I keep getting pic related.

With some limits in size being reached, is it likely we'll have a period of complete performance stagnation until a completely new method of approach is found? If so, how much longer do you think we got until that stagnation is reached?
>>

We haven't reached performance limits yet, there is no reason to release better CPUs if there is no competition.

Ustream overhauled how it did its VOD system awhile back and instead of generating large files that contained the entire video stream they are now split into hundreds of roughly 500KB chuncks. It is impractical to download all hundreds or thousands of these tiny files and then attempt to reconstruct the whole video in an editor.

What I need to know is if there is any software that will download and combine these split VODs. Livestreamer had ustream support but I don't think it's been updated in awhile and it doesn't play nice with the new system.

Okay /g/, I have a question for you:
My internet has a monthly cap, so I need to start downloading porn so I can fap even offline near the end of the month. I use the laptop at university and I'm afraid other people may use it and find all my stuff, so I ask you, is there a way, without using third party programs, to safely secure one folder so that no one can access it without knowing the password? Also, I'm running ubuntu 14.04 and I already know about folder permissions, and I know someone with root permissions (like those from a live CD) could potentially see the files. I tried to create an archive with a password, but when I open it I can still see the filenames.

I just used it, very useful tool.
You tell it where to pull images, then where to push images. The images all go into folders named after your keypress (so if you press p they go into a folder named "P" and 2 takes them into a folder named "2" etc)

Should be pretty good for boards. If it doesn't go into the right folder then just keep going and then ctrl+x all the pictures from the folder it creates to the one it belongs in.

Okay so I used D3D Fullscreen option in MPC-HC, and it seems to work too. For subtitles I used different renderer, and it works.

But the D3D prevents me from right-clicking during playback, which is kinda annoying. The madVR extensive mode is also annoying, it flashes and lags every time I right-click. Also it's ugly.

But it works, finally, after two fucking hours, I can watch my movie. Thank you for help.

Why not just increase the wire gauge/add more wires to the 24 pin connector instead of having this extra connector?

I had some shit earplugs one time and it made a faint buzzing sound constantly, probably because it was so fucking cheap they didn't even put in a filter to take away background-/random noise when there's no signal.

It could be the same, but it could also be your audio out device sending out weird shit to your speakers under some special circumstances.

I agree with the anons around here that something is inducing this noise into your speakers when it's working. Did you try downloading anything else (big)? The installer for VirtualBox for instance?

Or is it images only?

I installed new mobo, cpu, ram two days ago and everything was working fine until now. I was installing a new GPU and while everything seemed to be running smoothly, I hardly touched anything during the switcing process, the computer refused to power up as soon as I put the power cable back on. The mobo lights are on but nothing happens when I press the power button. I have tried to isolate the problem, by removing the cables to everything but the cpu, ram, and psu but it still doesn't power up.

Tried to use a different psu but the problem persists so I assume it could only be three components that's faulty... but still I just bought these parts and they were running fine until now? I don't get how this could have happened. The parts I bought was a 6600k, z170 pro gaming, 3000mhz 16gb corsair ram.

Oh and the GPU is also running fine when I try it on a different computer. This is making me suicidal. I have paid almost hundred dollars for these new parts and now they don't work?

How do I get my UPS which is connected via USB to my PC to automatically shutdown my other devices, such as NAS and home server in an event of a power failure?
>>
>>56394466
As long as the milliamps and voltage delivered from both chargers are the same, you are good to go. Google the specs for both and compare. Voltage can be either too high or too low, both are damaging to other electronics, but not gonna be a heat issue. Amps can only be too high, and this is where the heat problems come from. Good luck.

My youtube account used to not have an icon/image for years, but I checked it today and now it has a new one, and when I logged in, it was linked to a 'brand account'.

What the hell is this? Was I hacked? Or is this a normal thing that happens to your youtube channel when you get a certain number cumulative of views? Or is this some new google policy? I'm not even a big youtuber or anything, I just have a couple of videos I've posted over the years.

I'm fine with dumping the channel if it's not safe to use it anymore, but if my google account is compromised, I'm screwed. Then it's game over man, game over.

Some extra info. It appears the new image is a default that google provides, and when I try to edit it, it tells me to upload a photo. But I'm not reading anywhere that this change is automatic. Typically, HSFs will come with some sort of mounting support to help it remain in position on the motherboard.

If sag is an issue for you, perhaps you should try positioning your motherboard so that the cooler is vertical relative to the ground.
I am sure this would also help with potential GPU or even RAM sag, if such a thing even exists. Those RAM sticks with full blown heatsinks on them seem like they would be heavier.

