Hey OP, you seem to have forgotten a few things:
> Asking "Hey guys, what's your opinion on x?" is frowned upon.
> Wireless is frowned upon.
> Headset requests are frowned upon.

Also, why are you doing this when the older thread is not a the bump limit? Are you new, or somewhat disingenuous? :^)

>>
>>56519117
Do you have a credible source to prove that wireless is bad?

And by credible I don't mean audiophile blog-tier articles.

Regarding headsets, some people just want convenience and a simple form factor, who are you to judge their requests.

Please fucking kill yourself already.

DT770 and DT880 have similar sound signature, so the choice between them basically relies on your preferences. Are you going to use the headphones in a noisy environment? Do you want isolation? Are you going to use them at home?
>>
>>56519755
What does Sennheiser have to do with reddit?
>>
>>56519645
>meme

Stop using this word for everything. Closed headphones provide better sound isolation. If you're in an environment or scenario where that is necessary or advantageous then you should pursue closed headphones. If not, then open headphones are generally a better value because it's easier to make open headphones sound good. There are a few nuances besides that but that's the main point.
>>
>>56519690

Obviously I wan't a link to the previous thread. That's the norm for generals. But doing it early can bump other individual threads off the last page. It's just considered rude. Even if the thread goes off page 10 you can still link to it because it'll be in the archive. Literally no reason to make threads early. Technically it's a form of spam, which is against the global rules.
>>

Let's do this again, the statement that wireless is frowned upon is due to wired being superior, right?

That doesn't take into consideration the needs of the user. Some people just want the convenience of wireless.

We should be free to discuss wireless headphones here, same for headsets.
>>

>>56520218
They are there to pre-empt any pointless shitposting about them that. Every time any discussion occurs about them after a few posts it degenerates into shitposting. Take for example the tail end of the last thread. We have one idiot sticking his head in the sand and advocating for /hpg/ to be as much of an objective circlejerk as head-fi like he does in every thread wireless is discussed.

That jackass (possibly you) wanting to remove them because it is his opinion that wireless HAS TO HAVE some good headphones to recommend does not change the history of /hpg/ including recent history.

It's not that simple.

The other group? You mean there would be two people because one did not choose to pre-empt the discussion, ie NOT doing exactly what was stated?

We had a few threads where we had that actually happen. But then the jackass either started lurking again or came of some ban and started making new threads before the bump limit again. Are you the same jackass or just ignoring relatively recent /hpg/ history?

Ever so slight variations on the sound. The 600 ohm is best. Ohms is a measure of electrical resistance, generally the higher it is the more electricity it will take to drive a headphone to a nominal level. But it's not necessarily the case that an 80 ohm headphone will take the same amount as the same ohm rating from another manufacturer, or that say a 64 ohm from one company can't be harder to drive than an 80ohm from a different company as it's not the only determining factor.

Are the AKG K701 still in the higher tier of headphones? Do you need an amp to drive them? I want to upgrade from my K240 Studios to some other reference headphones
>>
>>56522682
>what difference does the Ohms make?
Nothing except making it more difficult to drive. If you're using a portable setup like a smartphone or DAP then you'll want the 250.
>>
>>56522787
>>56522753
Okay thanks, and would you have any recommendations for amps if I were to go with the 250 Ohm ed.? Or is even a necessity at 250?
>>
>>56522769
K701 are a shitty meme bud. And also hard to drive.

Just get a HD600.
>>
>>56522852
You're probably not going to need an amp unless you are using an old under-powered source. I'd suggest trying them directly before thinking about an amp.
>>
>>56522877
And by under-powered source I assume you mean something like a phone? I'm thinking of using it with my PC.
>>
>>56522769
K701 are not quite as balanced as the k712. Also don't listen to the memers like >>56522863
>>
>>56522917
A phone, an old laptop, an old desktop, a shitty stereo without an actual amp, an mp3 player etc.

Your pc should be able to drive the 600's, albeit not very loudly. That said if you're using dt880's on motherboard audio you'll want a sound card or DAC regardless of which version you get.

The only high voltage cables are the little thin ones on the SR-009 and the SR-007 MK II. The fuckhuge ones are just way overbuilt RCA, Balanced, and regular 3 prong 120VAC power cables.

It made me do a doubletake though, as I've been looking for some decent 1kv rated connectors for a separate PSU on my Circlotron, but all the ones I find rated for that are for power companies and almost a foot long.

The Xonar will not drive a pair of 250Ω DT880's. There do exist sound cards with built in headphone amps. It would still be cheaper to buy a seperate amp. I own a Xonar DX and it barely drives a pair of HD650.

>>
>>56524979
It's a high impedance headphone with not that large power draw. If you get the volume you need, your amplifier is driving them properly. Xonar, on-board, smartphone or whatever else. High impedance is an easy load for the amplifier.
>>
>>56526218

Pretty sure the 007 is dark.

The treble peak is not inordinate and is not a critical flaw when comparing the defunct 2170 system to a dynamic + O2.

Rin Choi on the lambda pro, which is brighter than subsequent lambdas:

>PRO: A well-extended flat frequency response & clean transient characteristic. Can't get much better than this.
>>

007 measure dark on an inadequate amplifier. amplifiers have much more impact on electrostats than they do electrodynamics and even less on orthos.

What does an amp actually do? Does it just give you more volume?
>>
>>56530446
In short, yes. An amplifier increases signal power which results into a louder volume. A good amplifier does this accurately with minimal distortion and noise. A good amplifier also has near zero output impedance, possibly an option to switch between gain settings to allow suitable volume for a wide range of devices(from in-ears to low sensitivity headphones) and a quality pot to adjust the volume without causing channel imbalance at high levels of attenuation. In some cases a headphone amplifier could merely be an impedance buffer, in some cases it's required for proper listening volume.

Is this good /g/? It detects your sound profile by echoing sounds in our ear in less than a minute and adjusts frequency response based on who's wearing it. It can even recognize you from how your ear responds to the frequencies.

Yeah. It'll be phenomenal if it does what it promises. I guess I'll wait for it to be shipped to the first few people for now.
>>
>>56532867
Weird band? They're just a japanese heavy metal band who incorporates fancy dress into their performance like many other japanese bands.

Because it's a gimmick feature to begin with. It was included in winamp where it actually made a little bit of sense due to how shit CPUs were at the time and now everybody keeps putting one in out of tradition.

EQ needs to be system-wide if you're going use it to correct your speakers or headphones.
