Need some major help, /sqt/. I can't tell if my D850 LG G3 is saveable or is hard-bricked.

I planned to install CM 13 on it. Rooted it with KingRoot, flashed "Download Mode" to fastboot and got TWRP ready. A problem arose; at the top-right I got a boot vertification error.

Apparently the TWRP version I downloaded was mismatched. However, I ignored this since it was just the recovery image, and decided to go the easy route and use LGFlashTool. Didn't realize you needed to keep the original boot image, so I initially went through the steps of erasing fastboot and restoring it with the original. The thing is...the original image is located in the internal storage of the phone.

So I decided to find a similar boot image online and flash that on there. Bad idea.

My phone is definitely bricked, but I have access to fastboot. However, fastboot commands aren't working. It'll say "writing" recovery, but it'll freeze there and won't continue through... this happens with all the commands.
>>
>>57379585
cont.

So basically fastboot works but it also doesn't work. My phone is detected but the commands refuse to work at all both on GNU/Linux and Windows. I have a copy of the original boot image but I can't access it because the phone is bricked.

Is there anything I can do before doing anything physical to the hardware as a last result? I've been trying to solve this for the past day so far. I tried lurking Pajeet-developers for the solution, but people with the same problem as me are ignored.

The other day, under a lot of time pressure and desperation I plugged a friend's USB drive into my laptop (Windows 10, fully updated) in order to transfer a file to it. Lo and behold almost the moment it's plugged in Windows Defender instantly detects and removes a fucking worm off my shitty friend's drive.

https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/Encyclopedia/entry.aspx?Name=Win32%2FGamarue

So after unplugging the USB drive and PANICing for a bit I ended up finding and following a guide to disinfecting a PC
>run rkill.com
>run a full threat scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware both in normal mode and safe mode
>run Malwarebytes Junk Removal Tool
>run HitmanPro scan for good measure
>then run a full Windows Defender scan just for the hell of it.

All of which found nothing at all besides a couple of tracking cookies.

So having done all that, can I safely declare my laptop to have never been infected, or should I nuke Windows, do a clean install, and change all my passwords just to be certain?
>>
>>57379669
Depends on how much you really care.
You have compromised the system, the only professional solution is to nuke it from orbit.

Sounds like a hardware problem. Something seems to be interrupting the contact to the circuit. If cleaning it doesn't help I'd get a new mouse. The hardware of them can be quite finnicky.
>>
>>57381179
Well shit is there any way to avoid this in the future? I switched to wireless mouses because I was sick of the cords always getting frayed and giving me problems, I didn't think I'd still have to deal with this kind of shit with a wireless one.

And do you have any recommendations on how to clean it? It doesn't feel like it can be taken apart without destroying it.
>>
>>57381117
transcode it

with 2:16, and 16M size, the maximum average bitrate you can do is 941kbps

so,
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -c:v libx264 -b:v 800k -pass 1 output.mp4
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -c:v libx264 -b:v 800k -pass 2 output.mp4

>>
>>57381183
I've never had that specific problem, but on my current wireless mouse, my scroll wheel is stiff as fuck. I think it's a variation of your environment, your hands and the build quality of your mouse.

You could try blowing into it hard or using compressed air, or maybe there's a disassembly guide for your specific mouse. Good luck either way. They're very fiddly pieces of hardware.
>>
>>57381207

Thanks,..but what is the difference between the first command an tne sceond?..."pass 1" - "pass 2" ?

>>57381207
what's the difference between ffmpeg-acc library and libfdk-aac library?
>>
>>57381241
The built-in aac encoder is the worst aac encoder I've ever seen, not even transparent at 192kbps
libfdk-aac is one of the best quality
Two-pass encoding produces higher quality stream while keeping bitrate confined
>>
>>57381275
thanks, but I read on the guide this:

- pass n
Select the pass number (1 or 2). It is used to do two-pass video encoding. The statistics of the video are recorded in the first pass into a log file (see also the option -passlogfile), and in the second pass that log file is used to generate the video at the exact requested bitrate. On pass 1, you may just deactivate audio and set output to null, examples for Windows and Unix:

ffmpeg -i foo.mov -vcodec libxvid -pass 1 -an -f rawvideo -y NUL
ffmpeg -i foo.mov -vcodec libxvid -pass 1 -an -f rawvideo -y /dev/null

so the commands above are correct?...how can I use libfdk-acc instead of ffmpeg-acc ?
>>

Is it a waste of time to go through programming books without exercises and which only focus on syntax? I'm doing it for HTML/CSS and I'm bored out of my mind and remember little. I've already gone through actual programming / intro to CS tutorials.

