Is it OK to connect my speakers to my headphone amp/dac unit?

So essentially my speakers amplify the signals from my headphone amp/dac combo.

This configuration allows me to play my speakers and headphones in parallel amplifying the same signal.

I am wondering most of all if it degrades the sound quality in anyway? Or if its supposed to? I dont think it does and have not heard a difference.. pic related

Couldnt find shit on the internet, only something bout double amping and think thats something else

I am trying to find a good pair of wireless headphones for an okay price. I know, I know, wireless. I just really dislike dealing with a cord.

I had Sennheiser 180s but they won't sync for me anymore. I was looking at a couple of pairs at my local best buy. There's a 150 maple buck pair of Sony headphones but I honestly don't know how to trust or believe reviews.

Any review I look at, for even with headphones, a lot of people will complain about sound quality and a lot of people will say sound quality is great.

These were the ones I was looking at specifically. Was wondering if g had an opinion.

Foam is more comfy and damps the canal resonances. slightly. Also easier to get a proper seal for me. Frost dildos are alright but I prefer foam over them, even if these need to be changed from time to time.

>>56500499
Yes had it a few days prior to launch and it's amazing. Don't take my word for it though, some measurements:

https://www.seeko.co.kr/zboard4/zboard.php?id=m_device&no=52

Only phone so far which doesn't hiss with multi-BA IEMs and it has a respectable output power, too.

>>56500424
The "usual", Objective2 or Magni 2. HD 650 is a relatively simple load past the lower than average sensitivity. Doesn't take anything fancy to drive it and my advice is to hold off the purchase of an amplifier unless you need it. If you just want to get one regardless there are plenty of options. I've driven my HD 650s with a smartphone and tablet just fine.

I was looking at two pairs of headphones recently, the sennheiser hd598 and the Beyerdynamic dt 880. I was looking for a neutral-ish tone but prefer bass over treble. I read that the senns were bad for EDM which is what I mainly listen to (plus some metal and rap). I'm currently leaning towards these cans but was wondering if the bass is enough and how the beyers performed comparatively. I'm also am looking for a big soundstage. For that reason I'm looking mainly at open but don't really care. What does /g/ think ? (Budget is 200€)

most of your music is probably 16/44.1 so you should go with that.
the rest of your music will simply get downsampled and shouldn't sound any different.
>>
>>56502383
This is right. Ideally your player could use WASAPI or something similar and avoid the Windows mixer and output bit-exact but most sources are 16/44.1kHz so that is the reasonable choice. The increased dynamic range of 24-bit and higher sampling rates are essentially useless for playback but probably won't hurt anything either.

Sorry not sure what you mean by monitor amp. They do have one amp that can power speakers but it's their most expensive one. A few of their others have pre-outs for controlling a set of connected powered speakers though. The Magni 2 Uber, Asgard 2, and Jotenheim can all be configured with (or always include) pre-outs. Maybe the tube amps can too, haven't checked.

Not particularly. Left in isolation, "permanent" magnets can retain most strength for centuries and longer. Magnetic domains are quite stable if you minimize externally applied fields, temperature, and impacts/vibration.

For headphones, sharp impacts could scramble magnetic domains, but the magnetization of standard Neo magnets are quite stable under shock. Structural failure: physically breaking apart the magnet or the headphone frame would be more pressing concerns.

So I just ordered a V Moda BoomPro mic because I was tired of my piece of shit Turtle Beach headset that fell apart within a year of use.

I have V Moda Crossfade LP headphones that I can use with the mic, but I am really interested in trying a quality set of open cans. Any recommendations for entry level studio quality open headphones that are compatible with a V Moda BoomPro mic (any detachable standard 3.5mm audio cable will be compatible so long as it's not super recessed)?

I've been looking at a few, but they all had problems for one reason or another:

>AKG K240 (detachable cable, but the plug on the cans is some niche shit I've never seen)
>Beyerdynamic DT990 (cable isn't detachable, 32 ohm version is expensive)
>Sennheiser HD 558 (can't remember if this is compatible, but reviews said they have a relatively weak bass. Idk if that'll make me that them. My Crossfades are bass heavy)
>AKG K701 (someone told me these were compatible, but they're a little pricey at $200. I'd like to stay around 100-125)

Gotta be around-ear, under 100 Ohms because fuck buying an amp, and bonus points for velvet or felt ear pass (i can replace this part after market for cheap anyway)

Can anyone with speakers tell me if this song makes your speakers go boomy at medium and high volumes? Even low volume it is not the tightest as nicest bass in this song especially.

