I'm making my own night vision system. I've ordered all the parts from DX. It consists of these parts:

This is where it went partially wrong, the backup camera mirrors the image so it's virtually useless for a NVG system. I of course didn't even think about that when ordering. But the good thing is, everything works, I connected them all to 12V power and I get picture.

The concept is this: I have the screen mounted in front of my eyes with a mobile phone VR headset. An IR sensitive camera feeds picture to the screen and mounted on top is an IR light. I see everything but to human eyes I'm invisible. Originally I bought a google cardboard vr kit and some ultra shit phone from DX but the phone camera, despite having no IR filter, doesn't pick up IR light as well as I'd hope. That plan was then discarded, but after some research I found out parking cameras are IR sensitive and I got the kit for little money. The concept works, it would be useable if I could bother soldering the camera a bit. But I figured it's easier to just buy a new one.

So that's what I did, I bought a new one, this time it's meant for home surveillance. Should not mirror, but it's still sensitive to IR light.

They're about the same, you won't notice the difference in raw speed. The 3GB RAM of R3P is the major difference and I'd get it.

Note 3 is better in everything compared to the Redmi. Better screen, camera, more extras. Go for the Note if you have the money for it.
