can I just clone everything into an SSD? I have a fresh W7 install anyway.
>>
>>58876097
I had that same problem for some time before my GPU died. Try testing another GPU if you have, or take it out and try integrated graphics if you can.

My adblock started leaking youtube ads, anyone know what I have to block to block the ads?
>>
>>58876515
Use crystaldiskinfo to get a reccomendation, but you're probably boned. Why would you want to clone if you just did a fresh install anyway?

You uninstall adblock and install ublock origins.
>>
>>58876427
Alright, I captured 5 packets using tcpdump. Interesting, but it looks like gibberish to me (Flags, ack, seq, etc). Am I supposed to do something with them?
>>
>>58876549
Because dealing with windows update on a fresh W7 install and all the drivers is a headache.
>>
Is it still possible to change Windows 10's theme? Not only color, the taskbar, windows, etc.
If possible something that doesn't take to too much ressources.

I have the Intel Corporation DX58SO (J1PR) motherboard currently and an i7 920 in it.
I was wondering today, why the hell does this board support DDR3 1600 when none of the processors that the board supports has a memory controller capable of that speed?
>>
>>58876567
Not really
http://pastebin.com/quC0gz4j

but you can clone if you want to. Macrium does a good job. I would run an sfc /scannow when you're done cloning to help catch any windows system files the HDD might have fucked up. Then rerun the windows experience index to detect the drive change
>>
>>58876552
What happens if I leave adblock installed and install ublock origins too?
>>
>>58876599
You're going over the same lists twice and wasting a ton of resources.
>>
>>58876599
you waste RAM and get lag when opening pages
just fucking uninstall adblock
>>
Okay, so someone near me is selling a 15" 2011 i7 mbp for $200 with a wireless mouse and a leather case that protects the body of the laptop...

Obviously this is a good deal, if it works (which I'll inspect thoroughly before they get a damn penny), but is there a way to tell quickly if a Mac is stolen? Like if someone stole it, wiped it and did a fresh OSX install, would i be able to tell if it's stolen while inspecting it? In my state, if you buy stolen goods unknowingly and the authorities seize them, you're out whatever you spent with no recourse besides hoping to get a restitution order added on if they take the thief to court
>>
>>58876566
Tell tcpdump to dump the contents of the packets as ascii text.

You should see HTTP.

tcpdump -A -s 65535 -i whatever_your_interface_is_called dst port 80

ok i use 2 languages on windows 10, i dont know why, but sometimes the keyboard type changes to some deafult english one. Im guessing its a key combination im pressing. i want my windows to be in english because reasons. How can i disable this key combo? it fucks me every time im coding "/" turns into "?" and its annoying as FUUUCK! Thanks in advance. pic not related.
>>
>>58876628
If you visit their house to inspect the computer then you can see if them having a mbp is a likely scenario.

You could also ask if they still have the box.

When you get the machine, log in to your iCloud account.
This (I think) prevents the mbp from being locked remotely if the seller changes their mind because they got a better offer.
>>
>>58876747
Disable the second language you dont want.

In 7 and 8.1 it takes about 2 clicks but because 10 went full retard good luck finding it in the control panel.

How this popups work?
What do they do?

uBlock Origin blocks them anyway but im still wondering.

RX470 or RX480?
Reviews of the 480 say it's better but reviews of the 470 say the 480 is not worth in comparison, this is really confusing...

Did I bork it?

>>
>>58876949
Why do you think your motherboard shorted?
>>
>>58876897
actually what i can currently afford is the RX460 which is much cheaper, i was thinking of saving for the 470 or 480.
>>
>>58876963
I don't know, it worked fine two days ago, then I tried to start it up yesterday and nothing happened. I did some tests and it all leads back to the board.
>>
>>58876993
Save for 470 then.

480 is worth it but if you never have money and get caught by the "buy it later or wait for the new ones" meme you will never buy anything.

I'm getting an uninterruptable power supply for my gaming PC.

What's the real difference between PMW Sinewave and Pure Sinewave? I get that the 'wave' is different, but what's that mean for my electronics?

Just built first desktop, it was a super budget computer so it only has a nvidia730 in it but I thought that it would be okay for browsing the web and Netflix. Since putting it all together I noticed the fan runs the entire time the computer is on. Is this normal? The chromebook I had before this didn't do that but now I'm in unfamiliar territory.

cpu is amd 6300
motherboard is GA-78LMT

Looking for a quiet and reliable HDD to store my Chinese cartoons. Is the WD Red a good choice? Like the ones with multiple platters? I know the whole "it's only for NAS use" thing, but if it's reliable enough for a NAS, it's reliable enough for me.

how to insert a null value into a table value?
I have to insert 2 values into a table, but it might be a null, also the first value cant be duplicate, and cant be null(that mart is fixed on the input level

I was using
INSERT INTO table1 (name, TypeName) SELECT ?,?
WHERE ((SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table1 WHERE name=?) = 0);
but the 2nd value ended up being null

then tried this

INSERT INTO `table1` (name, TypeName) values (blee, null)
Where NOT EXISTS name='stuff for value1'
LIMIT 1

but the where throws error

get gpu-z

check fan speeds

install manufacturer's utility for fan control if one exists

possible they're stuck on full blast all the time?

does this happen after you turn it on, and leave it idle? i.e. log into windows and don't do anything else