I dont know if it is time to get rid of my bass centric wharfedale diamond 121s or if its the recording that had too much overpowering bass.

If you have spotify please go to 3:10 of Famine - Opeth

Or if you dont have spotify go to youtube it probably should answer the question.

I have to say. Apple releasing as their first product wireless earbuds was the along with the rest of the retarded design decision Apple has been making of late. What retard decided it was smart to make the first mobile audio device earbuds rather than IEMs? Did they limit testing to Starbucks? That's the only environment I can imagine that the isolation from IEMs is not required for mobile audio.

Also the Philips have very little clamping force which make them comfortable to wear for long periods but they keep sliding off too goddamned often.

Just came back from auditioning the ER4SR and XR and, basically, they are fucking perfect. Just my personal impressions using rubber tips.

These are the first Ety's I have tried and I expected them to be bright, harsh even, especially since I am coming from the SE535 but surprisingly, they aren't. The bass presentation was amazing, not muddy or boomy in any way, even for the XR. Everything just sounded so "correct" if that makes sense.
The only gripe I have is the cable. It is a good cable but it's quite microphonic.

Overall, I prefer the SR and will eventually pick it up.
>>
>>56509391
Well if you managed to get them for $60 then fair enough. Personally I wouldn't use an open back for /out/, closed full sized over ear is what I would roll with.

I don't like IEMs, not very good at taking care of them they always end up getting fucked at the jack due to fatigue (walking with phone in pocket bending cord cyclically). But IEMs are ideal for outdoor use if you could find a comfortable pair since they can offer good isolation and are quite compact, could easily fit in your pocket.

Funnily enough I am not happy with my closed pair for outdoor use, I use MSR7 when out and about, but its passive isolation is not good at lower frequencies. That fact paired with a bright FR is horrible for outdoor use as most of the noise lies within the lower frequency regions.

If you raise the volume to compensate they can easily become fatiguing unless you EQ the ever loving shit out of them.

Upside is that the cable is a standard 3.5mm and can be easily replaced, not that I'd need to, the angled cables provided are fairly thicc and durable. I'd be more concerned about the shitty synthetic leather headband pealing off.

I wish Phillips made a quality pair of closed headphones, really love my X2s.
>>

Third question, Sennheiser CX-300 II precision or SonyMDR XB50AP?
>>
>>56509961
They are 95% the same as the SR except with that bass boost. It's a subtle change but not one that I prefer. That said, if the SR did not exist, I would be happy with the XRs.
They are identically built.
>>
>>56509727
Shame about the cable. The microphonics are my main gripe with the ER-4 cables. At least we could be seeing better aftermarket options since they are removable.
>>
>>56507664
the 558 definitely don't have weak bass
they're actually somewhat warm and bass heavy rather than neutral, tho coming from the crossfade i can understand

check out the 518 if you're interested in the Sennheiser line, quite bass heavy, and cheap too. they don't look great, up to you how much you value that.

they still have nearly the same soundstage and open-ness that the 558/598 have, but a much warmer sound signature.

tho the pads aren't quite as good as the 558/598, so you might want to swap them.

to use your boompro, you have to buy an adapter
theyre like two bucks off ebay or ali,
they take sennheiser's weird screw in 2.5 and change it to a standard 3.5
something like this
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152185723759
if you look for others, avoid the ones that have 'solder' in their name, since they dont have the 3.5 end.

Don't. Seriously, you're genuinely burning money with high-end headsets. There are virtually no decent ones.