So according to the pdf manual of the Micca Origen+
The output selector switch is used to output signal to either the rear analog stereo output, or the
front headphone jacks. Both cannot be used at the same time. If there is a need to output signal
to a downstream amplifier and a pair of headphones at the same time, this can be accomplished
by connecting both the amplifier and headphones to the front headphone jacks.
he two headphone output jacks are in parallel, so two pairs of headphones can be connected
in parallel.

So I would just need to connect my SHP9500 to the 3.5mm port and a 1/4 to rca for my monitors?

Any other option out there? Need a DAC/AMP to power my headphones while sending signal to my 305

Pretty sure that much battery drain is not supposed to happen in airplane mode,

Anyway, I've got a string of cell phones I'm looking at to replace the old droid 3 I've got.

Motorola Droid 4 (provided I don't get a lemon again.)
Kyocera brigadier
Casio Commando (the 4g one)

Basically I don't need something totally bomb proof (I work for the forest service, bomb resistant is fine), and I'm a fan of slate sliders. I've also found conflicting info on the droid 4 as there's allegedly one floating around that you can remover the battery on without voiding the warranty on it...

Thoughts on these three? Or suggestions in another direction?

Has anyone successfully managed to get a copy of Windows 7 running on a QEMU virtual machine? I'm using the Antergos Archlinux distribution, but whenever I try to boot, the machine either hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen, or gets a BSoD within the first few screens of the OS install process.

Things I've tried:

1) Running QEMU from the command line on a 1GB memory machine with a qcow2 virtual HDD, using -vga option 'cirrus' :

qemu-system-x86_64 -m 1024 -hda win7.img -cdrom Win7_HomePrem_SP1_English_x64.iso -boot d -vga cirrus

2) Same as 1, but with -vga set to 'virtio' and 'qxl', each yielding varying degrees of progress through the installation process before hanging/BSoDing.

The .iso file for the Windows install disc has been verified to work on physical hardware. I"m told this has been successfully accomplished before, Is there something obvious I'm overlooking?

i checked the og to make sure, saw a few blocked things, unblocked them just to be sure
no change, still cannot load

malwarebytes has a shield feature that runs all the time (before you call me a pleb, hear me out)
most of the features are disabled, it is, like peerblocker, just a method to block connects to the worst of the worst IP addresses
and i dont just mean inbound, if i accidentally get infected, it will try to phone home, but E.T. will never answer the phone

so yeah, i dont get it
i installed an extra browser (chrome) and it works, it loads recaptcha
however firefox fails to load recaptcha

I ran both programs in a "safe-mode" state, the state where no plugins or addons or anything optionally is hooked & active

tldr - recaptcha wont fucking load anymore, any help? PLEASE? IM PULLING MY HAIR GUIS.

i got NOTHING to offer, i mean, ill be your friend if that has some value you to you
im not rude, i on every day because i do my work on here, i dont judge people, im not picky about personality types so even if yours is.....less than perfect, i dont care

Hey /g/, I'm a computer science student, currently in my 3rd year but up to this point most of the courses I've taken have been gen eds. I was diagnosed with depression & an anxiety disorder a couple years ago. I felt pretty shitty til just recently when I got a good combo of meds and did very little to develop my skillset as a programmer and student. Currently, I'm in my second semester of data structures & algorithms and a discrete math course. What are some concrete steps I can take to make up for the lost time?

Hey /g/, I'm having an issue with my Note 4

My Facebook and Facebook Messenger feeds refuse to update unless I take my sim card out of my phone. I've updated every app and I've tried clearing memory/reinstalling, and my Android is v6.0.1.

The only solution I've got is to remove the sim card, which isn't too practical for me.

Any ideas what might fix it?

I don't use Facebook, so I'm not completely sure if this will work.
Try going to your settings app and head to the accounts section.
There will probably be a Facebook account linked there. Make sure everything is set to auto sync.
If it isn't that, then have you recently installed any apps like greenify or something?

Is my internet just being a bitch right now, or is it my torrent?
I have some stuff downloading right now on transmission and I deleted the torrent files I used to open it. It's my internet, right? I have a bunch of stuff queued too and I deleted the torrent files I used to open it. I should be fine, right?
>tfw connected to 50 peers and 0 kbps

>>56399110

Attempting to Sync gives me a "Loading" screen and then boots me out with no change, so I think this might be onto something.

As for Greenify-esque apps, I've never touched them on this device.
>>
>>56399141
Definitely sounds like it's an issue with auto sync.
Maybe look in the Facebook app settings for an option there? I can't really suggest much more though since I'm just guessing all this.

