Yeah, also taobao but I can't do chinese.

Shipping depends. Didn't have to pay taxes or stuff for mine, but it arrived after a month. Others had more luck and had it arriving within two weeks or so.

Uh, the app does have a few quirks and it's not 100% bug-free, but heck, it's cheap, ticks all boxes the pok3r RGB does and can do more. You do need an iOS/Android device to get their app. leddit has some useful links for updating the thing etc.

Enjoy! I'm certainly loving mine.

They did not come with legends. This was from the first set Tai Hao offered, they didn't have them at the time.

Didn't come with a 6x spacebar either, had to pick that up separate.
>>
>>58426912

Is the software required for RGB effects? I only want RGB because I like to backlight certain keys while I play games and I like to be able to pick from any color. I don't actually care about any rainbow wave effects or anything.
>>
>>58426982
Yeah, you need to set them via the app. Currently a custom setup doesn't get saved on the board so when you cycle through the modes you can't find your old preset back, but if you connect via bluetooth to your phone and use the keyboard over USB it should be settable quickly.

Really hope they are addressing this in an update.

MX Greens, Zealios, or MOD switches?

I like buckling springs just not the form factor, and need switches for a kit build.
>>
>>58430486
Do you prioritize smoothness or tactility? If the former, get feelios; the latter, get MODs (the difference is slight either way). For clicky switches get aristotles and put them in MX housings.
>>
>>58429009
Matias switches are super sloppy and the keycaps have a ton of wobble. I wanted to like them, but they blow ass and you can't re-use the keycaps on anything else. The quiet click tactile feedback and low audible noise is great, but the wobble ruins them.
>>
>>58430165
The "T" logo baffles me, same history with Razer. Their logos are so bad it stops me from buying their products.

Another option?
>>
>>58430486
Zealios are most similar to MX Clears, so I would buy them.
MX Greens are too heavy and clicky for a Topre user such as myself.
MOD might not be that bad but I don't need a huge amount of tactility.

If you have manly hands that bottom out everything, go with maxed out 78g zealios dark purps (tactile bump, no audible click)

Greens are tactile+click, still medium stiff.

Fuck MOD wobblers, all spring flavors are memeswitches
>>
>>58430638
Greens should be no less stiff than 78g zeals, just saiyan. They bottom out around 80g.
>>
>>58430603

Looking to buy a mechanical keyboard for gaming and I guess I type papers now and then. I read the guides and faqs and that is literally all I know about keyboards now

>Budget
No budget, would prefer to spend under $100 but I don't mind paying extra to be happy with something I use every day

>Location (continent at least)
USA

>Preferred switch type
I would like clicky, I'm using it for gaming. I read that black switches were good but they didn't really mention other switches that would be good for gaming too.

>Layout
I'm from USA so I think I want ANSI.

I was going to say get the ISO for the hell of it because that alt g key for all the symbols seems dope as fuck but I like having the long horizontal enter key over that crappy block. So ISO would be cool if I can still have enter be long and have the \ above it.

>Form factor
100%

>Backlight
Do LEDs last forever? They would be cool to have but I don't really need them, I just want something I don't have to replace.

>Previous/current keyboards

It's just preference. I hear some people say reds are bad for gaming because they're too mushy and make you inaccurate with keypresses, and I hear people praising reds for gaming because of how mushy they are

there is no such thing as a gaming switch
blues are light enough where double tapping isn't very difficult.

also you said you wanted
>I would like clicky,
which means you want blues, greens, or whites if you're staying in cherry's line

pretty conflicting f a m
>>
>>58431075
There's some big seller that has their own board. It has blues and the big ISO enter but a normal right shift. I'll reply when I find it, or maybe another anon knows
>>
>>58430035

Dude, that shit is just whack. Reconsider.
>>
>>58431120
If you want clicky, you want the switches that "aren't good for gaming". "Gaming switches" are linear and have no feedback.

I'm putting those in quotes because I bought a keyboard with blue switches even though the main point of my desktop is for gaming. I was waiting for a the $50 Corsair one on Amazon to come back in stock because it had red switches but just went with the Tomoko keyboard with blue switches instead.

