Its a pretty cool case, and it definitely sounds like a neat project, but unfortunately I don't know if I'll be able to be of much help. I don't know movement dimensions off the top of my head, but my advice would be to find a bunch of movements that fit the general size and then start looking at specific things like the distance between the stem and the dial. You're gonna have the find something pretty specific, and then you'll still most likely have to make some kind of movement ring. It won't be easy, but you can make something really cool.

How do I test brand new diver watches for water resistance, so that I can return ones that fail the test?

Also, is it good practice to coat rubber gaskets with silicone lube on non-diver watches that have lower water resistance ratings, for a bit of extra protection against water intrusion?

>What's the difference between the square Amphibias like this and completely round ones?

The only difference is the case shape, the cushion style one aka case 710 aka "ministry case" is a bit bigger and a bit heavier than the round 420 case.
The dial size is the same though.

Most knowers will agree on the 710 being the best case, since it's one of the less boring ones and has that 70's look to it.
Maybe you just don't like it's vintage look or you are just a normie who wants to replace his old Fossil watch.
Cushion cases are very aesthetic.

cheap quartz movements usually aren't powerful enough to move heavy hands (which is why a lot of quartz fashion watches have tiny hands on huge dials).

Most of the vintage ines are chrome plates brass and are too shiny, gaudy and peel off. Exceptions are modern reissues and military issued Sturmanskie 31659. I owned this two and sold them but I'd et another one as soon as I hunt a very good deal on eBay.

I personally have more respect for Russian than for chink watches due to their superior original designs, history, reliability and craftmanship. Fuck Seagull and China.

Bottom line, if you're buying watches based on what other people want to see you wearing, rather than what you want to see you wearing, you're a cuck.

>Bottom line, if you're buying watches based on what other people want to see you wearing, rather than what you want to see you wearing, you're a cuck.

Yeah this is pretty accurate. Unless for some reason your place of work BANS you from wearing a certain watch which I cannot for the life of me see happening unless it is a sanitary concern (food service), wear what you want because you like it and you can appreaciate a solid time piece. Just yesterday someone I knew bought a fossil because he wanted others to think he was cool. Ultimate cuck mode

Hello watchfags! Today I am rocking my Hamilton with Hirsch carbon strap! What do you think?
>>
>>57401014

I think you're pretty gay!

Not my styleeee. Strap doesn't go with the watch.
>>
Nice looking watches with red/black bezels like the Gmt master under 1k britbucks?
Looking at the Steinhart Ocean 1 and the Seiko Srp789 atm
>>
>>57401053
The original strap was Orange but i couldn't find one similar, i bought Brown nato leather strap for it but it hasn't arrived yet! Sorry for the faggot thing, seems that here insulting others is the way to catch attention! What styke do you like?

I have read the guide but it doesn't help much.

I don't even think orange would go with that watch. I like the ol' diver-but-itll-never-see-water styleeee. A nice, brown leather strap would go a long way.

I have no regard for these shitposters. I have a Steinheart Ocean GMT with ceramic bezel. It took a while for me to get the watch to sit comfortably because the bracelet clasp is weird. I'd also buy a blue Aevig Huldra, probably will at some point.

(Warning:opinion) better aesthetics

Non-date suits that watch better anyway.
>>
I've got a real fucking dumb question. Since daylight savings ended, my watches are now an hour ahead. Is it ok to wind them backwards? Quartz and mechnicals
>>
>>57412097
Fine, unless you have an original Accutron.

they're cities
>>

It's cities of the world like with any other world time watch. Only here a lot of the cities on the eastern hemisphere are in the Soviet Union, like Saratov, Vladivostok, Tashkent, etc.

My collection, if you could call it that.

One of them is leather. I've noticed that it's hard to match brown leather with regular office attire.
>>
>>57412910
you can buy any watch and very easily put it on a leather strap after the fact. don't buy a watch for its strap.

Would a metal strap look retarded on this? I want a metal band but it's easier to judge quality on a NATO. I was hoping someone had a photo. Open ideas to mesh or link.
>>
>>57413063

Your collection looks pretty much complete. Well done. Quality >>> quantity.
>>
>>57413319
Please don't insult the casio by putting it on leather
>>
>>57413063
Add a seamaster pro in Blue and you're pretty much set.
Maybe a dress watch too.

Where can i find a similar NATO strap with this linen material that doesn't cost 100 dollars. I want a nato strap that is up scale, can get wet, and isn't the standard nylon fabric you see everywhere.

Looks best on a nato imho, there may be an oem bracelet from a different Casio that would fit. You'd have to do a bit of research.

yeah i like it alot, i have to re adjust it here this weekend but its very comfortable. Doesnt pinch hair or anything.

The titanium case and bracelet is great as you get a metal watch that doesnt feel like it weight wise.

my moderno came with a stainless steel band which is well made, but the weight difference between them is just amazing

i suppose ill find a steel watch i love one day, but the casio feels like my other wates.

got the mako to replace my timex
>>
>>57414460
You could have spent like 20 bucks more and bought a mako II with the better movement

i coulda bought an invicta or some shit

Don't go that far. The old mako is a little lacking but it's still a good watch. The invicta sub is just trash

How accurate are your watches? The most accurate, the least accurate, and the accuracy of ur beater.

I'll start:

Least accurate +15s/day

Most: -1s/day

My daily Seiko beater: +7s/day

>>57414706
What is it? Ive only seen this op, but ive been here for 2 monthes so...
