It appears that these were attempted from the login form via the password reset tool. Users that began receiving these messages were members of NoStream when their database was leaked. It is likely that someone is using this leaked database to probe for accounts here.

Fortunately, at this time it does not appear that any accounts have been compromised. Users who notified us of the password reset did not have any nefarious activity on their accounts. It appears that the people using the leaked database simply attempted to reset the password.

However, because of this potential security threat we ask that anyone who was a member at NoStream when their database was leaked to change your email here at PTH if it is the same one. This will prevent further attempts to access your account. If you use a leaked email on other trackers, it is also wise to change your emails there too, as these same people may try and access your accounts on other trackers.

And finally, please make sure your PTH password is secure and unique. Do not re-use passwords on multiple trackers. 2FA is an approved suggestion and we hope to roll out that feature as soon as possible.

The mp3 scene has been full of absolute garbage since way before OiNK came around. This doesn't mean there's not a few bright spots there though. Where it shines is in pre retail releases of major albums, the groups that do those are still elite. Also in niche groups that specialize in esoteric things. Siteops want those guys around because they share the same taste in music. The group I led only released Drum & Bass and we usually wound up on the same sites as other groups that did as well for obvious reasons.

I also was a part of a group releasing xbox 360 games and it's boring as all fuck compared to mp3. When you're in a mp3 group and are chatting/sharing with people that share your taste in music there's few things that compare to it.

What's garbage to you or me could be a fucking diamond to somebody else though. That's why mp3 scene is so tough compared to games or something. What's the criteria for a good console game release? It's properly dumped, runs fine... mp3 has so many things that could be wrong with it. Even if I bought it from a web shop the version of LAME they used to encode it could have a glitch that causes the tools people use to check encoders to report FhG instead which will catch me a nuke even though it's fine. Manually fixed many releases with hex editors due to this shit.

Then there are cases where the rules aren't strict enough. Some dickhead can grab 320k mp3s off soulseek and put http://www.beatport.com as the URL in the nfo, I could check the encoder version and be able to tell it's obviously not from beatport but that's not a valid reason for a nuke or a proper. Private trackers aren't really any better in this regard. Any old mp3s are fine as long as they aren't transcodes. But what if they aren't the final mastered version and are instead some earlier versions the artist bounced from his DAW? Who cares.

I have done that before but there's not much difference other than I'd be forced to use V0 instead of releasing it as a 320. FLACs/WAVs are more expensive from some shops too and when you're already spending hundreds of dollars a month on music you need to draw the line somewhere. That's why I moved from buying music to trying to figure out ways to steal it from the mp3 stores for free. Those things dried up and I got out of the scene.

It's moved to just grabbing FLACs or MP3s from streaming services and releasing those now though. Both people in the scene and private trackers do it.

The person I fought with ended up banned later on anyway. The disconnect between staff and the top uploaders definitely hurt the tracker I think. The elitism fucked up things worse than anything. Anybody who has an interest in dnb or the other genres they allow should be able to be there. Nobody is better than anyone else just because they're in there. Most of the people with that attitude didn't actually upload or contribute anything useful to the community. The majority of the people I met that actually did had much better attitudes.

But yeah the staff let the situation deteriorate...