Whether reds are better for gaming or not, I can't really comment on. One thing is for sure, blue switches are way better than membrane. For double tapping, you're still going to have to move the key less on a blue switch than on a membrane, I've found.

I wouldn't say it made gaming any better, but I do type a lot too, and it just feels so great. Like you can just lightly tap the keys and get that satisfying click to know the job is done instead of smashing a membrane keyboard.

Has anyone bought one? Any online reviews?
>>
>>58431159

Yeah mushy sounds terrible, my keys feel slightly mushy and I hate it.

>>58431169

Well I don't know I'm not an expert, I think it'll be fine though, I'll see what kind of keyboards my friends have and how they feel, they probably have blue too since I know they're clicky. I just read it was terrible but if it's okay to double tap then I'm not worried.

Now I'm looking around and looked at the shine ducky shine 5 and realized I like LEDs. I could probably spend days creating patterns and shit so that looks fun. What's the lifespan of LED keyboards? I can always just turn them off and have a regular keyboard if worst comes to worst right?

>>58431240

Yeah I'll just have to make that sacrifice I realized, I need to hear and know when I click a key instead of mashing things down.

LEDs won't last forever surely.

This is how the blue switch works. Basically, it will click when it inputs a letter. However, you can lift it back up and down without clicking and it will input again without clicking. In theory, you could double tap like that, but it would be really awkward. Your best bet for double tapping on a blue is to just lift your finger up all the way and press back down, making it click every time. Like I said, it's still better than membrane. For gaming, I find myself bottoming out the keys anyway, so it's sort of used like a more satisfying clicky membrane in that case I guess. But the typing is lighter taps compared to a membrane.

This is the keyboard I'm using, except I'm using the version without a numpad. You said you wanted 100% though. http://a.co/6OkKdKE

I'm sold on the blues, I also type a lot in game and with my crappy electronic one I have a hard time typing fast because I need to mash down the keys.

More reading into to it it seems like blues are great and there's a few "super h4rdcore gmerz" who keep their fingers mashed on the keys and like to barely let up and push down.

So I'm sold on the blue ones thank you all.

>>58431432
It might 'gimp itself' very quickly. I'm pretty sure Ducky and Corsair are both prone to this issue, but I wouldn't stray away from LEDs if it's what you want for this reason. What you read online is mostly company horror stories anyway.

Also it should be protected by warranted, and should not be a hard fix if you know how to solder.

>>58431455

Well my concern before about LED's is that I would get bored with the pattern, I figured they were stagnant but the Shine 5 from what I saw lets you change it in all sorts of ways which is really nice to me. Are there other keyboards that have that sort of customization?

And I don't know how to solder but I would learn if that's how I had to fix my keyboard.
>>
>>58431467
I honestly wish my theme was green now, the triforce looks sick
>>
>>58431432
Reds are allegedly better because it's "nicer to strafe" or something. But I think it really depends on what you want. I like a nice, loud ass click and something you can feel every time it's pressed. And really in the end, you'll probably be a lot happier with a keyboard that's way nicer to type on than a keyboard that may just be a little better for gaming.

>>58431455
Yeah, my post was a little fucky. It's hard to explain, there's that point between where it clicked and when it reset where you could technically jiggle your finger on it to input, but there's no feedback in that zone of the switch. But it's not awkward at all if you just let it go all the way up to reset. It sounds complicated if someone unfamiliar is reading but like I said, it's still less effort to double tap than a membrane in my experience.
>>
>>58431432
>Are these good?
These keyboards were designed to emulate the feel of typewriters so they are very loud and tactile. If that bothers you then you could pass and get something quieter. The build quality on those things is phenomenal. I don't think there is any other keyboard that can compete without resorting to spending $300+
>>
>>58431478
>Are there other keyboards that have that sort of customization?
Not that I know of that are fullsize in your price range.

