In hindsight, I feel like such a dumbass for not getting into sites like HDB and Bib when I had a simple chance. Like when HDB was recruiting from Teh, and all they wanted was 5 personal encodes. I started VAR magazine in the middle of June 2011 without experience or funding. I come from a family of artists, and, as an artist myself, I was and still am a fan of the art featured in fashion magazines. I didn't care much for the clothing itself as much as the photo’s value. I wanted to start a collection of photos and editorial content on those particular aspects. Miko Lim was a photographer who’s work I’d admired for quite some time.
