I'm so close to selling this piece of shit and buying a Google Pixel. I swear to God. Took months for them to get their shit together. Said it would be released in March, but Google Pixel forced them to push it out faster. Now, I'm hearing that it's being halted.

What the fuck is going on? Yesterday, T-Mobile said the current version is Nougat and it's ready to go, but now it says Marshmallow is the current version. Guess they have to TouchJizz it up before it's ready to release.

Do not buy this shit phone. It's not worth it. Get a Pixel.

I think most of the social status stemmed from the fact that mid-range phones from renowned manufacturers (which is what most people buy instead of chink flagships) looked and felt like total crap until recently...I mean, look at the difference between the S5 Mini and the A3 (2017), which is its spiritual successor.

Don't know what to tell you. I suppose the Moto G4 Plus is alright. I wouldn't go for it personally. You don't need a fingerprint reader at that low of a price, frankly. 2 GB is plenty for a phone at that price range. Doubt you'd notice any issues.

I don't think you'll find anything useful for $100 more in it. They, I believe, run on the same processor anyways. Go for the Moto G4 base model.

Before my S7, I had a Galaxy Core Prime and I loved it. For a budget phone, I couldn't complain. They were practically giving them away at one point. They're not worth shit anymore. Seemed to be replaced by the J7, which is a great value in general, but yeah. Do NOT get a Galaxy Grand Prime. It has a massive battery drain issue and is overall MUCH shittier, somehow... Even though it's supposed to be a larger screen, NFC, and all that version of the Core.

Yeah, just go with the stock Moto G4 and save up money for a better phone in the future. Unless you don't care about fancy phones then just get the Plus right now and call it a day. Although I don't know why you'd do that if you don't care about phones...

Pixel is a fantastic phone too, but it's the iPhone of Android. Stock Android experience and just works. Even looks like an iPhone.

Get what you think will be best for you. Pixel will heavily benefit you if you subscribe to Google's ecosystem as you get unlimited Photos storage and exclusive features. Plus, the latest updates. And it flows much better than any other Android phone out there.

Android's full potential is realized when you tinker with it. Or else you should just go with iOS. Why not take advantage of the features? Pixel can be rooted and for MOST people it should be enough, but I don't know if it's ideal. You'll lose customization, but will get a pure Android experience and it will just work. With the OnePlus, you'll be able to do anything, but will lose out on the benefits of Pixel.

No removable battery when one of the N4's main draws was being able to put a 10k mAh battery on it for 10+ hours SoT of heavy use daily.

No IR blaster.

No SD slot, this completely kills any phone for me no matter the specs or other gimmicks, i won't consider it even if i got my dick sucked by purchasing one, now let's say you don't mind that and will just buy the 64/128GB one, good luck finding it cheaper than a brand new galaxy s7 edge and losing ALL your data if it ever shits the bed.

This may be a dumb question but a custom rom (crDroid) i use on my phone (G4 Play) recently updated to android 7.1.1, assuming i want to do a clean flash can i still use the 7.0 gapps or do i need to download the 7.1.1 ones and flash those? I might just give up on them altogether and go with a freetard alternative like f-droid and apktrack but i'm playing this one game that uses the google cloud for saves and newpipe is still horrible.

On the off chance someone is ordering a fairphone 2 here.

Don't go for the old case. It's completely flawed in design. The slim case is so much better. The old case is broken as fuck because the rubber part of it is oversized slightly and isn't properly adhered to the case. It puts tension around the buttons and will inevitably lift from the case leaving it ugly and less functional (pressing buttons raw is a mess). The plastic is not as robust as you'd want it for its design. It breaks very easily at the edges because there's no load balancing like you would have with cases that you find on normal phones. All the stress of the material goes to the edges or other irregularities like the button cutouts.

The slim case is great though. And it looks good. Another option worth considering is the 3d printed ones (https://forum.fairphone.com/t/fairphone-2-3d-printed-casings-available/11614/3) but only if you print yourself or have someone who knows what they're doing. I got a print for 5$ and because the person printing didn't cool it rapidly enough during the print it squished together slightly and leaves about a 2mm gap. It's functional still but ugly. Also probably a lot less water proof with what's effectively a hole at the back of the case leading straight to the battery.

Just FYI. That crowd is very lenient on the developers. So theres very limited negative feedback available. Though if you Google 'fairphone 2 case' Google suggests broken.