Depends what kinds of games you play. If it's mostly competitive games go with a 1440p monitor with 120hz or more.
If it's mostly just single player games, or games where you don't need very high frame rate go with 4k 60fps.

How do I know if my GPU is going bad? I have a Diamond HD 5450 1gb.

I tried watching a youtube video at 1080p 60fps and it was stuttering and lagging. Switching to 480p was smoother. I tried a video on vimeo and I it was also stuttering/wouldn't play.

I opened a game along with fraps and saw that I was able to get 60fps (although at 900p) without problems. I updated chrome too and I am still having this issue.

Should I be checking ram or something else before I blame my GPU?

My relatively new install of windows 10 has been crashing a lot. Right now, it is mainly crashing with the message "bad_system_config_info". What can cause this and how do I fix it? I've had nothing but problems recently, every time I reinstall wondows 10, I get a new issue resulting in bsod. Could this be a ssd problem? All the tests I've run said nothing is wrong with it. I don't know what to do. Windows files get corrupted within days of a fresh windows 10 install.

It could be something with hardware acceleration. Try ripping the video from youtube and play it in various media players. If playback is much better try firefox/internet explorer for further playback testing.

Is there anything I can do for linux to make my computer faster?
More specifically torrents. I'm using transmission right now and it's pissing me off. I'm currently downloading something and it's connecting to like 50 peers but the speed is less than 50kbps.
I tested the same torrent on my other laptop (Windows 8.1) on qbittorrent and it goes up to 600kbps. Huge difference.
Is it transmission? Is it the OS? Is it the computer?

Its most likely Chromes fault. Worst case try uninstalling and do a clean install then install your addons. I had a similar problem but it only happened with a specific youtuber. Any other 60fps 1080 videos didn't stutter. Try other 60fps videos for giggles.

Hey there guys, I have a question.
I'm wanting a new laptop. I usually get 'desktop replacements', but now I'm looking for something easily portable (small & zippy). 15" screen or smaller. I write as a hobby so I want something I can carry around to type on and maybe watch youtube videos.
Hard Mode: I have a nice DVD collection I'd like to be able to watch on it. So I'd really like it to have a built-in disc drive.
I'm going budget; but a little overpowered is always better than underpowered.
Thanks guys!

Simple doubt, i have to update a now offline pc with Windows 7 (updated up to 2015) but now place has no physical access to internet (can't because reasons), i want to update it (security and hotfixes, no OS """upgrade""" to 10) and i'm about to use WSUS, shit is i don't know which KB is already installed, if i execute the updater (from WSUS update agent exe, not by powershell script), the already installed KB definition overwrite and fuck itself up or it just skip it?

Google'd for answers but they are a clusterfuck that don't adress the potential issue, only got tons of "don't install X kb" or "W10 is raping my anus" results

Also, if anyone is interested, i can give the exclusion list of those KB's, got telemetry/gwx/win10 update and some suspected ones up to august.

the other night i found a seller on amazon that was selling $700 speakers for $1.30 so i snagged 3 of them for $4. afterwords i clicked on his profile and everything he was selling was for $1.50. TVs, headphones, etc. before i could order anything else the seller de-listed all of his items, but the speakers that i bought still say "shipped".

can anyone guess on what was going on? what are the chances that i will actually receive anything?

Can an old hard drive cause my input lag?
Two years ago i started to have input latency with my mice. and some usb stuff transferred at 10mbps.
I tried everything, ram, psu, other mices, other ports, and no luck.
Now a week ago I finally after 7 years upgraded my computer, to a i7 6700, 16gb ram yatta yatta.
the thing is, I STILL HAVE MOUSE INPUT LAG. and the USB 3.0 stuff are transferring at 50mbps with my external hard drive. in which i remember with a friend's computer it went 100mbps.
I changed everything but the harddrive, it's an old WD250GB that i had since 2007, that's where i install the OS on.
A friend in a month will give me back a 500gb that I borrowed him and will try install OS there.
The detail of how my mouse lag is:
Move slow, I can make a 180º move. Move really fast, it will only move 10º.
this problem with 2 years and buying a new pc and still have this problem kinda made me want to hang myself. But will wait for a response.
I have a 4 year old 700w PSU, but tried with a 650w bronze and still was the same.
My question it's again, can somehow a HDD do that?
it's weird, since it's like it's not giving the proper power to the south bridge or something I don't know

A list of updates to avoid is useless without including the reasons to avoid them. It's all very subjective, and half the list up there probably refers to windows 10 upgrade, which isn't a thing any more. Microsoft has actively patched it out. If you'd care to include more information that would be dandy.
