I bought this mini PC from Aliexpress a while ago to use as a pfsense box, but I just ended up repurposing an old Dell Poweredge and sticking that in the company's server rack instead

So I threw in an SSD and 4GB of RAM from my old chinkpad and turned it into a HTPC

The only problem I've had with it so far is actually Intel's fault. Their graphics control panel sucks ass and it's infuriating getting the right over scan settings dialed in

Still would recommend these little things in barebones configuration (customs sees it as a computer case and skimps on the tax), especially if you're like me and have tons of old parts lying around

Also looking for a better way to control it. Anyone have experience with those air remotes?

I run kodi on linux on a standard machine - but for maintenance and configuration you can do it through ssh or whatever.

I just use a normal remote with a USB ir receiver. (I bought one of the NEVO ones which have a screen for $20 - requires a bit of work to configure nice but you can actually do a 'learning' thing buy pointing a remote at the bottom of it and hitting the button, pretty neat)

I never have a keyboard plugged into my HTPC. Only time the keyboard gets plugged in is once every 6 months when I lose power and need to log into my X (I could have it without a login if I really wanted)

Pretty box though, nice this stuff is dropping in price.

The NEVO C2 just looks really slick and is $20 on ebay. I use it with my old USB IR receiver/remote that had buttons start to stop working well.