Just get a good set of cans and either attach a boompro or any other mic to it, or just get a fucking desktop mic. You can but a full desktop mic setup for around $35 USD with shit off aliexpress/ebay/gearbest

full condenser, full sized boom, and phantom power
and it sounds GOOD

Just get a pair of M40X with a Boompro, or any other mid-range closed-back with a removable cable
or just buy a cheap desktop mic for ~$3-$5. it'll pick up a lot, but it'll sound good and you won't have to deal with shithouse boom mics or whatever headsets use these days

headsets other than real low-end ones, a few low end plantronics, and the hyper X clouds are pretty much all complete rip offs

How big of a difference would an amp make with my HD598s against H81M-E33 mobo onboard sound?
>>
>>56510797
HD598 work fine without an amp, but both myself and others have found they sound slightly warmer, slightly more sub-bass

not really
i used a sound meter and got them to the same sound level on a few different pure tones on each source
then just plugged them in and out without him knowing what source was what
he's was a music technician and teacher before retiring, and now days he just builds speakers and other shit, so its not like some randy off the street who listens to beets(tm) all day who can't detect small details in audio

I have the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 Ohm and used a FiiO E10 (not the current iteration, but one I bought back in late 2013) with it. I liked that combination.

The FiiO E10 headphone jack broke (the iteration I bought was notorious for this... I opened the thing up and the headphone jack had literally split into two halves). I got a Gigabyte motherboard with a Realtek ALC1150 audio processor, which seems to drive the 250 Ohm headphones just fine. I don't actually notice any difference in sound quality between the ALC1150 and the FiiO E10 (to be clear, I did a quick and dirty repair of the headphone jack just to do a comparison... it didn't last long enough for regular use).

Not sure if that means the ALC1150 on my motherboard is good, or the previous generation E10 wasn't very good, or my hearing isn't very detail oriented. I do know that the previous generation Realtek audio processor and the Soundblaster X-Fi weren't able to drive the DT990 Pro adequately.

Are there any decent headphones you can try in best of buy?
>>
Budget: Up to $150 USD

Location: Southern California, USA

Source: Almost exclusively my PC, though sometimes my laptop or smart phone

Preferred type: Full (I already have an okay IEM)

Open or Closed: Either is fine, though I suppose I'd prefer closed

Comfort level: I don't mind some discomfort, but I don't want to be removing it every hour or so to massage the cartilage in my ear, either. Sound quality is key.

Tonal Balance: I've been enjoying brighter treble recently, so that, neutral, or a good V-curve is great

Past headphones: I've mostly used IEMs before, but I had a pair of Sony Mdr-E10Lp with surprisingly good sound. My current IEMs are Shure SE112, which are okay but have the classic rubberhead earbud problem of getting muted by earwax. Any full headphones I've used before have been no-names or early wireless models.
>>
>>56515397
HD600 is better but it's not a massive leap in quality.

I have these and they aren't bad. I usually keep them for wearing in bed as they are comfortable and if I fall asleep and break them it's not expensive to replace them. They are as close to a closed K7-- as your going get at the moment. Like most AKG products these days, they are made in China, which does effect the build quality. The design itself is quite sturdy and don't don't feel fragile to hold or wear. In Europe you can find them for around £100, in the US they are more expensive and not worth the price.

This is a transparent source and HTC 10 likely is too on any load you'd likely plug into it. I won't claim to hear differences when the performance is this level and frankly, I don't believe anyone can. HTC 10 seems to have rather average IMD performance when loaded but other than that, its is more or less on par with this.

You really ought to have a listen before you buy. They have issues with achieving proper seal, bass quantity varies a lot from person to person. Make sure it can't move too much, and that the switches, volume pot are protected from shocks. Bubble wrap is good. Little foamy things are practical if you have those, and if you have free space left, add more bubble wrap, cardboard, paper, whatever to fill it.

PC 363d my decent Sennheiser gay men headphones. Have been very durable, even crushing them would not produce a snappheiser or any broken mic. Music sounds nice on them, including the large variety of lossless music you see in some games.

Must have inline controls. Many tracks downloaded are FLAC and easily fit on my 128gb SD card. University on-the-go use.

I have seen Sony MDR7506 recommended for my situation, perhaps knowing the HTC 10 has a "decent" DAC full size cans will work. I am only skeptical of these hearing they will give you sharp sounds. I'm sure the AKG K702 is a good headphone. If anyone wants better bass, then he should look for closed headphones.
>>
>>56518369
>Why is it ridiculous?
Because I've seen plenty of nice measuring wireless headphones, heard quite a few in person and seen other people like them too. Them being wireless doesn't have a correlation with sound quality or with anything else for that matter. It's just a trait they have and I have trouble seeing what is the big deal here every time.

