Nope, Android has come a long way since Froyo.

It is but you don't need the latest Android to feel how blistering fast Android is. As long as you at least have Android Lollipop then you will have a pretty fast phone assuming you also have a snapdragon 410 and 2GB of RAM MINIMUM.

However the stock app launcher on most phones fucking blow. You should install Nova (from the play store), set the animation and scroll speed to "faster than light" which will remove lag that can be caused by a shitty default app launcher (ie Samshit).

In addition Android has fancy animations that you can speed up or slow down in the developer menu. 0.5 is usually ideal though you can shut them off completely for the fastest performance possible if you want.

I use both a Cubot Dinosaur 5.5" and a Huawei y360 4" depending on what I wear and do. Sometimes a 5.5" is just a but big if I just want to lusten to music or something like that. The y360 has 0.5GB RAM and is a bit slow. I have looked and looked for a good small phone to replace it but I can't find any.

Yes they are, but just the android system takes almost 1 GB so you wont have apps stored in cache for long unless you stick to 3 at a time, social apps and games/emulators will also lag like a motherfucker unless its a 2.0 ghz quadcore or something.

The bare minimum for a good experience is 3 GB, 4 is ideal and more than that means you wont have to replace it for the next 5 years or so, depending on how popular your device is and/or if you can remove the battery.

I used to own a 5c before I switched to a droid turbo. The battery was awful and would be down to around 50% in 8 hours. Now with my droid turbo I get down to about 70% in that time, though before Lollipop it was much better.

Is this good battery life? Some random fucking thing kept it awake for some hours, hence the system screenshot, and I rebooted the phone a few times doing stuff as well. Not listed is that I listened to a bit of music through bluetooth. Whattsapp was used for calls and as you can see I'm in an area with extremely poor signal.

If I were to use it nonstop like browsing the intertubes I'd get 9+- hours of SOC.

So my dad came up to me and tells me today that he wants to finally get a decent smartphone. The only carrier where he works is verizon. I have a galaxy note 4 verizon that I will probably give to him. But I need the following in a replacement:
- microsd preferred, or at least 64gb of internal storage
- removable battery preferred but not necessary
- unlocked bootloader
- usable across all major US carriers. I will likely settle with at&t or Google fi, service permitting
- it must be large. ideally bigger than note 4.
- it needs a good front camera.
- the battery should give me at least 6 hours SOT if it can't be replaced easily.

Should I bother switching phones? The note 4 seems the only one which has all of these...except it doesn't easily work on all carriers (not all GSM bands supported afaik) so I'm eyeing a nexus 6p but even that is very lacking...I honestly don't give a damn about most hardware. Should I just get another note 4 instead? They're fucking cheap.