Try CodeAccademy. That's how I learnt HTML/CSS. Highly recommend it. Gives you realtime exercises as it teaches you.
Different people learn in different ways though. I've found just tanking a textbook on C# was the best way to learn it for me. Try different stuff and see what you enjoy/what sticks.
So no, I wouldn't say going through programming books without exercises is useless at all. As long as you mess around with the stuff you're learning, it'll stick a lot more.

I've got a Supermicro X7DBU motherboard (old socket 771 server motherboard) that I just got off Ebay and I'm not sure how to get it started. Stupid question here. What's up with people using a HDD from one computer (has OS + their media) and popping in a new computer with vastly different hardware.

Would it still boot? Depending on AMD/Intel architecture obviously? What type of discrepancies will they face?

Gut instinct is that it wouldn't boot from that drive regardless of whether the new computer already has on OS on it. If there is a pre-existing OS, you'd be able to access all your old files as if the old HDD were a USB stick.

Push air in, it'll come out on its own. Try to find out which hole is used for GPU intake and put a fan on there to push as much fresh air in as possible.

But I doubt a single fan will make much of a difference. You'd get better results by dedusting it first and then replacing thermal paste if that doesn't help.

>Could be a heatsink too but it'd have to be
...very loose for processor to overheat that quickly. If it worked fine before and your friend hasnt done anything stupid I doubt heatsink is the culprit.

The way you test these things is by removing as many components as possible and then inserting them back one by one if the problem disappears. Remove every cable except power cord, try loaning your PSU to him, remove the video card, try different memory configurations as >>57384162 suggested et cetera.

the memes about linux and drivers are specifically relating to gpu drivers. i don't understand what makes them so fucking hard to install but linux makes it the most ass backwards shit. you might be installing the wrong driver for your device too. me for example, i tried installing amd drivers. it said on the page it supported my device, but once installed, instead of booting into my operating system, it showed a shitload of text that basically says "your device is too old for this driver!" with none else for my device. luckily opensource drivers are fantastic for amd but i just wish the closed source ones could be installed the fucking same

ubuntu-drivers has the non-free nvidia-367 driver set as the recommended driver and installed for my computer, even over the free nouveau driver. And I've not touched my repositories or sources on this install.

If you've got a terminal and internet connection you should try ubuntu-drivers list and ubuntu-drivers devices. It's already installed on your system. Those commands won't install anything immediately, just show what your current drivers are and if you have any applicable drivers available.

Consistency of resistance is what matters, in my opinion. For example, the "Microsoft Natural" was the most unnatural keyboard I've ever used. It used sliding plastic-on-plastic posts. Depending on which key you hit, resistance was light or EXTREMELY heavy. Hit a fat, single-post shift key off-center from the post and BAM ultra-high resistance.

That said, the Kinesis line is the greatest keyboard ever made.
>>
>>57387323
Kinesis is definitely a great keyboard, Mine has been on the shelf waiting for a good cleaning for a while, I've been using a unicomp buckling spring instead in its place which is almost just as good. Kinesis should make an advantage with buckling springs.

Nah. Less finger fatigue, better build quality, durability.

If you touch type, mechanicals are worth it. If you use one finger from each hand to type, not even worth it.

Corsair has non standard layout, meaning there are no third party keycaps that will support that board. Get a cooler master for your first mech unless you've tried the switches.