As a remainder, headphone quality is not judged by sound quality alone. A poor sounding headphone could be a great headphone to a person who doesn't care about that aspect but cares about other redeeming aspects of a said headphone such as comfort, in-line mic, wireless, isolation, light weight, ANC, foldable construction, replaceable parts etc etc.
>There MUST be some models that can be recommended just because you assume there are?
Not the argument I make but with the plethora of different models out there under an umbrella term "wireless" I'd say that is more than a safe assumption.
>It isn't possible that the collective experience and all indicators we have does not indicate that there are not any?
Sure would be but I'm not seeing that "collective experience" and what indicators? People who oppose wireless out of principle in the fear that their signal integrity is compromised? People who unironically add those lines to OP but can't present a single argument against the technology? Audiophiles who are unreceptive to any new technology which transfers or alters an audio signal?

>>56518546
Yeah fuck those pesky Wi-Fi networks. What a pain in the ass. We should just have one option: cables and nothing else. I'd much rather search for public ethernet access for my phone, connect(reconnect) my laptop in my very well laid out local ethernet network around my house and spool up some cable to toilet when I want to watch shit on a tablet. I think I should give up on hands-free in-car Bluetooth too and destroy all but one of my game pads. Who needs remotes? Wireless is literal cancer.

No one is saying wireless is bad. Just that hard connections are always better. Why are you sperging out so much? It's common knowledge that anything wired is going to have better results compared to wireless. You mention remotes for TV's. Wrong. EVERY headphone is judged by sound quality alone. It is the ONLY objective standard to judge a headphone on. >Stopped reading here.
Oh should've seen you are this genius again. You say that but you actually don't.
>It seems you are lying.
>Either you lied when you said...
I didn't. I said that it was a problem here when giving recommendations. I never said there weren't any that don't measure well and in fact I said quite the opposite in the last post. The issue is when a random anon asks for a headphone with multiple criteria, wireless being one of them, the matching products narrow down a lot due to nobody here does not have a large amount of nice models to recommend anymore. Sometimes even none for the criteria given in the request. I don't give recommendations out of thin air or repeat what someone else said somewhere.
>EVERY headphone is judged by sound quality alone.
Really, keep this shit to yourself.
>It is the ONLY objective standard to judge a headphone on.
You can devise a ton of things to measure just about any product, objectively. The problem is correlating it with preference hence it's subjective. There isn't an objective standard on how a headphone should sound like.
>but that does not make a terrible headphone any less of a terrible headphone
4 u

Literally that's the answer. What is good is subjective. Even in sound to a degree. A correlation between a neutral and extended response or something like Harman target and tonality preference is clear but that doesn't mean everyone likes it and it isn't the only criteria why people buy headphones. You can weed out bullshit with measurements, get a general idea how something sounds like but in the end even this is subjective. The rest of the features such as comfort are almost entirely subjective and a very important criteria for many who purchase headphones.

>It just means one person is willing to compromise.
Maybe so but more importantly, their idea of a good headphone likely differs from yours. Neither is more or less correct.
>>
>>56519654
>The delusions you are trying to push as 'fact' are not 'truth'
I asked you to provide an alternative objective standard to determine what makes or does not make a good headphone. Instead of providing an alternative you've tried to move the goalpost and when that was denied went and stuck your head in the sand.

Grow up.
>>
>>56519685
There is currently no valid objective standard for determining what headphone is the 'best' or even what makes a headphone sound good. This is currently being explored by AES and Harman.
>>
>>56519678
>I said that it was a problem here when giving recommendations
Based upon what?

>the lack of . . . documented performance of wireless headphone models
And yet you claimed you saw documented performance. How can YOU have seen documented performance yet failed to provide such (noting the lack of any link) AND no one else has?

>Oh should've seen you are this genius again
Welcome to 4chan new fag. Stopped reading here is not new or limited to any one poster.

Oh, and stopped reading here. You have convinced me that you are just making shit up in every post and a newfag who has no idea what he is talking about so I there is no point in reading more than the first couple of lines.

>There is currently no valid objective standard for determining what headphone is the 'best' or even what makes a headphone sound good
Because we do not have objective measurements? Because there is not ONE single objective purpose for the existence of mobile audio devices to reproduce sound?

Stick your head deeper in the sand. We can still hear your bullshit.

