hey guys i've been out of the loop for awhile, but i need a new set of keycaps and i have a short list of requirements that i'm not sure exist, or they didn't a few years ago when i last bought my keycap set.

>pbt
>doubleshot
>cherry profile
>preferably rougher texture
>hopefully not $100

anyone have any suggestions?
>>
Anyone know when the TADA68 will be less than $135 again?
>>
>tfw i want 7 or 8 keysets but only 3 keyboards

I don't know what to do

>have 4 keysets laying around all the time

or

>have 7 keyboards of which I only use 3 all the time, with 4 not in use

or

>only have 3 keysets, missing out on what I really want
>>
>>58289088
Not doubleshot, but here:

https://www.keyclack.com/product-category/group-buys/mc-rebirth/

If you really want doubleshot, there are the vortex PBT doubleshots. The legends on some keys are off center, and it generally looks pretty meh.
>>
>>58289088
I can't tell you about the texture but these are on massdrop.

>>58289145
Just buy the keysets and change them out whenever you feel like it. No need to buy boards that you don't want.

Its a mediocre keyboard. There are worse options, but its not really all that good, especially for the price that you pay for it
>>
I'm almost ready to take the plunge on moving from a full-size to a TKL, the only thing stopping me is not knowing a reliable way to use alt keycodes on a TKL. What does /g/ use?

I always find those replies amusing. People genuinely think their overpriced gaming branded trash is good, and are willing to go to places like /mkg/, where people actually know what they're talking about in regards to keyboards, and still think they know best.

Sorry about the rant, but this shit happens so often it gets in my nerves. It's okay to admit you just didn't know better when you made your purchase.

Must be PS/2 and durable.

Essentially, I want to buy into the PS/2 meme so I want a durable board which would still have my favourite switch. Durability is a concern as my Blackwidow is developing keys with actuation problems at an alarming rate.

I just plugged it in and it worked. What are you wanting to change about it?

After a couple days I read the manual to change the Caps Lock, and realized switching the Caps Lock to be a second FN key is as simple as just switching one of the dip switches on the back.

I never use Caps Lock, so it's awesome to have a FN that I can easily use with either hand

The sound of a keyboard bottoming out is the loudest part about it.
You might consider MX Natural White or whatever if you want to go with Cherry but Matias boards are apparently pretty quiet, possibly quieter than most rubber dome boards.

Alright, I get not wanting or needing 10key. But can someone explain why you would want to remove the function row? Does your keyboard come with modifiers built in, or do you spend a bunch of time rebinding keys? Or do you all just only use your computer for facebook?
>>
>>58290669
You just did a great thing. You bought an American made mechanical keyboard. Not some chinese junk.

I have an ultra classic in black/grey. Once i get another ultra classic in white I will never need to buy another keyboard again, unless I find a real Model M for a deal.

I heard that it's as quiet as a normal rubber dome and the spacebar isn't even that loud, so it shouldn't be necessary.
But if you wanted to try putting rings on it that might not be possible because of the shape of alps stems, see pic related.
The rings are spherical but they might be able to stretch to the rectangular stems of an Alps board.
>>
>>58296682
You can make it more quiet buy removing the tactile leaf, but I think that's the best part of the switch
>>
>>58296725
You could also buy some of those quiet feet from 3m.
I bought some for my HHKB mostly so it doesn't slide as much but it might work a little for the Alps board.

Does the leaf even contribute more noise to the switch than the bottoming out?

>>
>>58297238
Browns aren't bad, but it's usually what people pick when they can't decide between linear and clicky switches, so instead of going with reds or blues, they go with browns, which don't feel as good as blues and aren't linear and fast like reds. They're just a boring in-between.
>>
>>58297238
you hardly feel the tactile feedback on browns, it's much more noticeable on clears

that said, clears is too stiff for some

if you try not to bottom out your fingers shouldn't get too tired
>>
>>58297288
I still don't think they're a bad choice if you game around half the time you spend on your computer
>>
>>58297300
Again, they're not bad, just boring. Either go all the way for a clicky switch or a linear one, or clears which aren't as bland as browns like other anons already said.
>>
>>58297292
Why not just get silent reds? I mean they are silent and fast? basically makes browns useless

>>58297338
cause the tactile feedback is what makes typing so satisfying

The only difference in feel is that the JP version feels heavier. I have not used 55g Topre but if I were to arbitrarily pick weights the normal HHKB would be 45g and the JP version would be at 50g. Not the biggest difference, but I *think* I notice it.

Greetech and even moreso Gateron browns feel better than cherry browns

Where can I get a board with an L-shaped enter key? I love the aesthetic.

>>
>>58303108