My rooted galaxy s6, SM-G920R4, gives me a bootloop error about a frp lock. What do I do?
If I have to redo the whole phone through like a reset, is there a way I can at least get all my stuff off of the phone first? Also, if I do end up having to go back to stock, will I have to fuck with any of the phone side of it, like will I have to have my carrier do anything to get that part working?
I'm pretty stupid when it comes to Android, especially on the s6, so I'm wondering, what do I do to stop the error, and is there any way to get rid of the error without resetting the whole thing?
>>

You've clearly never used a mechanical then, or you bought corsair and got burned after a month when shit stopped working.
If you're only purpose in life is to shitpost on 4chan, then sure it isnt worth it. But having a career that requires you at the keyboard all day every day pushing 10m characters a day, it makes a huge fucking difference.

Finger fatigue due to lower resistance feels cozy as fuck.

I'm debating finally upgrading to Windows 10. Two things absolutely killed Win 10 for me:

1) A bizarre bug related to my Creative X-Fi USB "sound card". UAC audio notifications would go to max volume every single time. After every reboot, I'd have to open the volume mixer, adjust the UAC prompt volume, then *leave the mixer open* so that the change would stay in effect. It was a bizarre bug and I have no idea if it was ever fixed.

2) They made all the title bars (active AND inactive) the same color. This was unbelievably aggravating for me. I use a big-ass monitor and often have a second monitor. I want to know the active window from a glance. They made this godawful change in one of the Release Candidates.

think of it in comparison to windows, where it is more customizable. distros are built around systemd so it isn't easy to take out after its in because it becomes a dependency for a lot of shit to run, and it does a lot more than just a standard init system. but its technically possible, just a lot easier to just use a distro or bsd which doesn't have it. most people were memeing against systemd though, they don't really care enough to remove it

In C can I open varying pages on a website with a single command/function/etc in someway?
Like if I have http://www.test.com/12345 and later http://www.test.com/54321

I would need something like
ShellExecute(NULL, "open", "http://www.test.com/12345", NULL, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL,);
Where I can replace "12345" with an int.

Some other way without using the winapi then?
Like using

but reading in the "12345" from a variable.

Why am I having so much trouble managing my boot drive under Windows 10?
I tried to mirror my SSD to a new SSD, all the files copied over perfectly, but when I try to boot from the new drive it won't.
Trying to dual boot broke my shit too.
I've never owned any UEFI devices until very recently so I'm used to being able to easily fuck with partitions on my boot drive and have no issues.

Which one would be better for downloading torrents: A seedbox, or a VPN? I'd just download some torrents from time to time without wanting to get DMCA notices (Already got one)

Sugestions welcome.

Seedboxes are for maintaining ratios on private trackers. You don't need it for riffraff sites or properly managed private trackers. So the cheaper option is best.

Guys, can someone fix VBScript syntax for me ? God damm, I cant put path in qoutes.

This is CMD syntax, it works fine:
SchTasks /Create /F /SC DAILY /TN "Test Task" /TR "wscript \"%APPDATA%\test.vbs"\" /ST 00:00

When I do this (VBS):
objWShell.Run "SchTasks /Create /F /SC DAILY /TN ""Test Task"" /TR ""wscript %APPDATA%\test.vbs"" /ST 00:00", 0

It adds Schtask perfectly fine but I also need qoutes around %APPDATA%\test.vbs because if PC name is John Cena it will not execute because of spaces. I tried to add quotes in every place i can, but i always get an error.

delete syswow64, it's the system windows online watchdog 64 bit version that keeps the activation in check, without it, you just need to make a new offline account and you can log in without activating

you might need to delete it while windows isn't running because of the anti-consumer protection

Post screenshot and learn what each value means. Increasing reallocated sector count means failure imminent and it should be shut down immediately to plan for backups which should already have been done because one digital copy = zero stable copies.

Been having a problem with our internet lately, it's a wireless provider because they're the only one we can get (Adam WiMax in Australia) and for the last 4-5 days or so our internet hasn't been able to go faster than 130KBps.

We're going to get a guy out to check the box to make sure that's working and still facing the right direction, but recently straight across the road from our house, they've put up two giant sheds. Higher than a two story house, fairly long and wide, and I'm pretty sure they've just got all the wiring done inside.

Is it possible that with the electricity going as high as the roof in those sheds for lighting, fans, and whatever other shit is ruining our connection?
