Just bought a Ducky 5 for my production hackintosh.

Anybody know where to get mac keycaps?
>>

Any time someone asks about corsair or razer just save yourself the trouble and link them to my post

7) Why does it seem like /g/ hates Razer and Corsair mechanical keyboards?
- Razer has changed from Cherry switches to Kailh switches without reducing the price of their products
- While using Kailh switches isn't inherently terrible, Razer have switched purely to increase their profits

- Corsair mechanical keyboards have a certain aesthetic to them which attracts a specific demographic
- Corsair boards use a non-standard layout for the 5th row. This makes buying after market keycap sets difficult
- There have been reports of quickly dying LEDs on certain Corsair models
- RGB versions of this keyboard have had numerous issues with drivers and flickering
>>
Oh yeah, what do we think about the edited OP image? Easier to spot if you're just perusing and stop people asking for a source.

ok let's get some recommendations going right from the start

so I received pic related today and I'm still debating if I want to get a separate numpad or not

>budget
50€? I don't know how much numpads usuallt cost

>location
Germany

>switch type
loving the mx clear switches on my pok3r so far so that would be nice. Even if it's not those it just has to be a 'quiet' switch

>layout
numpad

>form factor
numpad

>backlight
not necessary as my pok3r doesn't have backlight either

>previous/current keyboards
pok3r but no previous numpad
>>
>>56380458
And yes, I know the kerning on big /mkg/ is awful - forgot to reset when I was fiddling before.

>>56380496
It feels great. More desk space, keyboard and mouse are closer together (so more comfortable) and keycaps are much less expensive for when you get hooked.
>>
>>56380412
You can get blank keycaps.
If you want the apple font I don't know where you can get those, but I know places like das and wasd keyboard where they sell just the 4 keys you need to convert it to the apple layout, or if you want the hotkeys as well
>>
>>56380423
razer has their own design, cherry probably just wouldn't make razer's design or it would be prohibitively expensive
>>
>>56380506
A good keyboard has lower case lettering. Upper case is easier to write but lower case give more hints of the character's shape.
Yes, I should learn to touch type but...
>>
>>56380565
hmm yeah some lower case keycaps would look nice

doesn't really matter when you touch type though
>>
>>56380559

>MANUFACTURING
>Razer controls the entire manufacturing process of each switch, even the blueprint. This, in addition to the years of research and development, have resulted in a switch that surpasses the competition in durability, and features the tightest tolerance levels. Having control over the production gives Razer the opportunity to constantly innovate with new technologies, so you enjoy nothing but the very best.
>>
>>56380633

>>
>>56380626
this is great thank you very much anon :)
>>
>>56380655
Oh gee that makes me feel a whole lot better coming from Razers own mouth. I know that kailh has had issues with their machining process before, but it sure is nice that Razer spent the hundreds of thousands of dollars getting better equipment and just giving it to them instead of making it themselves. I wonder why kailh doesn't use the new tools they have to improve the already poor quality of their switches. Maybe asking razer again will shed some light inot the situation

dang how do I get good. I recently gotten a mechanical keyboard after years of using a chicklet keyboard. I have this problem in which when moving my fingers from one key to another I accidentally hit another key in the process since the caps are much bigger then I expected. This causes me to go back and correct the mistake. What kind of practice can I do to get better?

Why have a top row of number keys when you could just displace the whole set to a keypad?

Use a narrower mouse.

OK, so I own a ton of keyboards both vintage and new. Here's the deal about Cherry and clones:

New MX blacks aren't as smooth as vintage blacks, but the same is only slightly true for blues and greens. MX clears in my Maxine (20 years old) and Pok3r (new) have the exact same feel.

If you can get any of them for the same price as Otemu or Kailh, go for it. Gaterons have the benefit of being smoother than Cherry in some cases, but the same isn't true for those two.

You can get an awesome clone board for 50 bucks, 70 with gaterons and 90 with cherry is the norm for TKL. I suggest reading thru some archived threads for people that actually own these.