Oh you're the 'It hurts to be right so often' autist. Get a job and stop mooching off your parents, maybe you'll be able to afford decent headphones since 24/7 shitposting on /g/ isn't helping you.

Are you unoriginally shitposting because you have an immature need to have the last word?

t. autist who literally posts the same chain of replies in an attempt to get the last word in every thread
The fact that you're still replying just shows your lack of maturity and self-sufficiency. Take the advice and get a job.

Since it seems you are only going to shitpost there is nothing to entertain myself with except to let you prove me right. The next post will what you know is coming, "It almost hurts to be right so often." To which I expect will be another shitpost, maybe along the lines of gloating about "autism."

If you respond to this post and the next post which is exactly what you know is going to be you make me feel that warm glow of righteousness because I know you cannot stop yourself and commit the ultimate hanging of yourself from the rope I've given you.

Wireless doesn't do that. You do get more latency but usually a negligible amount for audio listening purposes a risk of interference in different ways than wired transfer. It doesn't have to be a compromise on perceived sound quality. If it is, it's poor engineering.

>>56519728
Getting a bit frustrated there are you?
>I said that it was a problem here when giving recommendations
I said it already, lack of documented performance to match every wireless request made.
>How can YOU have seen documented performance yet failed to provide such (noting the lack of any link)
You want some sources? Let me search up for some graphs. Remember to assess subjectively, as always.

http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/BoseQuietComfort35WirelessActive.pdf
http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/SennheiserRS220.pdf
http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/KossBT540iBluetooth.pdf

Can't even recall all the nice measuring RS models from Sennheiser. Headroom is down so can't link. Google the LG TONE+ HBS-1100 from Clarityfield, can't like because 4chan's autistic filter. I know you had troubles getting orders to Google before but try this time, alright?

>You have convinced me that you are just making shit up in every post and a newfag who has no idea what he is talking about so I there is no point in reading more than the first couple of lines.
You gave up. You just challenged my points but presented no counterarguments, namedropped some argumentation errors as always which were yet again just you intentionally missing my point, not reading what I typed or having serious issues with reading comprehension. You didn't argue, you just twisted around a few sentences I typed and opposed everything. You'd have a knack for politics.

>newfag
I love this. Not sure if this is irony at this point, a clever ruse or just something you still seem to throw around to downplay others. Anyway caught me to the bait.

You want some smug anime faces this time? I give you one. I need the last post.

>lack of documented performance to match every wireless request made.
>to match
Let's look at the exact words in >>56518277
>That's ridiculous. The problem in these threads is just the lack of knowledge and documented performance of wireless headphone models to recommend.
Where do you get "to match" with anything? It is pretty clear that the claim was a general "lack of knowledge" not "to match" with anything.

Etc.
Finally you provide some measurements and we can get back to the original "I wonder." NOW we have a common basis of knowledge to compare those measurements to other headphones and they measure worse, I wonder if that would mean that there are no good wireless headphones to recommend?
>>
>>56520083
>a negligible amount

I win.

>>56520113
>Where do you get "to match" with anything?

>lack of knowledge and documented performance of wireless headphone models to recommend
>to recommend
In other words, to recommend based on what was requested. Maybe that should've been more clear. Or do you see other recommendations here in these threads?
>and they measure worse
Compared to what? Worse how? Actually don't specify, that's subjective. How do you correlate wireless with this "worse" performance?

>In other words, to recommend based on what was requested.
Abandon all standards and perpetuate a headphone circlejerk? No thanks.

>Compared to what?
I don't know. Other headphones?

>Worse how?
Measurable standards.

You are asking question that have obvious answers. I wonder if you have already concluded that there are good wireless headphones to recommend.

The bass seems a little bit overbearing at times with the general-consensus 1dB/octave in-room bass tilt. I don't know what your acceptable levels for boominess are.

Either way replacing speakers willy nilly is a waste of money and time. Start off with a measurement microphone and some quality time with RoomEQWizard to figure out what your problem really is. Chances are your boominess is caused by room acoustics rather than the speakers anyways so the correct solution would be stuffing your corners with rock wool dampeners. Or, just, EQing the shit out of them with a parametric EQ or DRC since that's free and doesn't take up valuable room space and doesn't look hideous.