If you want an RGB full size I wouldn't stray away from the DS5

>And I don't know how to solder but I would learn if that's how I had to fix my keyboard.
it is, but you'd also void your warranty that way

>>58431495
yep I remember that in between click/bottom out activation.
but even if you didn't want to do this, blues are light enough where I would think two full presses shouldn't really be an issue
>>
>>58431544

I see well I'd send it in if that's an option and still under warranty. Obviously if it's up then I wouldn't have another option.

Also what are these keycaps I keep seeing on the website? Are those important at all? I'm seeing different kinds but don't know what they are or if they should be a concern.
>>
is there anything heavier than cherry mx green? i started with blue and switched to green, cant go back now but i wanna use even heavier keys
>>
>>58431593
MX grey, MX super black. Super blacks bottom out at 150g iirc.
>>
>>58431585
I'm not really sure where your concern is coming from.

The Ducky Shine 5 comes with ABS keycaps that let light come through the legends. Most aftermarket keysets will not let any light through, so your RGB will just be underglow, under the keycaps
>>
>>58431593

Are multimedia keys really worth getting a shit keyboard? If you get a programmable board you can just have them on a layer.
If you want browns i would recommend not getting the cherry ones, gateron browns are both cheaper and better.

I thought about that, but I'd need a white one

Not sure what caps I should get for my HHKB.

Need a TKL

It seems like JUL would be the best, but I don't know what switches I want. I love clears, they're my absolute favorite, but it seems odd to have 2 board with the same switches. Also, I dunno how clears would actually feel with SA caps, so that's why I'm considering blacks, but I also don't because I was gonna get linear on my Golbat.

What do?

You have a point there, but the black case on the TADA is far less prominent that of the HHKB.

Guess I'll get some stems and try it out.

Just buy Leopold TKL. You will not regret.
>>
Thinking of getting another board. I have a Magicforce 68 with Gateron blues but it feels flimsy and lightweight with a not so great tinny noise to it when I type. I also have a Varmilo 68 with Cherry blues. Love it. Feels solid, rigid, and heavy like it's rooted to the desk. I like the blue switches fine, and despite using it in an open plan office I've had no complaints.

I want another keyboard but with different switches, for variety. Cherry clears are top of my list at the moment, but would consider the cherry tactile grey, or a wildcard suggestion like topre. Not interested in brown, blue, or linear switches.

I'm looking for a board 65% to TKL but the case and the board must feel solid and satisfying to type on.

Any suggestions? Or any manufacturers/models to avoid?

Hi guise!

What is your fav endgame in linear switches?
I need some new ideas.
Currently I'm on semi-vintage MX blacks 67g lubed, stickered.. or is that mostly it?

Also is there any way to make cherry stabilizers not feel like shit, my 7x spacebar on custom 60% has kind of a weird feel.

Or better yet, is there a 60% plate that supports costar stabilizers?

ALSO are there any new 60% PCBs/projects? I haven't been following the scene very much in the past year.

Mac intercepts F13/F14/F15 at the OS level and reinterprets them as the eject key and brightness keys. You can assign them to regular media keys if you modify the scankey table in the firmware and change them to the proper codes.

QUESTION:

Can I just replace my switches if they're mechanical? If so, is it hard?
>>
>>58437728
thanks doc
>>
>>58438070
most boards are smd with tracers and shit, some are through-hole especially vintage boards. a few really cheap chink boards have click-in switches but I think that's because they fail so often.
>>
>>58438070
If its PCB mount you can just open the switch and change it. If its plate mount you have to desolder the switches
>>
>>58438070
they do sell keyboards with hot-swappable switches on amazon for like 50 bucks
>>
>>58438244
there is a reason they are 'hot swappable'
>>
>>58438213
if I want to replace plate mounted switches, do I have to get switches meant for plate mounting? asking about zealios in specific since their plate mounted ones are milky and not transparent. would that interfere with the poker's rgb lighting?

You might drop lucky and find a Plank or MiniVan in the classified's that's already been imported.

Alternatively, Vortex is about to drop their 'Core' 40% board to the general market. There should be European distributors. Mechboard.co.uk should stock them, and I believe another European store is talking to Vortex too.

Alternatively, preorder from the States is gonna be around £150 to your door after shipping and fees :'(