Current Corsiar K70

Basically the K70 was my first mechanical keyboard because I liked how it looked and was really nice out of the box. After much use I was looking to replace the keycaps only to learn that they are near impossible to replace as a complete set. With that said, I'm basically looking for a base keyboard that I can fully replace keycaps when they get worn from use. Full keyboard is preferred but will also take tenkeyless board options.

There are some sets that include corsair-specific keycaps, like https://www.aliexpress.com/item//32702357890.html . No idea about quality of that one in particular, but it's an option.

Anyway, you can get WASD fullsize barebones for $100-125 depending on switch type, and at the moment they have all cherry switch types in stock.

ABS is the standard plastic used for every keyboard whether it be membrane or mechanical. It's the kind that gets glossy and nasty after a bit of use. PBT is a harder plastic that keeps its texture a lot longer.

Well, I've seen some wooden wrist rests that have similar shape to one on K70. Those are expensive though. Not sure if there are any standalone plastic ones.

The problem with looking for a keyboard that has a wrist rest included, is that it's only a thing with gayman keyboards like your old one.

Not necessarily cheapo. More focusing on nice, simple and functional. Just nice key rollover and solid switchs. Windows key lock for gaymen as the sprinkles on top.

Funnily enough, there's an Ebay-seller that sells all spare keys individually and in sets.
The only key they're currently out off....is the Ctrl-Key.
WTF LOGITECH?
I think I'll go somewhere else with my stuff next time. i never use the special G-Keys anyway!

it's probably decent enough, i'm guessing it has ABS keycaps and you might be able to get PBT instead at your budget level (not sure with this full size form factor though). also if you haven't tried browns before you might get disappointed
>>
>>56390655
Thanks, will go to nearest shop and try all the switches than!

russian here as well, look around on avito, a dude was selling majestouch-2 for 5k

got a mint condition rapid-i with reds for 4.5k there, satisfied with my purchase, just need purple led covers now that are sadly not available at the moment

can also order a keyboard from aliexpress if you're up to it
>>
What is the point if a mechanical keyboard?

Dont they make more noise?
>>
>>56390716
they feel better to type on and the noise can be desirable like the noise gives you feedback to let you know the key has been pressed
>>
cheapest 87 key mechanical with blue switches and backlight? getting tired of my reds.
>>
>>56390716
mechanical keyboards have gotten cheaper since they exploded in popularity. You can now get them for 30-50 bucks with some basic features. Even though they are cheap they still have much better durability then rubber domes and usually last three times as long. More expensive keyboards have better materials and can last much longer. The IBM model F has a 30 year life cycle out of the box, and if you take real good care of it you can easily go bast 50 years.
The keys have tactile feedback which I like and since you can feel the actuation point you don't have to bottom out and you can type quicker. Switching to a mechanical added an extra 10wpm for me, though it may different to you
>>
>>56381308
>but I dont want people to know I do.
Why does it even matter?
>>
>>56390775
also it can be more ergonomic because you don't have to bottom out the key whereas with rubber domes you're constantly hitting your fingers against a more or less solid surface
>>
>>56390793
I use like a $5 keyboard. I cant inagine 10wpm being worth $45 or more
>>
>>56388979
>>56389185
>>56389244
The keyboard is a Cooler Master CM Quickfire XT and the red WASD key caps came with the package. There are also other key caps inside as well as a key remover and the PS/2 adapter, which I'm using right now.
>>
>>56390871
if you're a programmer or a typist it can matter a lot
>>
>>56390871
The feel and durability are worth the extra 30 bucks
>>
>>56390902
My shits lasted nearly half a decade. Pretty goos for $5
>>
>>56390707
I can't go for used keyboard, i better use something cheaper, but new.
I looked on Ali before, but everything was meh.
Now it's pretty good actually. Thanks.
>>
>>56390977
and how much did your mouse cost? $50+ or are you using a $5 mouse too? because then you don't know what you're missing
>>
>>56390977
My mechanical keyboard from 1988 is still going strong today, since it uses PBT key caps they will never wear out. In 25 years I wonder if your keyboard will still feel the same as it did brand new
>>
>>56391053
There's no point in trying to convince people if they're just going to argue back like that.

