So, what's a better deal, the RX 480 or Fury?

I'm going to be using a few monitors, but does four extra GB of RAM really matter?

I'm building a PC, I have the processor and RAM mounted and I want to do a POST test. PSU's connected and everything. Only problem is, I'm not sure which pins to lay my screwdriver across. The manual (pic related) only shows one power button instead of two.

What do I do?

By the way, a fury is going for cheap on Newegg right now, check it out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202186&cm_re=amd_fury-_-14-202-186-_-Product

Also, for whichever one is superior in price/performance, which one is the best one to get?

Or should I just get a 470 if I'm looking for price/performance?

How do you deal with dead pixels? There's not enough to get the panel replaced under the manufacturer's policy, and the repair shop wants $500 for parts + labor. I've tried the online tools and no dice, and I don't know about the ebay listings for the replacement panels.

How can you tell if the panels you find on ebay are legit or not? I never shop there since I'm always afraid of getting chinkshit. The sellers say that they ship from the USA, and they get good ratings. but there's no reviews on the individual listings themselves.

To answer, no it won't, but you might prefer to install your programs directly on linux or using playonlinux (use wine but with custom install script to makes the program works). It will be easier to install and remove your programs and won't modify the performances.

If you're using the same subnet for hosts connecting through R2 as R1, that's the most likely cause of packet loss. Think about how routers determine the next hop compared to switches and you should find a number of reasons why that won't work very well. If you want to use R2 in routing mode, it needs its own subnet.

Not sure what you mean hear. I used the love usb to delete my ubuntu partition, reformat, and install windows 7. So I would assume that I did. From what I've read, grub has a tendancy to stick around when reverting from ubuntu to windows.

There is the problem. Yes, bootrec will solve your problem, it will cripple grub to boot only windows, but you didn't format the whole SSD, then. I would recommend you connect the SSD to some computer as slave and format it like you would a USB drive.

I understand your concern, but I feel there must be a grub partition that hides somewhere you didn't format. To get rid of it, do the bootrec.exe trick, it worked for me. Maybe the old grub is still there, but that's not so much of a problem for me (I already have another linux distro, so grub is inside here regardless). That's the problem, you may not have removed the grub partition.

Bluetooth headphones cost around 30-80 euros, however Radio-based wireless headphones cost around 10 euro.

Can my phone be made to emit radio frequency such that one of these headphones can pick it up? I understand that the range of the headphones is proportional to the power consumption, but I assume it can bridge the 50cm gap between me and my phone?

Same issue.
Also the subtitle is fine.
Because when I play the orginal file with the srt sub, it shows the subtitle.
The issue is probably a dropped frame because the subtitle line shows for less than a second.
And by increase the time it shows flawlessly.
But I want that subtitle line to show without dropping frames.

Hey
I'm having trouble installing Windows 7 on my new custom PC. (The Rufus/Daz Loader way)
It keeps saying drivers or cd is missing and I've tried all the different fixes it feels like.

Can you simply not install windows 7 from a USB 3.0?

So my state's shitty electrical utility has the annoying habit of tiny brownouts during inclement weather. The lights dim for a split second. It's not even enough to make my alarm clock start flashing 12:00, but it's enough to reboot my desktop. The power never actually goes out and stays out, it just hiccups.

Is there any kind of surge suppressor or power conditioner that can fix this, or must I buy a UPS? I'd prefer if I didn't have to buy a UPS, because I need approximately two seconds of runtime without mains power, so it's rather a waste having fifteen minutes worth of batteries.

Yeah, sysadmins a pretty neat job.

My friend works in a telecomms company and he actually automated a bunch of stuff to give himself loads of free time.
He thought it would be great since algorithms do most of his work for him, unless something shits the bed and he needs to actually deal with it hands-on.

He now gets so bored he deliberately fucks with clients just to give him something to do besides shitposting on here or mumble.

if you find a good small-mid sized company that will always have demand, you can probably live off that job for life.
Might not be the absolute best of the best paid jobs, but it will be stable as fuck.

you're going to find bad teachers at any university you go to. Better universities should have fewer of them, but they will always be there. Especially in low-level intro courses. That's the shit work of teaching at a university.

