I'm 40 years old and I just started C++. I was told that a good way to familiarize myself with C++ is to learn the complete Architecture of Microsoft Visual C++ 1994. I'm writing every page down hoping to familiarize myself with it. They said that for those who are older, learning comes through repition. Once you've copied something enough eventually your minds tries to understand what exactly it's doing and that would make learning the basics even easier. His or her words were, Repetition breathes professionalism. I thought they were trolling but then they used the analogy of an artist or a singer, a runner, a basketball player and so on. Through repeating what is seen, eventually, you become subconsciously good at it so that the conscious mind is better able to grasp the fundamentals when the time's right.

Compared to what? Compared to Ruby, it's harder. Compared to C++? Probably on par.
> can it help me get good within two years?
It will make you a better programmer, for sure. It depends on what your end goal is.
What's the problem with templates?