Please help me, not long ago i bought rapoo vpro tkl shitty mech board just to play games on but some keys are already fucked.

I need a tkl board that's not too loud and another thing that is massively important for me is if possible, excuse my layman description, to have keys that are a bit harder to press and take deeper press to activate. I was thinking maybe cm quickfire rapid but honestly i have no fucking idea what i am doing. I tried looking up even rubberdomes but i only find some horrible bluetooth boards.

pls send help
>>
>>56391259
>to have keys that are a bit harder to press and take deeper press to activate
you could get heavier springs it's really easy to swap them
>>
>>56391259
>but some keys are already fucked
are they broken or do they still work?
>>
>>56388845
GBs tend to come in waves (by coincidence), some more nice stuff will come along soon
>>
>>56391344
yeah but which board should i get
>>56391376
i can type but my a button doesn't register properly in games, sometimes it's like i don't press it at all and it's incredibly annoying

I want SP SA or DSA profile key caps, but I can't seem to find any upcoming sets. The Yuri set was switched from SA to GMK OEM and every upcoming set just uses OEM profiles
>>
>>56391425
okay do me a favor and hold down both shift keys and type the sentence:

the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
>>
>>56391486
HE QUIC BROWN OX UMP OVER HE Z OG

jesus christ what the fuck?
>>
>>56391533
that could be the issue, so get a keyboard with NKRO (No Key Roll Over)
>>

>>56391533
lol and this dick said it was placebo: >>56385028
>>

yes it affects other keys too

try this

Using that website everything seems normal. Thing is this started happening recently, and i used it just the same when i got it. Seems it can't register more than three keys but this happens ingame when i press like 2 keys only.

>>
So I got my first mech keyboard, the RK-9000V2 with brown switches. It's not nearly as heavy as I expected, and it's ridiculously easy to make mistakes just like with any cheapass logitech keyboard.

Next time I'm getting whites.
>>
>>56384163
Zealios 78g.
And some o-rings because you still might.
>>
>>56391742
clean that shit up and put some new keys on it

>>56388771
No, it's been over 15 years since the originals were in production.

If you're happy with matias and other clones by all means, but I'll stick with my originals.

I've been using my Topre Type Heaven for years now. I would love to upgrade to a Real Force tenkeyless but trying to find one for a decent price is impossible. I don't feel like spending $200+.
>>
>>56394866
it affects other keys too like in anon's game he can have at most 2-3 different keys active at a time and it fucks his shit up
>>
>>56394936
>gamer trash
>>
>>56394948
if you type fast it can fuck your shit too

NKRO is objectively better than shit KRO
>>
>>56394995
It works for me and I type 170 wpm
>>
>>56395053
>I type 170 wpm
ok buddy
>>
>>56395096
I do
>>
>>56394995
NKRO is a gimmick but the standard 6KRO that most modern mechanicals hace is fine by me.
>>
>>56395168
sure you do
>>
>>56395305
anon doesn't even have 6KRO
>>
>>56395305
agreed, mine has NKRO and I never press more than 4 keys at a time. even more than 3 is a rarity (shift+w+space etc)
>>
also the only excuse for a keyboard manufacturer to only have 6KRO is if the microcontroller is too weak because they cheaped out on it
>>
So I want to buy the CoolerMaster Masterkeys Pro L.
This will be my first mechanical keyboard.
I wanted the S but I do alot of 3D modeling.
I'm a little worried about the lack of wrist rest.

What are /mkg/'s views on this keyboard? Does anyone have one?
Thanks.

Looks to be full of gimmicks, but CM is always a good choice for a first mk. Good choice.
>>
>>56396358
how is it full of gimmicks?
>>
>>56391452
gmk is not oem
gmk is cherry
cherry is good
oem is bad
also you probably won't like SA as much as you think you will
it looks cool as hell but SP has been iffy with QC recently and gmk is really the way to go

Well that's a different page from the screenshot