Python is apparently getting common, but there's still a zillion and one schools that teach intro programming in Java. Java has its flaws but for the purposes of an intro-level programming class, it's fine. Once you've learned the basics you can then pick up whatever language might be more appropriate to the task you're doing, anyway.

The only red flag I see here is your thinking that these are red flags.

Well you can get her an SSD, if she doesn't have one, and clone her drive onto it.

But really most of the weight of Ubuntu or any desktop Linux is in the desktop environment. The people who run Linux on old Pentium 2s and crap get acceptable performance by either using something very light indeed like i3, or by not running a desktop environment at all. Saves an awful lot of memory and CPU cycles to not need X running. Neither of these options are suitable for normies. So if she's not willing to use something lighter than Unity, you're pretty much stuck. Show her Xfce or something and see what she thinks.

A device is designed to use a certain number of lanes, and to be able to handle communicating on those lanes at a certain speed. The lanes aren't fungible, you can't just mix-and-match them any which way to get a particular bandwidth number.

What PCI-E 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 have done is make the lanes able to be used at a higher speed. That doesn't change the number of lanes a particular device is able to use, or the speed at which it is able to send or receive data on them. So no, newer PCI-E revisions give you compatibility - your PCI-E 2.0 devices will work fine on your PCI-E 3.0 motherboard, but for them to give you any speed increase, you need to buy new devices.

>>57357616

Some versions just accept that they won't be able to test the few dozen kilobytes taken up by memtest itself, but I think most are clever enough to move themselves around in memory to some place that isn't currently being tested.

You can pull tricks like that when you're writing assembly on bare metal without an OS in your way.

I wouldn't say retarded, but you are giving up quite a bit for "ooh, tiny!". Linux will work fine on it, but you don't have many ports and you're stuck with slow, low-power, dual-core CPUs. Which you might think twice about while waiting for a kernel compile or something.

Yeah, that is the deal with C++, and has been for a long time. It's a huge, sprawling mess and nobody can really keep all of it in their head. Most projects using it limit themselves to whatever subset of its innumerable features are most helpful to their particular problem, and don't use the rest - or disallow them in their style guidelines.

If you're writing your own project, yes, I'd think carefully about why you would choose C++ over C.

That probably is what they're looking for. I'm assuming you're being given hex numbers in a string and have to output a string with the same number in binary. Other than cheating and using some standard-library facility to do this (eg, scanf to convert the hex to an int, and then printf to output that int, specifying a binary representation) yes, you can just take each hex digit and output four binary bits based on which of the digits it is. There's no shame in using a lookup table. It's simple, easy to write, easy to understand, and fast (since a small lookup table can fit in cache easily)

because all modern browsers are horrible, since the modern web is horrible. Javascript was a mistake. A big one.

You can customize Adblock but if you want to do that you really should be using uBlock Origin instead. Since it's even more customizable, faster, and not made by a company that takes money to let ads through their ad blocker.

To anyone who may be experiencing this problem, I was correct. bootrec.exe /fixboot is all you have to do. The other commands do nothing other than locate whether or not you have a valid windows partition. I'm back up and running.

It isn't a programming exercise, it's written coursework. I have to write the explanation of how to do it on paper/in theory.

If you're one of those fags that has eight hundred tabs open, knock that shit off and use bookmarks. If you're using addons, try disabling them one by one to see if one of them is leaking memory. Restart it if it gets sluggish.

How do you tell if your USB cable is dead?

I have an external hard drive enclosure. It works fine with the short cord that came with it.

I bought a 9 foot usb cable, it worked once. Halfway through a file transfer it locked up. It drops connection and shit. I thought my enclosure died.

I went back and the original cable works fine. So does that mean my brand new cable is shit?
Its an Amazon Basics cable

if you watch the whole video the bandwidth usage is the same. If you don't, youtube uses less bandwidth since it (famously) now tries to buffer as little as possible at the very last moment.

if you watch the whole thing, yes, exactly the same amount of bandwidth

the only difference is what you do with the data after downloading.

not really, nothing should be plugged into live power when doing that
